There was nobody in rock that could convey love and loss as convincingly as Phil Lynott. And Gary Moore on guitar was untouchable. Two of my absolute rock heroes. Please do more Thin Lizzy, especially the Live and Dangerous album. And please do Gary Moore "Parisienne Walkways"
You absolutely need need need to listen to the live version from “Live & Dangerous” or “Live at the Rainbow”. Brian Robertson’s solo elevates it to utter perfection. It’s the definitive version of this song.
This is one of those songs which is soooo much better live. You should listen to the version on their Live and Dangerous album. It’s so much more emotional.
LOVES ME SOME THIN LIZZY!! RIP, PHIL LYNOTT!!! YOU are MISSED! OH, MY: Gary Moore on guitar & Phil Lynott's bass work - what a GREAT COMBO!!! THANKS, JAY & AMBER!! :) HUGS!
Next do "Emerald", an irish folksong, a-la Thin Lizzy of course. Another great one is their cover of Bob Seger's "Rosalie". Theres a great live version
One of my all time favourite bands. Not gonna list my looooong list of essential listening, coz I’ve already done that. Just to say, keep covering them, as and when, and you’ll keep giving me a lift on those days you do.
1976 at Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin.......packed house. What a time to be young and hear so much unbelievable music all the time. Didn't know how good it was at the time......we just lived it.
This is my favourite Thin Lizzy song, there is absolutely no way to keep from falling in love with Phil during this track, the ache in his intensely beautiful voice is palpable, and Gary's guitar is incredible. Yes, the live version is awesome. Also, Romeo & the Lonely Girl! Oof ❤
I have been telling them to listen to the Live and Dangerous album on all of these songs for quite a while, but they never do. That album blows away their studio versions.
Even though Phil was born in England, Born 20 August 1949[2] West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England Origin Dublin, Ireland Died 4 January 1986 (aged 36) Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. Lynott first attended school in Moss Side, Manchester. In 1957, due to accounts of racism and Lynott being mixed race, his mother sent him to live with his grandparents, Frank and Sarah Lynott, in Crumlin, Dublin.
Great song...the Live And Dangerous live album version is much better. In fact, the whole album is awesome. If you do full albums, it should be at the top of the list.
Yes the live version of this, from the Live and Dangerous album, is the best known version and the only slow song they played in concert. They did have a lot of blues material especially early on when they were a trio and unknown in the US. The second vocalist on this track was Frankie Miller, and the lead guitar was the late great Gary Moore who later was the second guitarist on the Black Rose album. This was one of my top five favorite bands of all time and I've collected all the recordings from their initial 3 DECCA albums down to the end. My biggest recommendations besides the live version of this song is Bad Reputation and Don't Believe a Word. Besides the awesome guitar and drums, Brian Downey shines on drums. My all-time favorite drummer. I was privileged to see these guys in my hometown on their Live and Dangerous tour in '78.
Agree with others, Live and Dangerous is where it is at with this band, like Strangers in the Night is for UFO. Do the the live version and Rock On! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶🔥
G’day mate & matette,,, just subscribed, sitting in the sun 8.30am Friday morn trying to figure out this techno journey. Great reactions to many, many great bands & songs. I saw Thin Lizzy at 16yrs old at the Sydney Opera House steps & they changed my life. They were adsobloodylutly incredible. A must listen on the Jailbreak album are “Warriors” & “Emerald”. All I’ll say is”GUITAR, GUITAR, GUITAR” Do your ears an brain a bloody good favour they will be buzz’n Good work, keep it up!
Have you ever noticed that the most charismatic singers and are the ones that leave us early - Phil Lynott, Jimi, Lennon (the most charismatic Beatle), Ian Dury, Janis, Michael Hutchence, Elvis, Amy Whitehouse, and so it goes on.
Lennon may have been a "musical genius"but he was an awful human being, he treated people including his own son so badly, Paul McCartney was a far better father than Lennon, yes the reality outstrips the myth, Unfortunately.
The other singer here is the great Scottish soul singer, #FrankieMiller, whom Rod Stewart called "the only white singer that could make me cry". Here are a few of my Frankie Miller tracks: Brickyard Blues This Love of Mine With You in Mind Be Good to Yourself Ain't Got No Money A Fool in Love I'm Old Enough If I Can Love Somebody Jealous Guy This Love of Mine Enjoy- Dave Rudbarg

