As an older person, and definitely not a beginner artist, it's sad to see how people behave nowadays on social media against artists, where even something like this has become the norm. This is one of the many reasons why the only places I've been posting art in recent years have been in Discord to certain servers and in Facebook only to the people I know irl.

    • @kitkeke0_
      @kitkeke0_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

That's completely understandable, it took me so long to upgrade my skills and actually feel like I was in a comfortable place to upload my art to the Internet. It's sad that being mean is just so normalized nowadays

@@kitkeke0_ I think it was somewhere back in 2005 where I posted my first drawings to the internet, and when I joined one small anime community in 2008, people were very helpful to help me to improve and such, since my art wasn't the best. I must admit I miss those times sometimes.
But currently I'm following more where this AI goes, as it has been my biggest problem to mostly disappear from social media.

There's this Art website called Cara , I upload most of my art there as I have assurance that my Art won't be used for AI plus it has a very lovely community on there

@@kitkeke0_ I've heard about it, and so far it does seem like a nice place (compared at least to several other sites). But I'd like to wait a bit before jumping into something completely new. Besides, I'm currently going through "an art training session", since there are some new things I want to learn before drawing an actual piece yet. But if Cara stays the same in the future, I'll probably join there ;)

Sorry this is long but got to say this...
I'm so glad to see older artists on here! I'm going to be honest I don't post my art but my friend does and I'm concerned. I know the issues with AI but what gets me is some of these artists out here are doing some weird stuff worst than AI to get favs and likes.I'm not going to say any names but my friend caught a traditional artist taking her concepts boldly and designs but its like the other artist was taking every word and image my friend posted and was drawing it in every piece of her art! It's like some kind of mimic covert copying. I saw a post on reddit of another artist saying the same thing and I'm wondering is this some kinda thing that is going on. I personally feel this other artist is a narc because she thinks because shes a trad artist no one can touch her and she has her followers going along with it! She has to see her name getting praise all the time and I feel she was mad that my friend was getting praise on her unique ocs and she wanted that. I'm at the point now I don't even trust traditional artists because of what I saw. I need to say not that I'm trying to bring race up but I've been noticing lately a ton of Black female artists being attacked to a point of leaving their platforms. This concerns me because I'm like there are a lot of talented Black artist out here but they don't see their work is being taken by this weird technique by these people who think they are entitled to get their praise. Its Envy on a screwed up new level!

The main problem is the world is way more connected than ever before. If you grew up somewhere before the Internet caught on, you MAYBE knew one or two highly skilled people in the area. Nowadays, people are so used to seeing prodigies growing up on the Internet that they grew desensitized witnessing skill and talent on display. When someone is seen starting from the ground up, it confuses them and they don't know what to do with themselves. They let their expectations of beginners inflated so much that it's "cringe" enough to become an excuse for cyberbullying artists (who are often, like you said, young children) off their platforms.

i really dont understand this, bc i'm maybe not a BEGINNER beginner, i'm still not that good, and when i see someone who's super skilled i'm genuinely amazed. i'm not desensitized AT ALL and it even makes me lose some motivation. or gain some when i remember that i have a lot of time to learn still. when i look at my old art i make fun of it because it's ugly, but it's me making fun of MY art. i'm so happy i didn't post anything anywhere like three or two years ago, or even one year ago. definitely would've gotten made fun of. which is funny because i've always been the best at art in my whole class😭 but i guess people don't understand that kids aren't super good at art. i was bad three years ago because i was like TEN. like it looked so bad, but considering my age, it was actually pretty good. and now i'm 13 and my art isn't even that good yet. but i understand that i still have a lot to learn and most of these skilled people i see on the internet are MUCH older than me. people need to understand this with beginner artists too. maybe they look bad now, but didn't you? don't you look at your art from a few years ago and see how much you've improved? that's exactly what's gonna happen to these beginners sooner or later. some people really need to get that into their heads.

Those beginner artists getting bullied have one thing that I don't have: courage. Courage to post their work online because they wanted to share it with the world.
And instead of being commended for their bravery and further encouraged to draw, they are put down by the very same artists that they most likely look up to...

  • @ShyCrowBR
    @ShyCrowBR 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The issue itself is clear, people are already used to seeing masterpieces because of the internet, and anything "inferior" or "ugly" or "beginner" is worthless to them, especially with an AI that makes drawings in a matter of seconds, throwing all the effort a human puts into the trash for them, the guy thinks "why are you trying? It would clearly be better to stop because this is not for you". They forget that there is a process, trial and error.
However, a somewhat controversial opinion of mine is that I don't think we should say that everything a beginner is doing is beautiful and wonderful, because then we will have what we have in modern art, a square block or a sketch that looks like it was made by a child and people applauding as if it were the last work of the century.
But yes, we should support beginners, even though I am afraid, I posted my art and it was well received by the community I participate in, I ask for criticism and they give it, it is the balance between being understood and wanting to improve.

