I paid 25.00 for Leatherman wingman at menards years ago before the prices inflated. Picked up 4 of them. They were eliminating Leatherman tools down to only one Leatherman style so it was on massive price reduction. It looked obvious because they offered the entire Gerber lineup since Bear Grylls was showcasing his up and coming lineup of Gerber survival tools. I suppose they saw dollar signs when they seen a popular survival tv celebrity.

I think they would have been better off sticking with Leatherman, the Bear Grylls tools are pretty cheap and I doubt they are selling very well. Actually I think if I'm not mistaken my Menards is still selling Leatherman.

I agree, sub US$30 Leatherman Wingmen are awesome, too bad they're too close to the Rebar now in price. Try out the Gerber NXT (not the Truss), it replaced the Wingman as my most recommended budget multitool :)

Hello, Ben - good video - While I understand that preferences for these tools are subjective; I have to respectfully disagree with you concerning the Rev. I bought mine at Home Depot for $21 and change; a good price at the time...they are still being sold there for $41 and change now...I think the pliers and cutters and fit and finish are better than the Wingman and the Sidekick...the blade was very sharp from the get- go and I don't mind opening the blade with two hands...the package cutter is really excellent...I wish Leatherman would have added scissors to it...I don't care for spring assisted pliers, it's just another thing to break and l have better control without them...they have their uses for light to medium tasks; I have other Leathermans, but I will carry it with a folder if I'm travelling light or in my bag if I think I'll need the package cutter...I think many folks think it's the "runt" of the litter, but I find it a nice light sturdy tool for my needs on any given day...

Do you have any Leatherman tools in black oxide? I just picked up a Surge off of your recommendation but went for the black oxide option as a bit of a last minute decision for the look. Doing some quick research it seems steel quality should be the same. Some people mentioned it may be a bit "stickier" due to the black oxide coating. Wondering if you have any experience/preference one way or the other. Love your videos, super thorough and informative, thank you!

Bolster holster, what a tongue twister! I thought of asking you to review this tool after Maxlvledc posted his video about this tool, but I didn’t want to push you, that is, in any sense. So purely in terms of the tools included, Rev is Wingman minus a scissors, and Bolster is Sidekick minus a saw.
