    Hi Ladies. I enjoy you’re videos. I’m queer and soon to be 59. I’m a huge soccer fan. I loved watching the USWNT and Emma beat Korea. I loved all the goals and TD and MS killed it. Let’s give Korbin a chance. She apologized for her terrible anti LGBTQ+ social media posts and reposts. She is a young woman and she said she made a mistake. I think the boos should stop. Go USWNT, and Happy Pride!

      Great point. She is young, and I think sees how her actions have hurt many people. The fans have made their voice heard, and I think she understands the deep nature of this issue. Thank you for such a thoughtful comment! I know Sarah and I sometimes walk the line of being too harsh or too easy on things but i do believe in forgiveness esp someone so young. I think she is in the right spot (uswnt) to learn a lot other than what she was taught growing up!

    England lost its first Euro qualification match since 2002. Revenge is possible on Tuesday, June 4th in St. Etienne (France).
    Great that the USA won its first match under direct supervision by Emma Hayes so clearly.
    Very excited that Tierna Davidson scored 2 goals at the beginning of Pride month.
    That Korbin Albert was booed was to be expected. Maybe Emma Hayes didnt quite realize how harming Korbin Albert's posts were.
    Happy to see Cat Macario back to the USWNT after over 2 years.

    Hello Sara and Sarah. It may not be popular, but I reckon Korbin as a footballer is exactly what Emma would be after. Not bothering with having to fit a set of values and focusing only on winning for the team. Emma talks a lot about players who can adapt tactically, like those who play in Europe. I could imagine fans in France, where she plays club football, cheering her to try to wind up any of her teammates who put values above winning.

    • @natch27
      @natch27 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You can have values and be a winner. These things are not mutually exclusive. I’m sure Albert’s teammates respect her ability and what she brings to the team. They don’t have to embrace her or even like her.
      The USWNT won back to back World Cups in ‘15 and ‘19 and I guarantee Carli Lloyd was not a fave of many of the women. They put it away when they were on the pitch.
      That’s what professionals do.

    • @alansmithee8831
      @alansmithee8831 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@natch27 You make a good point. On the other hand, the teams US faces these days are more professional and the players in Europe come from clubs where winning is everything. How many male players at such clubs would feel comfortable with being openly gay? I am not trying to just say the opposite, but to try to introduce another perspective. The ultras at French clubs, that support players such as Korbin, would be unlikely to welcome male players who celebrate pride, I would imagine. Take a look at the fans at a PSG women's game to see how different they are from those booing at the substitution described in the video.

    • @natch27
      @natch27 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@alansmithee8831 I’ll just say I watched a lot of Chelsea women’s games this past year and Hayes doesn’t look at a person’s religious beliefs or sexual orientation when making the starting lineup. As long as Korbin Albert can help the team she’ll play. Emma lost Kerr and Fishel but signed Ramirez and eventually won the WSL. She is expert at finding the right combination of players. She was the right hire and I expect them to do very well at the Olympics. Now can they beat Spain with Bonmati and Putellas, that’s another story.

    How is it better to change Albert’s jersey number from Rapinoe’s 15 to O’Hara’s 5? Two out gay USWNT LEGENDS. Korbin will never admit her homophobia in public. Her “sorry moment” was a short-lived Instagram story that vanished into nowhere. She’s as disturbing as the creepy “Tim Tebow” player that’s also currently on the team. It’s extremely difficult to support the USWNT. Fortunately, we mostly follow European football.

Before anyone comes at me, I'm not saying people cannot have their religion and belief in whatever God, just that there are plenty of religious humans who are not bigots. The two shouldn't be mutually exclusive. Thanks for your videos, Sara and Sarah. I always enjoy them!

    It’s Absolutely Amazing!!!! The USMNT is only Korbin Albert’s part time job. Her full time job is playing for Paris St. Germain. A month ago when Korbin was persecuted by the Godless atheist of and associated with the USWNT it did not carry over to the Parisians!!!!! I felt the need to check and see if PSG captain
    Grace Geyoro held a similar press conference to the one held by Alex and Lindsey. Much to my surprise, she did not! Amazing! I then felt the need to see if Korbin’s PSG coach Jocelyn Precheur had a similar press conference to the one that Twila had, it was again AMAZING!! He did not!!! Then, I felt the need to check and see if the PSG fans at any time booed Korbin. To my surprise, there is no evidence of this at all!!! Once again AMAZING!! Wow, if there are any Godless Atheists in Paris, they are really quiet.

