hi! thanks for sharing. Did your dog undergo surgery?

Our dog Loki had the surgery, recovered after a month or so. That was October, by Christmas, he was listless and not very responsive. The vet said it was cancer, we had to put him down. He was only 6. That's why we opted for the surgery, we figured he had about 6 more years left. Poor Loki, miss you bud.

I just have to say how wonderful it is to watch you with Tidus, your positive attitude, and gentle loving encouragement are as much key to his healing as his new braces. It was nice to see his first day of recovery using his new braces. Such good results! From that time to now is like night and day. The recovery and transformation is amazing. You have to know this would not have been possible for him without all the time, research and love that you all put into it. Continued healing wishes being sent. Sweet Tidus is a trooper! Love to you all, an amazing pack!

Thank you for these videos! We just decided today at the Vet not to do the TPOL surgery. Instead the nurse suggested this brace. We ordered the kit today for our 6 year old Australian Shepherd, Kali. I am thankful for this alternative. Your 3 dogs are amazing! Tidus is precious! Again Thank you!

I bought a Posh brace and very happy with her recovery. Very similar to the brace you have. Don’t be surprised if your vet wants only surgery. I had a vet who wouldn’t treat her without the surgery. We’ve dine Adequan shots, acupuncture and pain meds. In 9 months completely healed.

We tried meds for 2 weeks, it was somewhat helpful but without meds she's limping more. I gave vet appt next week. I'm frustrated but doing my research. The problem with brace for us would be that she won't let put it on...

maybe you can help my so I got the tplo on my dog and the recovery is going okay but the problem is I live in a town house with stairs. and he under no circumstances will go inside or even the patio. he is 90lbs and I can't carry him up is it a good Idea to let mom climb the stairs

    • @esolverleisetatze5897
      @esolverleisetatze5897 ปีที่แล้ว

@@JohnLee-kr3fb Tplo needs more time to heal I think. I helped my dog same weight as yours. Upwards I help him lifting his weight on the hindlegs by reaching under his belly with one arm and holding him an the collar so he go step by step. If you step the stairs parallel it´s a little easier and with the healthy hintleg to the stairs they use it first. Down I go in front of him and backwards the first days until he learnt what he should do, one hand in the collar for regulation, here we go frontlegs down, waiting for the hindlegs (they normally use them both the same time and only step on the good leg), then you take the next step. The hardest part was the slow training when we startet by three walks for 5 min and slowly increase 5 min pro walk a week, many time for creativity :D I hope it helps you a little bit and I wish you and your dog that she heal fast and you can enjoy your walks again :)

I’ve been watching Titus’ recovery. I’m so happy this worked for him. My 187lb male Rottweiler is scheduled for surgery on his back left leg next week for a torn CCL. I have researched and watched many videos trying to decide what’s best for him. I am worried about everything, especially the other leg. I almost ordered the braces and still might. The main thing that pushed me to choose surgery is that it’s reported that this injury does not “heal” without surgery. Further research said the injury builds up scar tissue and that scarring allows the dog to appear healed, using it as normal. Opinions are strong on both sides…surgery vs braces and therapy. I hope I’ve chosen right for my dog and I wish the best continued success with yours. ♥️

Why the other leg ends up tearing is CCL tears are caused by a degenerative process of the CCL ligament. Thus, the disease is often bilateral. It has nothing to do if surgery is chosen.

This happened to my rottweiler before she was even two years old. I tried to let it heal for 2 months, but she was still favoring it somewhat. Being such a young dog, I opted for the TPLO surgery for $10,000.00 (that's not a typo). It's a very hard 12 week recovery, with only short walks in the yard, and no stairs or running, taking her out with a sling down a ramp I built. We mostly kept her isolated to one room which was really hard. Well, it did payoff in the end, as she can now run normally on the leg. You cannot tell anything was ever wrong. Unfortunately, all the vets have told me she will almost definitely need surgery on the other leg as well at some point. Thankfully, I can afford it, and it does work amazingly. Good luck to all who have this happen to their beloved dog!

