For me, it comes down to this:
R6: Easy to animate, no need to worry about hitboxes, generally the classic, also no need to worry about seeing inside the clothes due to anims lol.
R15: Harder to animate but can make animations look more smoother, hitboxes can become an issue, unless you have a set height and such. Supports anims, emotes, 3D clothes and Dynamic faces (Wow!!!)
Rthro: Same as R15, but visually unpleasing. The only good thing that came out of this was the UGC bundles lol.
The reason people hate rthro is because they can't make a good looking avatar
Trust me, my avatar creation skills are on another level compared to more than most

Rthro is only used by trolls
Rthro could've been explained better. It isn't just the height that defines if it is Rthro or not, but Rthro avatars are the more human type of avatars compared to a more cartoony, unrealistic avatar. The body type slider to scale your avatar was probably just made to make Rthro avatars fit in a bit more with regular avatars.
An easy way to tell Rthro avatars apart from R15 is that if the avatar doesn't look like its from Roblox, it's Rthro (usually).
Another thing I've also noticed is that Roblox's new default avatar doesn't use parts but instead is just one big mesh that is rigged using joints (which explains the weird things that can happen with emotes sometimes).

I wouldn't exactly call tall R15 Rthro, there's a difference between a tall blocky avatar and the absolute monstrosities Roblox has been trying to shove down our throats.

@@GreenHura Yeah, but the package is meant to be proportioned similarly to the other Rthro packages. Therefore, it counts as Rthro.

Being an obbyist, I’m practically stuck with just this style since the hit boxes are the most consistent and easier to see.

Imagine an obby with R15 using the Werewolf, Zombie, or Pirate Animation pack
for me,
r6: no leg and hand collision and less worry for hitboxes which make it compatible for high difficulty obbies like Tower of Hell and other obbies.
r15: it is still possible to do high difficulty obbies with this, but the hand collision and unnatural walking animation on the default anim makes it pretty annoying since it could push you off.
R15 characters also dont have collision in their arms or legs, but the torso moves more with some animations which sometimes pushes into walls which makes you fall off thin ledges that are against walls
Despite everyone saying R6 4 life. R15 is still my forté. I like to be able to have bends you know + inverse kinematics.

I wish that the girl torso's hourglass shape was kept whenever it's changed to r15 instead of relying on the UGC bundles that don't support the r6 technologies
@@FiremanSamBoy2008 Nah only cool if you got a fitting animation for your avatar. I only got old school anim pack cuz I need it for my camper avatar (Don't ask why. It just makes me blend in better with terrain)

there is zero reason roblox couldn’t of added layered clothing for r6. the logistics work the exact same as it normally would but with less moving parts. roblox just chose to neglect r6 to push their newer identity of the platform.
R6 is a whole separate and now outdated system compared to r15, which is why they recently announced deprecating r6 and creating a "alternative" r6 system that similar to r15 and can support the new features
I like r6 and r15, but I prefer r6 cuz it's very cool ngl.
making games with r6 is alot easier than with r15 due to how its easier to animate and script stuff with, since by animating with r6 all you have to do is move one limb and it already looks smooth, however with r15 you have to move every individual body part of that one limb to make it look slightly good

I forgot the difference between r6 and r15 and i had it on for a while until i figured out how to turn on r6, r6 feels better for more classick-y, simple games and most games in general but r15 can be more fitting at times. Definitely prefer r6 tho as it fits more with actual roblox.

In more of my terms on how I differentiate r6, r15, and Rthro goes as follows:
R6- 6 joints, common and easy to use and animate, some games use this for their own in-game layered clothing (not applied to outside the game), unable to use layered clothing, dynamic faces can’t move (at this time, there will be a upcoming feature to have both have animated heads and layered clothing on r6 in game), a perfect way to make reference poses and Art, very common type to be used in 2d art amongst the roblox art community, unable to use avatar body scaling.
R15- 15 joints, rarely used in roblox animations due to the amount of joints you have to animate, supports layered clothing, dynamic heads are animated, be able to use avatar body scaling.
Rthro- for me, it’s has 15 joints (of course r6 supports Rthro), has a much more taller-relastic appearance to that of a real world being (example: lil Nas X), hard to animate due to it having 15 joints, supports layered clothing, dynamic heads are animated and can move.
In the video it shows around the 2:52 mark, it shows a tall soldier who doesn’t look realistic like the vampire on left, this also shows a slender who doesn’t look realistic in shape. and he mentions that it’s also an Rthro. Despite its tall size. The shape itself doesn’t apply.
Like what I said earlier, an Rthro avatar looks tall and has a realistic appearance. How can I forget, despite r6 both not supporting avatar scaling and supporting Rthro, that doesn’t mean Rthro is tall and real. That can also apply to r6 realistic-like avatars. Generally, Rthro is just a realistic shape of a real world being.
Wouldn’t the slender still count as an rthro because it has a part of an rthro bundle on it?

hated r15 at first when it was added back in like 2018 thought it looked strange then over time it didnt bother me as much the more i saw it then i recently started using it in casual gameplay and for working on my projects and i actually like it more than r6 cause it actually has support

Interesting, I knew the difference between r6 and r15 but I didn't really know how rthro was different
As I said before, and I will keep saying, I don't like how R15 messes up clothes at the joints.
Plus from what little I've dabbled in animation, (and also if you apply some logic to it) R6 is far less of a pain to deal with.
And last but not least, it is far more reliable, gameplay wise, as if you've played games like MM2 or Assassin, you know there's people who exploit the nature of R15 and Rthro to make their avatars tiny, and incredibly annoying to deal with.
This becomes even more commonplace with the advent of cheap UGC packages which make your avatar as small as possible.
only reason i use r6 is because of its flexibility of movement. simple hitboxes and shift lock just give so much possibilities for obbies. im talking more about harder stuff than tower of hell, advanced obbies in roblox is pretty damn cool

R6 and R15 are basically the core avatar types of roblox. Aint no way someone picks rthro instead of blocky avatars and packages.

Here are some things I like about each type because why not:
R6:
-Easier to animate, therefore saving lots of time
-Clothes don’t distort, making you look better
-good hitboxes, better for obbies and pvp
R15:
-customizable heights give characters more personality
-more realistic and advanced animations
-different walking animations give characters more personality
Rthro:
-can be interesting to use in character customization (IF USED RIGHT)
-unique scaling on each avatar gives opportunities to experiment
R15 and Rthro are the same, Rthro is just a scaled up character using the proportion settings for R15.
