    The top 12 inches of soil lies the destiny of civilization. This is the most powerful comment that I've heard in a long time. Thank you so much for your work!

    Excellent! Thank you for making this information so clear and easy to relate too and remember. One can not relate this vital information to students on just a chalkboard, as they will soon forget the lesson.

      Hi Luna, That's so great to hear that our videos have helped you! With everything going on, it can be really easy to loose track of these concepts. But, you obviously have a deep interest, so it will be worth it at the end!
      Keep going!! All the best, Octavia

    Wow the Humus explanation is so simple and superb. How humus is formed? mulching, breaking down organic matter all the nutrients go through this humus. But farmers make this more complicated, here what they do is, they spray humic acid on the synthetic fertilizer applied soil, so what would be the reaction, are they wasting their money?

    • @59degrees98
      @59degrees98  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your valuable comment! Yes so the humus is like a sponge, it can hold on to the nutrients that are released into the soil. All producers want to make profit, and applying fertilisers gets plant bulk (nutrient density doesn’t necessarily increase). When we simplify the system, there always seems to be imbalance in one way or another, and there’s always a cost to pay (it just might not be monetary!) This is a highly fascinating subject and a very complicated one!

    Organic matter is incorporated by layering on top of your existing soil. The blanket is the mulch that is the skin. So gardners only have to layer compost and mulch every fall to maintain a healthy supply of food to the organism and worms that do all the work for free instead of us Incluing moving and distributing food, putting air in the soil tilling ( the worms do that) and making chenals for air and water. Nature is designed to care for itself and we are only to maintain, not help with any human made input.

    1) sun light
    2) humus
    can't escape

  • @williamwaters4506

    Scientists no longer use the word Humus, because it cannot be defined. Basically, what is called humus is just compost that has been decayed down to its smallest particles so it can be absorbed by plant roots.

    in the absence of humus 😬 😂
    synthetic fertilizer is use to replace organic humus, have to buy , it also distroy the environment, what a high price for the future generation to pay

  • @bazzaharrington3298

    High quality production but unfortunately the content of the information is complete Bullshite because the scienc tells us that today we know there is no such thing as humus , poor work by the prodution team on the lack of research of the real current scientific thinking on this subject
