It says it's a 48 volt inverter all over it so I would say it's a 48 volt inverter.

Just purchased the 24v version of the 3kw inverter. Ran a mild test of 1800 watts without a single issue. So glad I've watched so many of your videos before I made a purchase.

Same thing happened to me. I ordered a 12 v 600w inverter and they sent me a 24v 800w. I didn't bother returning it. Just use it in a portable bank. I've actually been loving it.

I just tested the same inverter but it is 24V DC 120 AC 60hz with two NEW truck battery's (31-1125S) I ran a 1500 Watt heater and a 1500Watt paint stripping gun for ten minutes the cheap clamp meter said 116.5 amp X 22 Volts sagged through the cables that came with the unit read on the front of the inverter and 109 AC Volt out on the inverter. The fans came on in 4 minutes at the first of the test and ran for another 2 minutes after I shut the two heater load off. I left the inverter on so the fans could come on later to finish cool the internals. So with the voltage sag that would be a 2563 Watt test no flickering red light. Ruffly what a V8 starter would draw, The battery's started at 25.2 Volts and finished at 24.7 :)

With the _little_ and _big_ fets:
Actually, from an electronics point of view it is more efficient to use more smaller fets in parallel than fewer bigger ones. That is because any mos-fet transistor has it's own D-S resistance. It can be fractions of an ohm for the higher voltage ones to less than one thousand of an ohm (0.001ohm) for low voltage ones. Now, the lower the D-S resistance, the lower the voltage drop across it and therefor the lower the power dissipated and lost on that fet. More fets in parallel means the total D-S resistance will be lower.
And you can get so low resistances that the copper traces and leads begin to count towards parasitic resistance :D
And the smaller TO220 fets have about the same lead current capabilities as the big TO247 ones so more smaller fets gets the lead current limit higher.
The bigger ones have better high voltage handling and better power dissipation. They are good when you use them in their ohmic region like linear amplifiers, linear current regulations.
And yes... it says on it 48v...
But... again, if the first stage mosfets and the filtering caps and the control circuit can take more voltage without tripping an input OVC protection, the inverter will run more efficient as more voltage at the input requires less amperes for the same input/output power.
It actually should run cooler and longer... if well designed and manufactured... and few are...

surprised it did not go pop when it was on 60v battery (was unsure of what was up with it until stated it as 60v when its setup for 48v), the inverter was marked for 48V and the transformer had 48v on the inside as well so one would assume it's a 48V inverter in the incorrect box (it should really have overvoltage protection as it has under voltage) not sure why they stated on where ever you got it from that it had a wide voltage range 48v-68v

LOL I was looking to see if anyone would make this comment! I noticed right away as soon as he took cover off. It had 48V right on one of the transformers. Yes, I give that inverter credit for not letting the smoke out @ 60+ Volts!

On your 3000W inverter appears to have...
    ...
    You have a - 4 pairs - 2x mos-fet-s IRFP4668 - 9.7m ohm - maiby from Infineon. This is a 130A at 25 deg celsius and 92A continous at 100deg celsius, with 520A pulse.
With 4 pairs, and 4 transformers ( you have 4 sets that can handel around 368A for a short time ) - and a very small impulse of 2.000A ... !!!
You will never reach this... Will blow many other component in the way....
368A on 48V = 17.600W - 17KW. as an impulse. You can start any applyance. The limits are the transformers, wires, and many others....
    ...
IN REALITY = on maximum 3.000W you will have 17A per pair, on 4 pairs = 68 A in a 48V sistem . This inverter will run almoust non stop.
    ...................................................................................................................................................................................................
Let`s go to your new 8.000W. here you have F59N30 - 56m ohm - 59A at 25deg celsius and 35A continous at 100deg celsius and 230A pulse ( disipate 5 times more heat in running regards to - IRFP4668 )
When you run a 8.000 W model it will be hotter than 3.000 W modell. There are people who observe that. At same current ratings almost 5 times hotter the tranzistors...
    ...
    in this 8.000W model you have 9 pairs. 9pairs x 35A = 315 Amps max continous --- ATTENTION !!! smaller maximum current than 3000W modell !!!
    Maximum pulse can be 230A x 9 pairs = 2070Amps , the same as 3000W modell....
    ...
IN REALITY = 8000W ... WILL HAVE TOTAL -181Amps - IN 9 PAIR = 20Amps - PER PAIR OF TRANZISTORS and transformer ... ( equal with your fuses2x10A, probably something bad calculations, or a scam )
    ...
YOU MUST CHANGE THE TRANZISTOR, PUT THE ORIGINAL THAT ARE IN 3000W MODELL - IRFP4668...
Of course, if there are damage in control board must be repaired.
The fuse 2x10A must be bigger, migt be used 2 x 15A. fuse

