Oh man, I can see so much potential in these engines, a set of nicely ported barrels with high compression heads, full circle crankshaft, PVL inner rotor ignition, Dual Mikuni SBN 44’s, V-force 4 reed valves, dual expansion chambers without water jacket, carbon silencers without waterbox….
@@CoyoteChris Thanks for the reply, I bought a 650 sx with a mariner head already installed, compression is 135/140. I am about to do a top end and hope to hit under 180 PSI.

@@CoyoteChris my 93 x2 is stock, so I’d buy the 76mm ones? I’m guessing the 1mm over and other ones is because someone honed out their cylinders, and now they need a bigger ring?

@@CoyoteChris okay 1211 it is! Thankyou for the quick responses. My motor currently has 150 compression in the rear and 141 in the front, I’m currently at the part where I need to spray some blaster to get the motor apart to check the rings to the pistons. I’m guessing the front piston rings are messed up which is giving me 141 in the front. The head gasket looked fine, so does the top of the piston. Anything else you can think of if it’s not the rings on that front one
@@FastFlash-dg2fc yeah it’s probably the rings it may have ran lean on that front cylinder. If you didn’t wanna do a full piston bore then get the cylinders honed and new rings. That is if everything looks good. No scoring or bad spots in the cylinders.
@@CoyoteChris so taking a look at my rings on the front piston it looked great, the cylinder looked great as well. I did notice the front crank shaft was darker than the rear one, but as I was moving them I didn’t hear a difference in the nose of either. I’m guessing it was just the gasket and then the head gasket.

Is okay to use a metal brush on the drill to clean up the engine, like where the gaskets are?
I noticed when I did it, it left surface scratches
No, the best way is to use a razor blade up right going side to side not trying to scape. You don’t want scratched or gouges on the surface.
Which Piston Ring brand do you like to use?
I prefer WSM 👍🏼

How did reusing your head gasket hold up ?
I used a new one when I put the last head on. I did the compression test with a used gasket.
how much did the compression change after you put the new head gasket on it?
Honestly I never put a new gasket on it, seemed too high for what I was building.
Is there anything cheaper than the 1211 engine gasket silicone?
I’ll be honest, I’d be afraid to try anything different I know 1211 is amazing and it works every time.
