"Nicolas Royston Thanks for doing this for us Nutn! I got a job selling guns at a store one time and was able to know what I was talking about because i've been watching you these past years. 3 1mo The Nutnfancy Project Great to hear Nicolas, thanks for saying that. I hope you're the Guru there! 1 1mo Luke Alan Surface Digging the variety in the KRV’s Nutn! 1 1mo The Nutnfancy Project THanks LAS 1 1mo Caleb Gips Got my start with case knives! Glad to see a place for them in TNP. 1mo The Nutnfancy Project THanks C 1mo Patrick Brichta That's awesome! I actually found my dad's old case knife from when he was a kid a few weeks back. It's a neat way to connect back to him, he passed away back in 1991, and I know he used to carry that when he was younger. The handle is hey beautiful burnt red color, and the blade is Rusted pretty badly but still Sharp. Cool way to connect back two times as long ago 1 1mo The Nutnfancy Project "Cool way to connect back two times as long ago" Glad you found that knife, what a keepsake. We can do this with all sorts of gear items but these Canoe knives take it next level since they capture that time so well. 1 1mo Load 1 reply RowdyRon Wanted a Case knife so bad when I was a kid. Years later when I was old enough to buy one I got the "Sodbuster". It was my emergency defensive knife in my teens! Love the large text inlay on the ones you have. Great knife company. Thanks Nutn! 2 1mo Jason Burson Another sodbuster owner here. My uncle took me and his son to Avery’s welding and feed in Pennington Texas and bought himself, his son and me one back in 1995. Yellow handle, rusty blade but was easy to learn to sharpen. Hit the nail on the head with heirloom / collectibility POU 2 1mo Justin Is this a repost? I swear you had a similar video a little while back. Love the knives though. 4 1mo Matthew Sinn I agree.... definitely saw this before. Probably just a video that got lost in the shuffle and ended up at the top of the stack again. 2 1mo Load 1 reply Bryce L There is something about the traditional's that have definitely peaked my interest lately. They've been gaining popularity and I'm not ashamed to say i'm on board. Childhood memories and the "don't need everything right now" approach has developed a new respect for slipjoints. J Oeser has brought traditional's to a whole new level, with a price of course , but love the KRV's , keep them coming. 1mo Robert E Lewis "Get a folding knife that fits well in the hand, not too big or small, nor too far or thin. Get one that's unique, that you like, 'cause then you're gonna take care of it and everyone will know it's yours. Last but not least, it's gonna be the knife you carried when you go on these trips, and while that may not mean a lot to you now, it will when you get to be my age.". -My scout master on selecting a pocket knife for a winter camping trip down part of the Appalachian Trail in the Shenandoah Valley. 1 1mo The Nutnfancy Project THat man is wise 1 1mo matt Very nice collection. The quality of case is great I have just a few so far. Will get more when I can. 1mo Lon N Memory lane indeed. No Case knife from my past, but the blade sure does look like my Boy Scout knife. My first pocket knife was a Barlow at 7 years old. I learned how to sharpen knives on that Barlow and I still prefer old fashioned stones to sharpen a knife even though I have an Edge Pro Apex knockoff. 1 1mo John Busch Lost my scout knife years ago, but I still have my buck 305 that I bought as my first work knife back in the early 70's. Used and abused, but still works fine. Retired to the desk for opening letters now. 2 1mo Michael Morris Many of us buy them, and as soon as we get them home stick them in a potato... so they will get that patina more or less immediately. 1mo The Nutnfancy Project Good idea Michael 1mo Lee Harrell Last thing I needed was more Case knives but you got me. Just spent a boatload on Canoe knives on Amazon! Have a great weekend, Nutn! 1mo The Nutnfancy Project They'll make you happy...use my links next time ;-) 1 1mo Load 1 reply Bluegill097 Always room for a case review in my day! Thanks Nutn //Nancy Merrell-Robertson I love Case knives. I have a couple that I purloined from my husband and brothers. They feel so good in the palm of my hand! 1mo Shawn Kuse I am a more Victorinox slip joint person, but I did pick up a Case Caribbean Blue knife that fits in my change pocket in my jeans. Small knife, but had to have one, mostly because of the inlay handle material and colors. 1mo Porter3861 Recently purchased a Case Green Zebra wood Barlow folder and LOVE IT. It showed up with an amazing edge to it. Almost as good as the edge that came on the Benchmade Bugout. Just a solid, beautifully made Barlow knife. 1mo Chris Hibler Love my Case knife collection. Case now offers two (maybe more) assisted opening knives that are sweet. Check ‘em out. Oh, that 1 of 3000 means it is one of three thousand vs #1 of 3000. Had me the first time too. :-) 1mo Grant Cates Definitely agree with your POU. I keep buying them and never carry them :( 1mo Chris Definitely an iconic blade shape! Really is a perfect example of how things used to be, beautiful knives I love the handle colors and the nice mirror finish! Great review nutn glad to see companies like case keeping it going! 1mo Bernt Ryggs My dad had a case knife collection. He carried one of these canoe knives on his person every day of his life since he was a teenager. My brother and I split his collection when he passed. We are happy to carry on the tradition 1 1mo Tygre A good, old-fashioned Case XX is hard to beat, really. 1mo Pvt_Schmuckatelli Hey Nutn! Love you. Love your show. You're right about the nostalgia aspect of owning a Case knife. They totally remind me of being in the Boy Scouts and running around out in the woods exploring and just having fun being a kid. Back in the day, you had one of two knives in your pocket. You either had a Case or a Buck knife. Both companies still make quality blades. Keep on crankin' out the KRVs. Tango Yankee Victor Mike. 1 1mo ANDREW HELSEL Awesomeness. I grew up with Old Timer, mini Swiss Army and Buck flippers, now I'm definitely adding Case and Kershaws to my collection. Question: any update on the custom TNP knife posted June 20 about color ideas? I've got $200 set aside for this; missed the lightning special edition. "

