- A trip from Tonbridge Down Loop ( a 05.33 departure, after arriving at 05.01, I had relieved it at Hither Green at 04.12 )on a misty morning, 6O87 was headed by 59201, with 24 wagons, length was 383 metres ( 60 SLU ), the actual load was 2449 tnns, the max speed was 60 mph, the final destination was Allington Sidings...
That's a very pretty line from Paddock Wood to Maidstone West along the Medway, very much the feel of a country byway.
Yes a very nice route to drive over...
Freight Rambler I'm a big fan , I was born in the southeast so can relate to a lot of your routes .Hoo junction was my patch , spotting days in the 80s as a teenager . A real enthusiast for things kent and southeast. Keep up the good work and I'll chip in with comments 👍.
thank you Matthew
Interesting to sample some class 59 performance from the cab after all those 66s. Interesting to hear the wheelslip control in play when pulling away.
Sounds much better with headphones on...
Excellent. Often used this line.
Trying to work out what the squashed insect was on the screen!
The wing diameter appears big.
The creature may have impacted further to the left of screen!.
well what ever it was,..it's done a big blummin skid mark,..
Bloody DSD is a bit lively on that loco!!
did the loco have a power problem, sounds to be rising & falling revs from engine quite a lot during that run.
No problem just the 2449 tnns load on pulling away from a stop, and some gradients slowing things down a tad...
Two short questions. 1...Does fog ever force you to slow? 2...When horn use is not permitted because of time does that also apply to orange army on line?
( 1 ) Not with colour light signals & AWS, the Maidstone West line until a few years ago was semaphore signalling, many with no AWS magnets, and being close to the Medway river, was often fog covered, a bloody nightmare !
( 2 ) We see the orange army, we blow the horn...
More new videos being processed !
I'll bet! Fog hides everything. I still wouldn't like entering fog at speed, takes some nerve and trust the line is clear. Thanks.
Right! Thanks.
What is DSD?
Drivers Safety Device
Why is this Driver not complying with the Whistle boards, especially in thick Fog/Mist?
If you check the description, it was a very early morning service. And the night time period is 00.00 - 06.00 (no use of the horn at whistle boards) - unless in emergencies, workers on the line or if the driver feels its absolutely necessary.
