    The trail looks so interesting and I’m happy to hear it’s part of the River City ride in October. And your ‘hill secret’ is safe with me! 🤐

    I just discovered this trail driving past the sign. It looks great for a bike ride. I gotta come back for that🚲.

    Hey Bryan,
    I'm staying at my sisters in North East, MD (you rode real close to her place when you did the Turkey Point lighthouse ride). I'm going to do the C&D ride tomorrow, June 19. I'll start from Chesapeake City. Love you vids and thoughts on life. Retirement is a year away for me.

    Ahhhh the C&D. I always try to do a ride there once a summer. I have my Pine Creek adventure coming up this Tuesday; I’ll let you know how it went. Enjoy the Eerie Canal brother! 🚴‍♂️

      Enjoy Pine Creek. Hope you get some fall colors. I just passed Wellsboro yesterday on the way back from the Erie and the yellows are coming through. The Erie was awesome, btw. Just fantastic fall weather.

    I'm also retired...from onsite work, that is LOL! It's not that different from my old life pre-2021; the hours are the same. Only difference is that I could finally ditch the car (and with it the insurance, maintenance, etc.) and just do most of my errands on bicycle and/or transit. So just like you, I've been biking more and discovering so much beauty along my local trails here in the Nebraska-Iowa border.

    Really enjoyed your video Bryan, especially because I will be moving to Dover, DE next year. I am retired now so I am looking forward to getting a lot of riding in. The trails seem to be ideal & at least there are some bike lanes on the streets there. Hope to catch up with you in Dover.

    Thanks for the video-I’ve ridden this trail many times. The history lesson greatly appreciated.
    Cake Sisters in Delaware City is a great stop.
    And you know there’s some nice gravel sections on the North side of the canal.
    And where is that huge parking lot in Delaware City?? I normally park in Chesapeake City, but now Schaefer’s has put up signs warning to not park in the big lot.

      Head down Clinton, hang a left in Harbor (at the end) and you’ll run right into it. Lots of parking. Yeah in CC, I park under the bridge (overflow). I hope they aren’t taking that away.

      Correct! Just bought a Hover X1. Review will be forthcoming. It’s ok. Sort of a toy. I just finished the Erie Canal ride today…it’s broken but I think I can fix it…so, I’m not super impressed with it.

      Thanks! I’m on day 5 of 7. We just hit Pittsford. Yeah, the jury is still out on that “drone”. It hit a branch about 50’ up today and fell to the ground. Broke part of the propeller cage. Bryan not happy. It feels more like a toy than a real drone and isn’t programmed with enough intelligence to avoid stuff like tree limbs, people, etc. I’ve gotten a little footage with it on the Erie. Anyway…how bout this weather???? Awesome. 🙂

    • @easternbushytail
      @easternbushytail ปีที่แล้ว

      @RideAlongAdventures That's great. Sorry about the drone. You're giving it the test it needs. You'll be In my neck of the woods on Friday. I have to go to Cleveland on Friday for the weekend. Darn it!. Just be careful of the glass on the roads when you hit Hertel and Niagara Streets towards Downtown Buffalo.. The weather has been great this week. Can't wait to see your trip.

    Excellent! Such a nice trail I wanna ride it! I actually passing Delaware next week on my way to New York and Albany. Going to ride the other leg of the Empire State Trail from Albany to New York City.
    I'm adding your trail to my must ride list. Maybe I can ride all away to South Delaware and take the rout 9 as you recommend. Have to look into it and put some kind of action plan in place. Thanks for the video. 👍
    Wow, you retired early 57. I'm 59 and semi-retired. We have very similar schedule. Glad you got the video done before Erie Canal tour. I totally agree with you about Erie Canal Trail it's an amazing trail. It was 30 minute video but felt like 10 minutes you did a great job! 😊

      Yeah, it’s true. That’s been basically wetlands (swamp) for a long time. It’s weird because it almost looks like they abandoned the initial work they began.

    • @gorrdd
      @gorrdd ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RideAlongAdventures If it's wet lands, then they will have to haul in allot of earth to build it up a couple of feet. It will be a mess for a while.
      We have that here in greater Fort Worth where they are reclaiming land close to water to maximize the property values.
      I've been wondering where all the liquidity was coming from, given the economy and condition of the banks.
      Then it dawned on me that this is liquidity that has come out of the stock market by those who aren't planning on investing back into the stock market and want hard assets.
      Real estate is the big winner here... but who will buy these homes without fresh liquidity. The banks have had to tighten their belts... even for auto loans.
      Then where will the buyers come from... who can afford the interest rates.

    Bryan, a general training question: do you train for a specific pace or do you just ride at a comfortable relaxed pace , or some combination thereof?

    • @RideAlongAdventures
      @RideAlongAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it’s a good question. I’m not sure how to answer. Generally on tours I just ride at a comfortable pace and leave it be-like whatever pace let’s me enjoy the scenery and keep smiling. But I still try to “train” with intervals and tempo sessions. I think I train more with running than cycling. Do you train? If so, how? I’d like to learn more about how bike packers/tourers prepare. I’m on the Erie Canal trail this week and I’ve met several long distance folks and after talking to them I feel like I’ve got A LOT to learn about being a better cyclist.

    • @ronhoover5516
      @ronhoover5516 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RideAlongAdventures I don't ride as much or as far as you do, and I'm just getting into touring. I ride about 3 times a week and being newly semi-retired I'm ramping up my training. For training I try and ride at a pace that isn't too easy but isn't too hard. I try to keep my legs moving but I don't track cadence or heart rate. I can tell if I've pushed too hard on a ride, especially in peak of heat season, if I'm trashed after a ride I know I went too hard. Your videos are very motivational and aspirational, for me, so thank you for yur great efforts in putting these together Bryan!