Hi guys, Thin Lizzy who were support act to Slade who hasn’t been featured yet. Huge influence to Kiss and Oasis, Run Run Away was their biggest usa hit
I could have sworn they reacted to Run Runaway. I can't find it. They could have taken it down or I could just be wrong. But yes, that is definitely a rabbit hole they need to dive into!
@gypsyroadhog I'll give it a shot. They have reacted to two of my requests by emailing it to them. In fact, after reacting to the song, Amber replied to my email and thanked me and said that was a great song (by Bread). Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky again.
Phil Lynott was not just the singer, but also the (great) bassist, lest we forget 🙂 If you miss the HEAVY ROCK Thin Lizzy, some gems I think you've yet to hear include "Cold sweat", "Emerald", "Massacre", "Bad reputation", "Thunder and lightning", "Angel of death", "Boogie woogie dance", "Are you ready", "That woman's gonna break your heart", "Hollywood", "This is the one", "Killer on the loose", "Chinatown" and "It's getting dangerous". Phil Lynott also guests on Gary Moore's (the guitarist on "Still in love with you") big solo hit "Out in the fields", a hard rocking track as well. (Most people remember Gary as a blues player, but many of us still remember him most fondly as a stellar hard rock artist in the 80s. One of his biggest hits from this era, "Over the hills and far away", was later also covered by none other than Nightwish.) On a more mellow note, I'd recommend Phil's melancholy, pensive solo lament over Elvis Presley, "King's call", with Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) on guitar.
Haha - while in high school in 74-76 there was nothing better than getting dumped so that you could listen to this song endlessly while crying inconsolably. That's how good it was!
I love Thin Lizzy, but I would recommend reacting to their live versions of their songs, because Lizzy was one of those bands that was better live. This song off of the Life Live album is wonderful, I believe Gary Moore played the lead guitar on that version, and Phil Lynott's voice was exceptional.
The music of Thin Lizzy presents a powerful blend of hard rock, blues, and Celtic influences that define their distinctive sound. Their catalogue showcases both lyrical depth and musical versatility. Phil Lynott's charismatic vocals and poetic lyrics, paired with twin guitar harmonies, create a timeless appeal that resonates with all music enthusiasts across generations.
You maybe should consider doing a day each week of reactions to live performances & perhaps revisiting some songs that you have done before & compare the live & studio versions, can't help thinking you are missing a trick by just playing & reacting to studio recordings & this song is definitely one that should have been reviewed live
Best most versatile band ever. This is the 1974 version with scottish hellraiser Frankie Miller doing a duet with Phil Lynott. Also Gary Moore on guitar on this one.
I bought all their albums at the time. Saw them live at The Cow Palace in S.F. with the Cars opening up and Kansas closing. Talking about a bang for your buck.
This album was so smoooth . Theres another song off this record called Showdown that the Beastie Boys sampled for their song called Funky Boss . Showdown and johnny the fox meets jimmy the weed are peak think lizzy smooth funk Also , Sade has good cover of still in love with you
From the same era, an even more charismatic singer (but totally different) who you haven't reacted to yet - Ian Dury and his group The Block Heads. Massive breakthrough in the late seventies - Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick, Reasons To Be Cheerful, Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll, Sweet Gene Vincent. He was handicapped from childhood polio but took that disability
Compared to the unbelievable live version this sounds like a demo, as good as it is. Here: 1st solo by Scott Gorham, 2nd by Gary Moore, who is also the 2nd voice you hear. But I really hope you do the live version one day, the song and performance got mature by then. Listening to it for decades and I'm still in love with it 😊 Sending ❤ from Germany
You guys have to do 'Old Town' by Phil Lynott. I think it might have been too much of a pop song to include on a Lizzy record but its a classic Phil Lynott tune with a great video shot in Dublin.
HI Rob Squad. great choice of Thin Lizzy song, you should react to Phil Lynott's solo song Old Town, you should also try the band ultravox and their haunting classic Vienna.
You should really hear this from their Live and Dangerous album, which to me is one of the top three live albums of all time (the others are Rolling Stones Get Yer Ya Ya’s Out, and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s One MoreFrom the Road).
You need to watch Gary Moore perform Parisienne Walkways or The Messiah Will Come live at Montreux. One of our guitar greats! I suggest then watching now 15 yr old guitar player and singer Taj Farrant. Taj is going to be one of the greats. His favorite performer is Gary Moore and Taj plays Parisienne Walkways at his shows. I suggest his recent show at The City Winery or him performing SRV'S version of The Sky is Crying in Tulsa. He will performing in Oklahoma again soon. I also suggest his version of Little Wing. They recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of Prince's rekease of Purple Rain. Taj was the special guest performer. He opened for Morris Day and for Prince's band NPG. Taj played Purple Rain, including the solo with NPG. I think his standout was a deep cut of The Ride that he was asked to perform. You don't have to react to Taj but you can go back to when he started playing guitar at 7 and look where he is 8 years later. A lesson of perseverance and practice, practice, practice!!!
Yeah just great 👍, alongside Phil singing is Frankie Miller, another top vocalist from Scotland. I’m lucky to have seen them twice, in the 70s at the Colston Hall in Bristol. 1976 with Brian Robinson, Scott Gorham both on lead guitars. And in 78 with Gary Moore, just a total knockout both times.
I believe he wrote this song after or during Phil and his wife divorced so you can really feel his raw emotions through the lyrics and the playing of this song it's really a great song and if one goes further, a ballad to his wife hits hard
@@79BlackRose You're absolutely right--they met in the late '70s and married in '80. For some reason, I had thought that they married years earlier, but I was wrong. Still, in terms of the original comment to which I was replying, this song could not have possibly been about their marriage and divorce, because when it was written, they had not even met! 🙂 I appreciate the correction!
That was the great Gary Moore on guitar. May he rest in peace. One of the greatest guitarists of all time
Every time I hear this song it gives me chills it is so brilliant. Vocals, guitar and the way it end is awesome! Miss you Philip....
Great choice. Lizzy's entire catalog has aged like fine wine. So versatile.
Just reminds me how great Gary Moore was and Phils voice was amazing ❤
Every single person that knows Thin Lizzy will point you towards the live version of this track. It’s heart stopping.
Guitar solo by the great Gary Moore.
preferred the live version which didn't involve GM better solo
Sounded so much like Peter Green and that is a massive compliment (I know they really loved each other's playing)
Listen to the live version on the Live And Dangerous album. It blows this out of the water
Another great Thin Lizzy track is "Don't Believe A Word".
They would love it.
Thin Lizzy is a CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED Band.
The live version of still in love with you is much better.
Yes it is!!
Right on!
I agree. The live version sounds like a different song really. It is SO good. I hope they will react to that one.
True.
Yes much better!
You absolutely need need need to listen to the live version from “Live & Dangerous” or “Live at the Rainbow”. Brian Robertson’s solo elevates it to utter perfection. It’s the definitive version of this song.
R.I.P. Phil and Gary
This is one of those songs which is soooo much better live. You should listen to the version on their Live and Dangerous album. It’s so much more emotional.

