国道113号と並走して走る米坂線は現在､今泉駅～坂町駅間は2022年8月の大雨で現在も不通でしばらく電車は走っていません。復旧金額が86億円で工事期間が5年です。JRでの単独復旧は厳しいそうです。関川村にあったわかぶな高原スキー場は2019年で営業を終了しました。終了した理由は積雪不足です。