@@huskysquad i guess she just means how relaxed tidus is when you put the brace on. I think its because hes worn the brace before because he had the old one. My girls got an ACL injury🐶
She has braces that aren't as fancy as the ones you have for Tidus, they look more like chaps on her, and are geared to support both legs too.
My girl is like my child, it's so hard seeing her in pain, and she's getting older, so the stress of anesthetic in surgery may not be the best option.
We have her on anti-inflammatory drugs from the vets as well as natural supplements. Now it's the waiting game and trying to keep her from having "silly moments" where she'll try to run or spin.. 😖 She does do some light walking but it's certainly monitored.
Thank you for sharing your experience with others like myself.. I wish you all the best health with your fur babies. It warms my heart to see someone care so much about their dogs and give them every chance. 💖

Did Titus have a full break of his ACL (cranial cruciate ligament)? My 6 year old male golden retriever has a complete break if his ACL. He weighs 87 pounds. He injured himself a little over 2 weeks ago when he was running across the yard - I assume the ligament was frayed before that as he wasn’t running full out. The vet said the ligament was completely snapped so there isn’t anything left to support the knee. Surgery seems to be the only option so we have been referred to an orthopedic surgeon. Please let me know as these results are very encouraging.

This caused a bone infection that required treatment with chloramphenicol. The chloramphenicol then caused bone marrow and vitamin b deficiency which created neurological problems (encephalitis). A year later we have a dog with massive balance issues, weakness, severely altered personality, a malformed TPLO leg, severe intestinal problems and no solution to the infection. We are now stuck with trying injectable antibiotics which can cause kidney failure or leg amputation.
Every single night we wish we went with a simple knee brace instead of the "safe" TPLO surgery.

Please do not beat your self up. I am so sorry this happened to you and your fur baby ❤ I so know how you feel, even though Dollie is gone now I still feel guilty I put her through all of that. The surgeons tell you are these things are rare and push for surgery. My Dollie had a front shoulder surgery done at 6yrs of age. She never recovery from it completely, difficultly walking, pain and eventually got arthritis. Now I am face with an under 2yr old Border Collie with a ACL tear, mild. But there again surgery is recommended. I am now looking for a brace. I cannot do that to another BC, all the pain, recovery and probably the other leg will go.

Your story is inspiring - I have an active dog that has torn his ACL I am wondering what level you felt that Tidus regained strength and maneuverability. You say in some of your videos that he was hiking with you again. I have to ask if he was a runner or very hard on his body or joints to begin with? Our dog is incredibly active and intense, having Huskies Im sure you can understand that, although your kiddos seem very chill! We are really leaning toward bracing since he is 9 years old and we are conservative when it comes to surgery. I studied natural medicine and herbalism and feel this would be my choice personally, I know our vet has said there are not many success cases in larger active dogs and you are one of the only ones that I can find. Thanks so much for sharing your journey I hope to chat with you and follow up on some of my questions, thanks for your time.

Congratulations to Tidus for his amazing recovery! I have been thinking about a non surgical option for our dog. Our dog Laverne who thinks she is still a puppy injured her ACL 3 days ago. She is 12 years old and weighs 75 lbs. Her tear is complete and Vet says hat she needs surgery with a specialist or a brace with he said wont give as good results. Thankfully we do have pet health insurance for our pets so cost is not as much of a problem. But I am terrified to put her through surgery at her age...She is healthy overall but I am still very afraid. We will have a surgical consult in May but I am still hopeful to find another way to help her live her life as best as she can and deserves. I am hoping to make the right choice

For an older dog I would recommend physiotherapy or chiropractic. TPLO is such an invasive procedure where your furry friend could be induced for an hour or upwards. Working in the veterinarian field I feel like a more holistic way of treatment would be better for older dogs to allow for some muscle growth to strengthen the leg If there is muscle atrophy happening (which there usually are). Personally I wouldn’t go through with the tplo if it’s a dog that is 12 years old, imagine a 84 y/o getting a ACL reconstruction … it would be a very hard and long recovery. Hope your furry friend is happy and healthy 🙂

