It is really disheartening to see once the most preferred and convenient mode of transport in such a deplorable and neglected condition. Seems like the government has lost all it's interest in reviving and running the trams. I remember as a kid I used to go to school in tram route 35 and 37 which is now a history with absolutely no hopes of seeing those routes running again. Instead of removing the trams government should think of bringing modern trams to Kolkata. Well it is not about speed it is all about the intention of the government. I am sure with the right and positive intention a lot can still be done to bring back trams on the streets of Kolkata and most of the routes can be revived with proper planning. All we need is right people, right strategy, right planning and above all right intention.

Kolkata has the least road density among all the major metro cities of India and still the number of private cars is huge! Trams are such a nice mode of public transport that can carry so many passengers but still neglected. People are happy waiting in traffic jams, inhaling harmful exhausts from vehicles but they don't want the trams to continue trundling. What a shame
Is there any need of resuming this depot because trams bypass this depot. Moreover there is only one metal body tram standing rusty there. That tram could be towed out of the depot and repaired for service on currently operating routes like syambazar
