It’s difficult because you have to immediately pull off the petals after they’re picked. Yours have started to turn into seed, but normally the green part comes right off if they’re fresh
I greatly appreciate your concise videos on the topic of diy fermentation, some ramble WAY too long. I look forward to your content and hope to continue to see more. It sounds like you have had some life happening so hopeful it is good changes.
I remember when you made the original dandelion wine video without the tasting. It didn't read me and I've started saving dandelion pedals because I really want to try it myself. It really is interesting the different wines that you can make from uncommon sources. It's basically making alcohol from sugar across-the-board but those flavors and nuances can come from non-normal sources and I love that!
I collected dandelions once to make a wine from them and forgot the bag in my car. Needless to say I’ve not collects them again lol. I am interested to try this on the future though
You don't have to remove all the green parts; remove just the stems; I used to go through the tedious and time consuming task of removing the green parts until I came across a recipe that recommends to remove only the stem. I made an experiment in which I made a tea with the dandelions removing only the stems; I was relieved to find out that it wasn't bitter. Later, I made 2 batches (12 liters) for the last two years and they came out great, ready to drink in 3 months but improved greatly after 6 months.
Honestly didnt know Dandelion Wine was a thing until I heard a song by the same name by Gregory Alan Isakov. Its a really chill song. Cant wait to try the recipe this summer!
This is such a great channel, especially for a novice like myself. We have a grape vine in the backyard so I thought this year I would finally put the grapes to good use and make some wine from them.
Excellent video! The only difference between your recipe and mine is that I add a handful of raisins for mouthfeel. They add a bit of thickness. The funny thing about dandelion wine and dandelion mead, is that they taste sweet at room temperature and dry when chilled. It’s the weirdest thing. I make a batch at least once a year because it’s so popular amongst my loved ones. Thank you for yet another video and for doing your best, again and again, to keep putting out quality content.
Very nice video! The dandelion salad idea, I tried it but I wilted the dandelion greens in hot bacon fat, and drizzled a little dijon mustard with in it, stirred it up and it was quite delicious. You can also clean and roast the roots for a faux-coffee type of drink. Better than that bitter chickory stuff they sell as fake coffee. Rockin video, thanks!
I made it once . Sure wished I would have had you helpful video . I found picking the dandelion very back breaking .. I made a Gallon of wine or at least I thought it was a wine . Love your patience & professionalism .
A different way to deal with the WEED. I've wondered what this wine would be like ever since I read Ray Bradbury's Story with that title (long, long time ago).
Good stuff, Charles. I'm ready to start my first wine. I have made dandelion jellies for years. It isn't bitter if you leave a few of the green guard leaves. I just cut the base of the guard and stem away. I'm hoping it works similarly for the wine!
General rule is 1 cup of sugar will increase one gallon of water by .018 where as 1 lbs of sugar will increase one gallon of water by .045, just do the math.
Hai My wine batch is more sweet and less alcoholic. I think I added more suger and I separated the mother material. Can i add more yeast now to get hight alcohol Please help
I've wanted to make dandelion wine ever since I read the Ray Bradbury book by the same name. Ray Bradbury turned out to be a shithead (politically speaking) later on in his life, praising men whose policies have ruined the country for my generation - George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. Regardless, a lot of his books have a special place in my heart. The political trajectory of his life is a good reminder that power corrupts. 'Dandelion Wine' is mainly a book about nostalgia for childhood summers with themes of family traditions passed down. I would like to make dandelion wine making one of my family traditions (if I don't explode my kitchen by accident, that is).
My incredibly creepy neighbour tried to push Ray Bradbury books on me as a child in the 70s. At the grand old age of 60 I'm about to try making dandelion wine.
if you hold the dandelion head on the green part and twist real hard, the yellow pedals pop out nice and easy.

Very interesting stuff, its all very cool!😊✌
Thanks for the instructions for a newbie.
That face of proud was priceless.

Gets bitter if you don't remove the green parts
Good to know

Very cool, but use the roots too. Really good as a tea. Best plant for a healthy heart.
Thanks!
@Lucas Turner Thank you, I haven't seen a donation on this channel in quite a while.

It looks like you liked it!
Mine is in fermentation for the past week now. Can't wait.
Welcome back! Welcome back! Welcome back!!! Missed you sir, glad you’re still doing some type of content. I’m always glad to watch.
I love it, I will tray
Looks amazing sir! Now I just need to hire a young kid to collect all the dandys, don't think my old back could take being hunched over that long!
Just roll the dandelion green between your thumb and pointer finger and all the petals some right out

This is not a technical wine making channel. Here simplicity is the key.
If you use corn sugar (dextrose), you'll have a cleaner, clearer wine.
Great video sir!
Good to see you !
Good to see you up and ready on your vids Charles. Hope you been doing well friend. Great video!
Thank. I am going to try and make it.
All parts of the dandelion are edible. I wonder how a dandelion root wine would be. Maybe not so good?

Please help
How coincidental, I just started a batch of metheglin
You don't use any yeast nutrient ?
the juice of 4 oranges, a handful of white raisins, and potato dextrose goes a long way in ensuring a healthy fermentation

1 gallon is NOT 4 litres 1:30 when you mentioned water measurement. and 0:45 4 quarts is NOT 4 litres. You must get your measurements straight
The measurements do not need to be that percise on this channel. It's close enough, and that's good enough.
Thanks!