My 13 y/o Lab completely tore her CCL in late January. She had TPLO surgery in March. They also removed her severely damaged meniscus. I immediately noticed an unusual jutting-out (abduction) of the pelvic limb. The surgeon recommended an additional Extracapsular Lateral Suture Stabilization (ELSS) surgery in April. Her condition continued to decline. I pleaded for a referral to the veterinary university for assessment. She went in May and they found infection around the TPLO plate and screws, infection from the ELSS site, and pivot shift phemonenon. All hardware was removed so we're worse off than before the TPLO surgery. We're currently awaiting a custom orthotic brace in the hope that it will give her support and relief. I wish I'd gone straight for the brace vs. surgery as it's been four months of pain and more than $10,000 with zero results.

Hey you guys, so far, this is very encouraging. It’s the first video of yours that I’ve watched so far, and I look forward to watching the rest. My beautiful sweet boy chArles has recently lost the proper use of his legs. At first, the vet thought it was his hips, then a second opinion and a radiologist recommendation sites his knees as the problem. He can basically not walk now, and I hear a dull clicking in his legs when he moves. I don’t know what to do. He’s young still, and he’s so sweet, just like Titus. He just doesn’t know what happened. The vets recommend surgery, but I don’t have insurance. And I’m worried That it still
Won’t make make him better. I didn’t get the assurance I was hoping for that if we did the TPLO, it would fix him. Anyway. I’ll keep watching. I’m in Fairfield county CT USA. Please let me know if you think or know of anyone around here to help. Thank you!

Vet showed me how his kneecap was moving different that his other leg. And my old man is 10 and going blind. I wanted something to fix him fast. He is scheduled for Nov 10. Costing me $2.8k . With the help of friends and families I’ve raised $800 in donations. The rest I’m paying with care credit. I remember my shihtzu mix (19 pound) has never liked us touching his back legs. We think he has always have discomfort but we took it as he just didn’t like us touching his legs. I adopted him from shelter when he was 5 and was told he was abused from the personality evaluation they gave him. I can’t stand hearing him cry in pain. Our vet was going to charge $5000 for the first ACL surgery and they were already warning us that our dog would probably need the other leg operated on. So potentially $10,000 in surgery fees verses the $400 MuttKnee Brace and $75 in natural supplements like arnica, tumeric, MSM etc (all of these treatments including the brace we continue for life). Even if we spent $200 a year in supplements we are saving massive amounts of money not to mention saving our pet at least 1 serious surgery and a long, painful recovery. Our little Maltipoo is totally back to normal after injuring her ACL and 2 months of a brace and supplements.

I saw several veterinaries who told me that the only solution is TPLO which i don't really like.
You are saying that Tidus healed with a brace and some additional external care, so i have some questions: Did Tidus had a cruciate ligament completely broken or only distended ? If the ligament is broken it cannot repair by itself , and i don't see how he can walk normally without a ligament ? Thank you in advance for your answer.

Also, I'm studying Marketing and would love to know a bit more about how you guys started and came up with the idea of creating a youtube channel and how you are doing in general in your professional life (if you guys are comfortable talking about it, of course).
Don't forget to mention how you guys met each other and started dating!! So curious about that! 🥰😘😇

    Hello
Are these braces permeant for Titus or just till his body builds scar tissue healing it self.
    Thank you!!

He’s no longer wearing them and he’s fully recovered by now. Here are all the details on the blog: huskysquad.blog/acl-recovery-no-surgery

Husky Squad And first off I wanna start off by saying thank you very much for getting back to me I can’t tell you how much that means to me!!!
I am going to do the brace the custom fit one I was at the vet today actually about four hours ago and they’re insisting on the surgery telling me that it’s torn and I’m telling them that this dog will pull me down the street and when she sees a squirrel she runs like a bat out of hell they’re telling me it’s the adrenaline which to some extent is true but I don’t fully believe that it’s fully torn I think it’s more like a sprain and can heal on its own in time.
How long did he have to wear the braces before he got back to normal.
      Thank you so much