Hi friend. I like how you put screwdriver on your battery contacts...i was just thinking ...hmm will we see some explosion or not ... :) It is really dangerous to put anything on those bare wires (pipes in your case :) ) . I like also your hacked watmeter...and cables all over ..This is not safe. I'm saying it just to warn you you could get hurt. please be careful with that stuff. You have too many batteries so you should be really careful. But that is how i see it. Feel free to ignore me if you like :). Anyway nice video.

just hooked up the reliable 3000 watt 48 vdc inverter.. I grounded the unit to an earth ground and the tester I used indicated an open ground when inserted into the inverter's plugs.. anyone else having this problem.

    • @GoingOffGrid101
      @GoingOffGrid101  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

its because the neutral and the ground are not bound inside the inverter, make sure to test if the ground is live on this inverter, 50% have a live ground and can not have the neutral and the ground bonded or the unit will short out, hope this helps you if so please give the video a like!

    • @GoingOffGrid101
      @GoingOffGrid101  4 ปีที่แล้ว

you can chance the black to yellow/ neutral/ground. or you can make a little extension cord and and on just the female side bond the ground to the neutral, but make sure not to bond the ground between the male and female sides, there are videos on how to make these.

Hi, for the 60V inverter, did you have to have them custom set it for you? I couldn't really find any inverter they listed for 60V? Also what's the cut off voltage set for the 60V version? I'm trying to find a 2000-3000w inverter that can handle up to 64-65volts and cut off at about 56-57volts. Running 16s Chevy Volt. :)

I have one of these and the mosfets blew. Fuses are totally useless. 3000w is a stretch. Transformers are too small. I found bits of solder between the legs of the Fets, so manufacture is sloppy. Ordered some replacement mosfets, and the person a Reliable sent test instructions with a link to a video of a chinese guy, testing and replacing blown transistors. His unit still wasnt working and the video cuts off with him hitting the back of the board with pliers. So there you go American Imperialist suckers. Another blow for global communism!

I hope someone here can help me. There is a strange voltage/bee sound out of the front of the inverter... Is this normal? Thanks in advance

i have a lot of these inverters now, they have changed the input mosfets from 2 large mosfets per transformer to 4 smaller mosfets per transformer. and have added a current sensor. and smaller tweaks here and there. if you stay under the 4000w mark these are nice inverters as long as your not trying to start a large electric motor.

Tnx ! As you did, I'm learning with 3 small systems presently. If I were to throw more $'s at it, I'd look closer at the Outback models, and of course, lion cells with the BSM units for best practices. At least I'll have PWM controllers for backup. Good advice is very welcome ! I'll most likely get a pair, or 4 of these... www.boviet.com/u/20170629152537555.pdf @ ca $150ea

I have blown one 8000w inverter running it at max power after 1 year and the company sent me a new output board and fixed it. these are cheaper inverter so they are not as bullet proof as higher end inverters also I would say these are better in conditions where your not using them 24/7 more like turn it on when you need it, its like a champion generator VS a Honda.
