Guy, Los Angeles is TONGVALAND. It will and always will be indigenous land. Just because "Filipinos" were used as tools for the Spanish and American Empire don't mean we're colonizers. LOS ANGELES IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE TONGVALAND. I am but a visitor-settler here.

Indians were the first settlers in california. Then came spanish conquistadores together with catholic missionaries in the early 1492 until 1600. Later on gold miners and cattle ranchers came. And thats how the west was won. They hired chinese railway workers and most chinese are gunsmith and canon makers. The famous filipino chinese canon maker is panday pira. Some chinese catholic were baptized with spanish name also.

✅ are there available sources that ancient Filipinos traded or mingled with the ancient Babylonians and with the Roman Empire?
✅ Are there sources where we we traded/ mingled with Ancient Egyptians?
    * * I'm just curious because I've just watched the Golden Parade of Ancient Mummies in Egypt last Sunday. It was a huge and magnificent spectacle where Egyptians are so proud of their own identity, heritage and culture.

That plaque in Morro Bay is misleading, it makes it look like Filipinos sailed on a filipino ship. It’s a technicality that Filipinos landed in California that early. The viceroyalty of New Spain (Mexico) conquered the Philippines and they were ruled from Mexico City and Madrid.

Should we consider October 1587 the first Filipino foray into California? Could you please talk about the settling of Morro Bay along with the intermarriage between the Chumash and Filipinos? Also, do the Manilamen of Saint Malo Parish in Louisiana predate the Los Angeles Filipino groups who might have broken off with Spanish Galleon routes through Acapulco? Thanks Kirby.

Although history taught is better than no history taught or "his-story" being taught.
Nevertheless, A Black (Haitian) man was the founder of Chicago, Illinois. Mexicans, Spaniards, and Filipinos founded Los Angeles, California? I cringe every time I hear non-natives, of what is known as the Americas, discovered a place that was already occupied by others. This is how colonists see the world. It was not discovered until someone not from "here", (where ever in the world "here" is) claims they discovered it. There were people here. How can you discover a place where people already live? It is a ridiculous concept, but with a darker purpose.
Christopher Columbus, a thieving, murderous, raping tyrant, and seen as a failure by his own countrymen, is today seen as a hero to the White world because they feel a need to show that they discovered the Americas, that Columbus never really reached. Lies upon lies to claim their dominance over whoever lived in those lands before they colonized it.
Let's celebrate our true history by knowing and understanding it. If not for all of the people you find in America today, (including Filipinos), America may not be what it is today. We all must bear the pain, suffering, and successes of the creation of this country. Going forward, we must continue to do so, hopefully knowing our true history.