Got to love traditional knives, its like looking at a really old car...You cant appreciate new knives unless you have some respect for what they use to be...

  • @umac76
    @umac76 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

For me, it's not so much a matter of nostalgia or tradition, but the look and feel of slip joint knives that I like. The visual beauty of the handle materials, the nickel silver bolsters and shields, brass liners and pins, the visible springs, everything is so shiny. And the way it feels to open and close them, what they call walk and talk. My Spyderco and Benchmade knives are far better, more useful and more sensible, but I’m still drawn to traditional knives. They feel better in the hand. Especially Case knives because they’re tumbled, so all the rough edges are removed and they just feel so good.

I've carried either a Case or Old Timer 3 blade ever since my father took me to pick out my first knife... As boys we'd play mumbly peg in the school yard b4 class. Then make sharp sticks out of dull ones after lunch. Still carry a 3 blade Old Timer, never use it, I use a spring assist most of the time, but I'll always carry a pocket knife cause that's what men do ;-) Thanks dad!!!

Ive always loved case knives. Started from my grandfather, hes been a case knife person his whole life. And were pocket knife people. One of the three things I always have on me is a pocket knife, although I'm not into tactical types. Found an old case in a tackle box someone gave me rusted to death. Went at it with some steel wool and remoil and it cleaned up superbly and is still sharp as can be. I'm getting My grandfather one of their navy collectible knives for Christmas.

Still have the scar on my index finger from my first Case knife. My grandad gave it to me and I tried to open a pecan with it while him and my dad were working on one of our Allis-Chalmer 8040s.Between him, my dad, and me we probably have 20 of them bought from 1920's through the late 80's. Think it might be time to run down to the implement store and pick up another one to give dad for Xmas.

It’s made in the USA, it’s a high quality knife that kids could have and no one complained that a kid had a pocket knife. Boy Scouts had knifes like this and again most knifes we carried in our pockets as kids were make in the USA. Kids had pocket knifes in their pockets and a .22 over their shoulder and it was normal and we were responsible and no one cared because that was normal as it should be.
You could go to school with a Case pocket knife and it was normal and no one cared.
We were taught to be responsible and we were. Now people are hyper-sensitive about having a paper clip in your packet.

At the end of the fifties I was bought my first pocket knife, a two bladed Victorinox. I have had a knife of some kind in my pocket ever since. I like the look of those Case knives, but don’t really like multibladed knives, not very comfortable in heavy use. Currently I always have a Wright lambfoot blade deep in my pocket, I’ve worn three out so far !

China makes a great Case canoe knock off. It's marketed by Rough Rider. Goes for about $14.00

Steel warrior knives are made in China and my $16 trapper is similar to my case. I use my Chinese knife but keep my case in a drawer-lol

My weakness is for Case mini-stockman knives. I have a few dozen different handles.

I love me a conoe every now and then!
As I live 20 Km away from Solingen obviously not a Case, but they really do some good work. Obviously a bit under what GEC Does, but it still super decent! And fo me their handles are even better than GEC, but they are a good bit off on the blades, just not as crispy and way overpolished tips most of the time.

I'll never buy a case knife again. Bought a 130$ collector's edition knife for my grandfather as a Christmas gift. It had a quarter inch unpolished finish on the blade with the engraving.. three week response time. Customer service was completely incompetent.

I wish Case would made more handle styles in CV steel. I think that is amber bone, not chestnut bone.

Call me crazy, but I’d love for case to make a knife that had that old school look and feel, but a modern deployment and locking system for easy one had operation. Maybe even a pocket clip. If they had something like that I’d literally buy 2 or 3 in different colors/handles

Id like to find a small game knife modeled after the larger blade, in STOCKMAN style pocket knives. Any idea of something like that anyone? Ive got a old RANGER(made in USA) stockman style in carbon steel, given to me by my grandfather, years ago. Good for small game but sucks to clean being carbon steel, and keeping it from rusting. I usually wash up with hot water and dish soap and let air dry then oil it up. Be nice to find a fixed single blade like the main blade that I use the most. When comes to classic folders, I like the Trapper and Stockman style best.

I don't have any Case Knives. They are beautiful and too expensive for me. I do have a few pocket knives from S&W & Schrade.
