I just turned 21 and was diagnosed with RRMS after an episode of similar symptoms six months ago. I think it was ADEM. I hope I can face this with half as much courage and positivity as Dalton. Hope he’s doing well and knows that his story is helping others like myself.

My brother was 18 years old when he was diagnosed…after many many years of getting sick and no doctor could figure out what was wrong with him … until one figured it out and it was to late .. he was one of the few that didn’t make it . I’m so proud of you for fighting so hard !!!! You are so blessed mom and dad ❤ prayers to you !!! -From a sister who misses her brother so much … !!! Stay strong ❤

Sorry for your loss.. may he rest in peace. Unfortunately the later the age the worse it is. Younger the children the higher the probability of recovery somewhat.

My son had adem. I knew something was wrong. I took him to the hospital 3 times before they took us seriously. I watch for 1 week decline. It's when he couldn't bare his own weight that they took us seriously. I was terrified. My heart goes out to you guys.

This is exactly what happened to us. The doctor didn't take me seriously and misdiagnosed me as meningitis. Then when I was about to die and semi-comatose my father got an ambulance emergency plane to fly me to another country through insurance. That's when they took it seriously and I recovered.

My son had this condition at 2 years of age, it was the most scary time of my life. He developed it after the MMR vaccine, is most common in male children.

My nephew acquired this when he was 6 years old and was unresponsive for a week and spent a month in the hospital, but recovered - This was one of the most awful chapters in my life -

I had ADEM when i was 6. Is ADEM a dangerous disease? The year was 2005. Doctors were saying there is nothing. One doctor was -thanks to him- diognised it, after 2 years. My parents gets emotional whenever i ask so i don't know much.

It is a dangerous disease some are left with problems after and some can die. Also, super rare, like 1 in 125,000 people a year.

I think I had adem. Could be another thing. Autoimmune. I saw a very old Dr at a very rural hospital. No MRI. But he saw my sed rate and expect brain and stuff. Did CT. Warned me that I could have brain damage but he was gunna stop the Inflammation and help me have a good recovery. My mom was awol. No dad. I was 16 I think. Possibly 18 at the oldest but I think 16... anyways. I don't remember what was happening I had head pain and blacked out a lot. My mom must have brought me in but she had to work. So she wasn't around when the radiology techs were in. But the Dr like talked to me about it but I was very confused I think I wasn't all there. He gave me "high doses of solumedrol" and stuff. I think I responded to that but he did mention other stuff they might try. I couldn't move my neck so I did physical therapy while in the hospital for that week. I went home with a month of steroids. And my Dr reported to cps, like 70% sure but idk. That's all probably destroyed by now. He was upset and he grilled me about my mom so I think he did.
    Anyways.
I think it mighta been adem.
My MRI shows changes in the left cerebral hemisphere And stuff. I can't really remember. I also.havs tbis. I'm going crazy too. white matter changes like areas that are lighter tiny foci probably not a big deal...who.kmows? Who cares lol?

I had ADEM at 6. I really feel for that family because that's how everyone was when I was sick. I did a full recovery, but I wonder if that terrible disease can ever come back again ?
