So encouraging to see the improvements being made to this land. The health of this property will increase the health and strength of properties all around this one!
Thanks for the video! I haven’t broke a poly braid either but I had animals who chew right through it. When I was setting up my perimeter fence, it took me a few days so I came back the next day and a squirrel or something small chewed on it. The area sort of looked like yours but it was a little thicker and wider.
Greg , just for the sake of me arguing with people on Twitter, if you had 100 acres of feed corn or 100 acres of your best regen pasture, which would yield more cattle feed? Even if there was more feed with the corn, it still wouldn’t be worth it in my eyes, but l still wonder about acre vs. acre. Thank you for all you do restoring the planet! 🌎
Really good land, rain, and circumstances, you can grow 200 bushels of hospital bills and misery. When considering the economy of feeding them grain, to be accurate, you have to add in the health effects. Also quite often, you lose money on corn.
Greg, you started out with Katahdin the switched to St Croix. Many others favor Dorper ewes crossed with Katahdin or Australian white. Why St Croix? And do you cross bred any?
Would you ever recommend doing woven sheep fence(4”x4”) for perimeter or better yet horse (2”x4” woven) fence for sheep? I have about 15 acres that needs perimeter fence
We don’t get paid welfare subsidies from the government like grain farmers do. Take the government crop subsidies away and we can absolutely compete for land rental rates.
It's a function of materials. "Per foot" is probably a best way to calculate fencing costs. HT electric wire is the low-cost/high-performance winner and the ONLY sort of fence I'd put up. Have one "underway" now (still gathering materials).
In a year or two, you will have some healthy mountain lions with all the fat deer and turkeys and other wildlife. I doubt they would mess with the cows in a mob that moves 2-3x per day.

We love poly braid!
Very exciting! Congratulations!

Showing folks the good things you do brings more people on board. Way to go. However I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the toxic gmo corn and beans
Enjoy your videos! Do you use any software to plan your grazing rotations or tools to measure pasture cover?
Good question

Greg it seems like you have doubled your grazing ground. What acreage are you up to now?
He had about 1600 total (owned/leased). I'll bet he's pushing 2k now.
😊
Is it okay to use concrete for wood posts if I’m doing it myself?
Yes
Howdy! Can you pay a land owner the same as what a grain farmer would pay? Thank you!

@@gregjudyregenerativerancher Thank you for that response! I enjoy your videos.
Were those bear claw marks on those trees?
Probably Johnnys skid steer!!
Whats the max post distance youd use?
On flat ground, about 20 feet for perimeter fence.
What does that type of land sell for in your area?
7-10,000 an acre or so.
So how much can you expect to make on a 200 acre farm like that? Would be nice to learn more about the finances.
How does it cost to fence that much acreage?

Second for the first time

First again!