I miss the good old days where we would support beginner artists and artists who are learning to draw better. They're art may not look like masterpieces but you can tell that they were really trying and want to improve. If you don't like the artstyle just ignore the artist don't go bully them. Honestly people online these days just annoy me when they make fun of young artists instead of guiding them

You'll be surprised there are folks talking shit about artist they hate to their followers in code on Ig stories. My friend has another popular artist and her followers mad at her art she post for some strange reason and mocking her I personally think it's Envy but now I cant trust anything the popular artist draws because she took from my friend designs and probably takes concepts from other artists. My thing is she thought it was cute and funny to show off doing this but I just Seen another artist on TH-cam take her main oc concept down to a T and make a movie out of it and she doesnt even know it.. So Karma acts fast. But I just hate the drama.

Great commentary! As a (sort of beginner going into intermediate artist) I’ve learned constructive criticism and support is really helpful. When I was younger I used to like my art and it made me feel motivated and encouraged when some peers or adults complimented me, and later on when I started digital art a few years back (2019) my art style was rough however I hadn’t been posting anything yet, I didn’t even know how to use an eye dropper or paint bucket but I learned over time with the help of friends who did digital art as well, and then later on when I started posting art/animations I got lots of support from super nice artists/animators who were also a bit more beginner/intermediate as well; it really encouraged me to keep drawing lots and lots and on occasion I’d get tips which I took to heart; over the few years my artstyle has really developed and improved and I love to tweak certain things about my style. I feel like on TH-cam beginner artists are usually treated decently compared to on tiktok and such (however that just may be my personal experience) . I think people shouldn’t just make fun of beginner artists for having wobbly lines or such nit picky things like that; nobody was perfect when starting art and it can take years to develop a style you’re comfortable with and that makes you happy. However a good chunk of beginner artists are minors and kids emotional maturity and such can vary; so what may seem as just a ‘joke’ can be seen as hurtful to a younger person and enough of this overtime can build up a sense of dread or bitterness overall, but they attribute it to the hobby which earned them these ‘jokey’ comments. So they decide to stop doing it for their own mental health. It genuinely hurts to see beginners quit since I know how it is, and I know how lovely it can be to see your own improvement.
Sorry for the long yapping session but I just wanted to throw my own 2 cents in on it!

Just something I thought I’d add- I feel like, personally, it’s usually best to keep your criticism of other people art to yourself unless they’re specifically asking for it
I don’t know- but it just feels kind of weird to go around nitpicking and critiquing peoples work unprompted?😭
Everyone always has things they need to work on- because no one’s art is ever 100% “perfect”- but that doesn’t mean they have to work on it or want to.
Especially when art is a hobby- people just want to have fun with it, and constantly thinking about all the things I had to improve when I was younger definitely took from lots of the fun it brought be before that
When it’s unprompted, it’s just difficult to tell how your critique will be received. So try to just be nice and only offer it if it’s being asked for! (Ofc you can always do what you want and exercise your free will- it’s just easier to be thoughtful of these things! :)

That's completely understandable! I should've included that in my vid but knowing me I probably forgot to mention it 😭, honestly when I was younger I would receive so much unprompted critiques of my art and since I was so young id take the criticism to heart and get slightly disheartened so I completely get what you mean. I would also like to say that you don’t have to take criticism or advice if you don’t want to. If like 10 or 50 people are all giving you criticism and advice all at once, that will NEVER be helpful to you. It’s OVERWHELMING, that’s what it is! You take whatever advice or criticism you want and leave the rest. It doesn’t matter if the advice / criticism is good. No, you have a right to refuse advice or criticism.

Its so wrong to mock peoples art
I think we have forgotten a sense of excitement.
Sometimes young artists just want to show the world something they are proud of.
I wait for someone to ask me for help.
If you just show me your work i will boost. But if you ask for feedback I'll give it.
What happened to "if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it all"
Let people have fun and show what they have done!

Short form content just kind of rots my brain with how fast paced and shoved down your throat it can be😭😭
So it’s nice to hear someone just. Talking?? At a normal pace?
Sure, some people want a quick and to the point, simple kind of presentation. Problem and solution CER essay😭
But that’s a little robotic and sometimes overwhelming for me
Plus- I like to listen to things in the background while drawing or working, so I love longer videos and hearing people ramble about things that matter to them :)
Maybe a little silly but it’s almost like I’m actually having a conversation with them and less like they’re advertising fast food to me on TV or making a company meeting presentation 😭😭😭