    At its best, I think that the queer community is countercultural in so many ways, and the Albert situation presents an opportunity to demonstrate that. There are Christians who disown, (among other worse things) their children simply for being queer or trans. It appears that Albert comes from a community where a version of this behavior either happens openly or behind closed doors. The queer community can be a space of radical acceptance of people as their authentic selves. Being homophobic is not a part of who a person is but rather what they've been taught. If Albert can truly learn and grow as well as make a true effort to undo the harm she has done to the women's soccer space, rather than revert back to her previous beliefs and cling to homophobic Christian fans, I actually think her life could be changed for the better. If she ever becomes a true, vocal ally, Albert would also be an incredible role model for others who grow up amidst harmful beliefs but change when given the opportunity to get to know the queer community and see that being open to the realities of others is a gift rather than something to condemn. She has a lot of internal work to do and we'll probably never know if it happens, but I hope she grows. Wearing the rainbow jersey and changing numbers are two pretty okay first steps (for now).

    Sara Sarah - I have enjoyed your colorful commentary for 1 to 2 years now, sadly, I've found your post regarding Korbin a bit upsetting. Ok, so she said some "bad" things that the LBGTQ found offensive. Maybe some things were taken out of context or maybe not. She's young, she made a mistake and she apologized (I'm sure she kinda had to). I really feel we need to keep "sexual preference" out of sports. (This also applies to the WNBA) However, something Sara or Sarah (I can never remember who's who) stated in your video really confused me. "If she played for another sport, if she was like a baseball player, ok but...." So now I can say that Sara (or Sarah) is "ok" with baseball players to disrespect the LBGTQ? hmm, not good. Anyway, I'm sure she regrets what she posted and she apologized, let's move on. Please, stop fanning the flames.
    Also, you forgot to mention that Mallory scored those 2 goals in her own backyard. She's from Littleton, CO! Absolutely great start for Mal!!

    • @SaraSarah
      @SaraSarah  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hey! Thank you for your comment, I can see your point of view. I am still torn about a lot that has to do with Korbin. But the part you said I agree she's young, and she apologized, and this isn't like a repeat offender situation or anything. But I think you're right, too many of these videos on our part may even hinder the message. So thank you for taking the time to comment, and I hear you!! Also, I guess my point about the baseball is that they have never been an ally for the LGBTQ+ community, but since the USWNT and US Soccer have made it clear how much the LGBTQ+ community means to soccer, I guess I would expect more from them as an organization than MLB. But yeah, the comparison seemed faulty, I can see that. i Think we still might disagree on a few points but these discussions are good to keep moving forward in sport!

    Korbin stupidly reposted homophobic content on social media and has to live with that choice. It will never go away and may ruin her career. I think she was 19? We're all still learning how to manage social media. So many celebrities and other well known figures have made mistakes. Yes she is homophobic and she won't be the only person on the team or in soccer who has different values. She was just really stupid and immature in being open about her views and underestimating the impact. I don't know about booing a 20 year old for different values and stupidity. Honestly she is just a kid! People are loving having a villain which is hateful in its own way. Leave the baby alone and move on...I think the team have and we all know how much they adore Megan. But, after seeing that they were wearing Pride jerseys this game, I was stoked Emma brought her in the game and thus we now have film of her wearing a rainbow jersey. Yeah she probably hated every minute of it but she needs to get over it and this is a good step- and also for her to realize that supporting the queer community won't result in her being struck by lightning or whatever her crazy religion probably believes lol. Idk if they are wearing pride jerseys tomorrow so I'm glad she was subbed in just in case they don't wear them tomorrow.

      She’s clearly over it and has been over it. The fan base needs to get over it too and not insinuate or assume that a player who has long since apologized for mistakes made is in agony and hating every minute of wearing a pride jersey. It’s sad that this is overshadowing the accomplishments of the USWNT as a whole.

      @@lovemaira7509 I'm gonna assume you're not from the US and/or are not religious- her and her family's brand of religion does not "get over it". I guarantee they do not agree with it but have decided playing and her career overall is more important at this time.
      Her PR 'apology' was weak af and it was not that long ago- fans have a right to continue letting her know their thoughts/feelings when it was just a couple months ago. Yes this is a step in the right direction in that she wore the jersey, but I guarantee it's not because she really wanted to and has made a 180 and is over it.
      The fan base is doing exactly what they need to do to make sure the game remains inclusive and to remind everyone that bigotry, regardless of how it comes to light, will not be tolerated and hopefully it serves as a cautionary tale to everyone else to be careful online and elsewhere.
