Great fight! Two of the BEST fighters I've had the pleasure of hosting at a tournament. The rest of the black belt competitors - pretty dam good too.

@rshelpfullstuff Karate is self defense, and it is sport, and exercize. This competion is an example of Karate as a contact sport. If you think losing in competition to Roy Porter is unpleasent, woe be to the man who forces Roy to defend his property, life, or family. The self defense side of Bushidokan Karate is blunt, effective and almost entirely illegal in the ring.

@HazzardFlame Jim Harrison taught Bushidokan as street fighters as in the fact that we're bad ass and not wimps!

One online bio for the fighter Roy defeats here, states
He "grew up in the Lee Summit area around martial arts. As a child he enjoyed watching his dad. He began Karate in 1979 and realized he loved all diciplines of martial arts.
As a pro he is ranked #1 in light weight point fighting in the NBL (National Black Belt Legue). As a fighter he is 14-2 in Kickboxing, 9-1 in shootfighting, 13-1 Mauy Thai."

@shaughnj Jim is one of the greatest Judges, coaches, and fighters to come out of the rough-and-tumble Karate of the 60's and 70's. His real-life approach to self defense, and the way he built the rest oh Bushidokan around it, really gives us an edge on the street, and the work ethic he laid out give us an edge in the ring.

@shaughnj Not yet. He moved to Montana in the late 70s, and I have not been fortunate enough to meet him yet. I have worked out breifly with Ronnie Chalane, and Steve Mackey. I have met Steve and Stacey Stillwell, Jim Hartley, and Steve Katzer. All of my training in Bushidokan, though, has been with Roy.

@shaughnj I stopped testing after I got my first orange tip. I'll start testing again someday soon though... my last test was in 2002.

@HazzardFlame that's fine. anyone taught by Jim Harrison or taught by someone else who's been taught by Jim Harrison is really good. and i bet your really good your self! what belt are you?

@HazzardFlame have you ever get taught by him or met him?

@VictusDwayne Yeah, and they counted that as a point for Ron... It seemed obvious to ME that Roy had blocked that shot... but oh well - every match has missed points and phantom points, it happens - and these things don't have instant replay like the NFL - officials just have to call what they see.
