Hora (Romanian Dance) - basic steps

Ansamblul Folcloric Doinita present the traditional folk dance step named HORA. Hora is the most famous step, being performed in all regions of Romania: Oltenia, Muntenia, Moldova, Transylvania. It was first mentioned in books around 1500 and it was danced for any events of great importance in the village life: wedding, baptising, Sunday village gatherings called “Sezatoarea”, together with the Christmas carols or for Easter. In our days, there is no Romanian wedding without hore. There is also one famous type of hora called “Hora Unirii “ which is danced each 24th of January for the historic moment of union between Valachia and Moldova.
