      Yeah honestly that’s the main issue with it. it’s a great car it’s just too expensive

      You can get 2 1/2 Nismo Note E powers for the same money and have zero range anxiety. An absolute failure from Honda on this one.

    One of the few EVs that genuinely appeal to me. If I had the money to run more than one car, I'd be looking at one of these as my daily runabout for sure.

    • @KiwiCarLife

      Yeah I’d consider one once they come down in price. Only as a daily though would have to have another fun petrol car too

    • @wardog0086

      @ Oh absolutely. It'd have to be part of a small fleet, but I still love the look of them.
      I love the retro styling, and the interiors look lovely. Iirc, you could option them with a small electric scooter that'd tuck away under the boot space, as a callback to the same setup with the Honda City Turbo.

    • @dill6078

      I'd rather a Mini SE for that price, they're so much fun to throw around

    • @wardog0086

      @ Fun wouldn't be a huge concern for me if I was buying a small EV tbh, so the styling of the Honda makes it more appealing.
      Something like this would be for getting to work and back, and running errands, more than anything else.

      @@dill6078 Having driven both the mini imo was ok but it felt like a heavy small FWD, and I couldn't shake the thought that it wasn't the best driving mini, that for less money I could get a better mini with less weight by buying the petrol one.

    If only Honda actually had done a revised version of the e - instead they canned it and came out with the thoroughly underwhelming ENY:1 (I think that's how the model's spelt), which is just a cobbled together EV version of the current HR-V. Jonny Smith's review of it on The Late Brake Show is well worth a watch.

    • @KiwiCarLife

      Yeah the e was a cool conecpt and managed to be different from all the other EV’s, but with technology developing so fast do you think by now they could’ve come out with a much better version rather than something totally different

    • @ZacBernasconi

      The reviewer at the end asks for more range, larger boot, more leg room and a lower price.... Honda delivered that with the ENY:1... have to be careful what we wish for.

      Interior is “nice”. It’s very well built, despite looking a bit odd. It’s just the battery that’s the issue. Driving experience is fine but it needs at least 300km range to be competitive

    Are the heated seats not draining a 12v ancillary battery as opposed to the drive battery?

    • @KiwiCarLife

      I think pretty much everything on the car drains the main battery, certainly affects range anyway

    • @craigauty6756

      @KiwiCarLife Intresting, in a leaf the AC would effect range but not heated seats

    • @iwanttobeamole

      The heates seats make no discernible difference to range. AC will subtract 5-8km range from a full charge, heating will remove about 15km's from a full range. All in all, for a round town car, none of that matters. Still does great skids and gets off the mark faster than a holden.

    In China and Europe you can get the HR-V in fully electric form as the e:NP1 or e:NS1 in China (depending on what factory it comes from apparently), the e:Ny1 in Europe and the UK, and as the e:N1 in Hong Kong and Thailand.
    it has a range of 256 miles/411 Kilometres. and they are all built in China. Prices in the UK start at around £40,645 which is $88,090 at the current exchange rate. This is insane when you compare it to something like an MG 4 EV which in the UK starts off at £26,995/$58,506, Honda really needs to buck its ideas up. In the UK they sold 25,274 cars in 2023 meanwhile Ford sold double that amount in Puma crossovers alone. I digress, RIP Honda E 2020-2024 gone too soon

    • @KiwiCarLife

      Yeah it's true... certainly in the UK Hondas are just way too expensive to be competitive.

    I wish Honda will make Honda E2. At the very least make it cheaper which I think what hurt the sales of this. Then try to improve the range a bit more, but maybe it doesn't need to be super high for this intended city or town commuter car. And just better back-seat and boot space. Don't need to change alot of this, even design is cute and unique, albeit indeed doesn't follow the modern Honda design language. Still a nice looking car.
    Maybe they can make this cheaper with normal side and rear mirrors. Maybe even reducing the screen, or if they can keep it, even better as Honda could make this towards to their future cars anyways.
    I think power train can be just the same, just tweak to be bit more efficient and add but of torque for things when needed but not always. Chassis seems to be already good and other things, so best to keep that to reduce the cost.

    • @KiwiCarLife

      Yeah see that’s the problem Honda doesn’t have the balls to just make a cheap car they always have to add in all sorts of extra bits and bobs that make it “ nice” but also really expensive. They would sell so many more cars if they didn’t overcomplicate things.
