I am in US from a decade and my recommendation is please don’t carry any food items which can grow ( seeds /lentils especially like Jeera/mustard/rice/lentils/coconut ) as these are considered agriculture related and are strictly prohibited and you will be scrutinized at entry point and on every entry and exit from there during international travel ..In US you get everything as long as you are in east and west coast almost similar to India in terms of groceries !!All the best and safe journey !!
Thank you, somehow I noticed the comment late, I carried almost every such seeds, spices and also gone through customs and they checked thoroughly all bags in USA before exit.. there were no objections at all..

We cut it very fine and add rice flour , hing (asafoetida) , salt , coarse dhania powder . And mix with some water and make a thick batter and spread on hot tawa and drizzle oil and fry like chillas to eat with rice .
