Well done playthrough, nice quality and commentary. The game is confusing for sure, having different dialogue lines every playthrough. There is not much to experience other than that either, except for the occasional ghost which out of all of them you only found one at the end.
As I see it the story revolves around you and your wife Esther who died in a car accident. You obsess over your loss and row to this island for you last stay among the living, while your infection eats away at your body. Perhaps you try to find solace like one of the hermits you mention several times. Living in peace, alone on the island. In your last days you write letters to your Dear Esther and contemplating over your previous traumatic events and feelings and lastly as your fever grows and mind numbs you reach the beacon and fold your letters into paper boats floating out and sink under the sea. Climb and fall as you imagine yourself turning into a seagull in the air, rejoining your wife.
Im by no means right in this explanation. Perhaps the island is supposed to represent you or your inner coping with sorrow, as you find items all over the island that connect to the story like defibrillators and car pieces.
Alas I feel its an exceptional game not for its gameplay but just ability to create an experience, with its, music, visuals and outstanding voice acting.
I did like the fact that you blindly bought this game, even if it wasnt so intriguing for you I still respect the will to try out something different.