Romeo and the Lonely Girl,
Emerald,
The Cowboy Song,
The Sun Goes Down.
Just a few great songs by Thin Lizzy
Phil is joined by cult Scottish blues singer Frankie Miller for the vocals on this track. Frankie is worth checking out too (RIP)
This song is one I used to get my R&B friends into Rock. This song isn't that much of a leap to go from the Isley Brothers to Thin Lizzy.
"Don't Believe A Word" has a great contrast between it's up-tempo and slower versions.

Yes, the live version is awesome.
Also, Romeo & the Lonely Girl! Oof ❤
The live version from their Live and Dangerous album is THE definitive version of this song (so is their "Cowboy Song").
The live version from "Life" live 1983 featuring John Sykes is up there as well.
Just back from the funeral of my friend Colin Thomson. Lizzy were his favourite band. RIP.
Very sorry for your loss.
Live version from Live and Dangerous is so much better 👍
Possibly one of the most underrated live albums of all time
That whole album Kicks Ass.
I have been telling them to listen to the Live and Dangerous album on all of these songs for quite a while, but they never do. That album blows away their studio versions.
The Cowboy Song on that live album is just killer!
They really brought out the sadness in the song with that version. It's so mournful and haunting, I just love how much feeling they poured into it.
Wild one, and for those who love to live.... two of my favorite lizzy songs
Gary Moore is on guitar. Legend!
If your digging this song you'll want to hear "She Knows". One of my favorite songs by Thin Lizzy.
The best Irish band❤❤
You've forgotten about The Nolans.

Awesome reaction! The great Gary Moore on guitar and also doing some of the vocals.
The other obvious one to go along with this, is, 'Parisienne Walkways.'

I was shocked when I heard Sade covering this song, and she did a great job!
Love Thin Lizzy. The live version from 1978 Live And Dangerous is even better. My third all time favourite band. ❤❤❤❤👍👍🤘🤘
Phil's voice is amazing on this but everybody should hear Mr. Frankie Miller doing it with the Lizzy boys on backing, it goes straight to the heart.
