I believe some torque steer is also at play here but balancing the wheels is still the way to go. Also, remember wheel bearings can be very sensitive and balancing your wheels might make bearing replacements a bit less frequent
Awesome video's keep up the good work. I have a Vantage also (Brushed) found the steering not so good also but have found that it was hard to move the steering. The problem was the linking arm between the left and right uprights was screwed down to hard and would not let the steering move properly all the time. Also put some Vaseline on the bushes, it now moves much more freely. The other problem I have is sourcing parts I live in NZ they are only in UK. Look forward to your next Video :)
Good info, thanks I see the point for racing, true, yet for crawling, not required going way too slow. thanks again I have several racers and just getting into balancing.
hey m8, i use lead tape that is meant for golf. Cost peanuts from Ebay. Doesnt take much on inside of wheel, so once have correct amount of tape stuck in place i actually super glue over top of it just to make sure it doest come loose. Once dried its impossible to remove without some serious persuasion.
ye ive had similar probs with the steering sticking on the vantage, but thsat was mainly due to rebuild mistakes :) main prob ive had with sticking parts is new wheel/tires. Most 1/10 hubs all have different depth of hex's that drive the wheel. The street wheels i use at moment are very deep so i have to pack the driveshaft with 3 washers 1st to stop the wheel touching the hubs.
Do you balance when new? I have a Traxxas Summit brand new and the tires are oblong because of the packing. Foam must have some flat spots on it. Do I balance now or run it first and wait for the foam to re-sit themselves?
Ah sweet video... Noticed this problem with my vorza. Now to learn art of wheel balancing! Do u still play around with ur vorza? Do u know where one can get hotbody upgrades to the vorza ? Looking for alum spindle carriers for front and back!
really cool video, nice to actually show why it is important to do little things such as wheel balancing to have a better car.
