Also, Rociin' Around the Christmas Tree song mentions Pumpkin Pie! .... we all say something else for that line though! 😂 ... 🎶 Rockin' around the Christmas tree
    Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we'll have some pumpkin pie 🎶🎵
    And we'll do some caroling🎵

The biggest step in moving forward with your shopping anxiety is that you recognize the problem. The pressure you experience is from you being so organized and your level of perfection. Other people might go through life more laid back but they don't have your fabulous lifestyle and cooking capabilities. It is hard to provide a home as beautiful as yours. Be proud and enjoy......the bed is the best ever. 🎁❤️🎄

I completely understand the anxiety. I have to take medication for my depression and anxiety. There's nothing silly or stupid about why you're feeling anxious - even if other people may think it is. It's not something you can control. I have cried in my car from anxiety over going shopping. I'm SO grateful for home grocery deliveries, which I use 99% of the time for my sanity. You're definitely not alone! ❤️

Mike, I could feel your "bedding happiness " thru the screen! Every piece is gorgeous, and I would leave the duvet/comforter on at least until Valentine's Day.
Skylar's tail behind your shoulder while you are coming down the stairs is so cute😊 Definitely going to make Steve's Mistletoe treat! Great vlog☃️❄️

I LOVE YOUR PB CHRISTMAS BEDDING!!! I have a PB Christmas red and white gorgeous appliqué quilt that I adore and this year I used it downstairs tucked in on a daybed in the study. I put lots of PB Christmas throw pillows with it and I leave the French doors open so it looks wonderful from the living room. Your Christmas cards are amazing, what a treasure to have those beautiful photos, all 3 of you look SO handsome, Caleb is a beautiful little man! Merry Christmas from a GiGi (I have 2 grandprincesses and we love WDW) in Texas. ❤😊🎄🎁

I have anxiety with OCD. Unfortunately for me (and my husband) shopping -especially a purse or shoes - gives me such a rush!!! I actually feel better for a few hours after I shop if I was anxious prior. Some would say my cure is worse than my disease. 😂

Mike, I don’t know if you have adult ADHD. I’m not a diagnostician of such things. What I do notice is that it’s normal to experience what you’re describing with all the stimuli and inputs we’re subjected to these days. You’re aware of how you feel - which is commendable - juggling a lot of holiday excitement and preparations. You’re noticing the excitement of doing what you love - preparing for family and friends as your art and passion. It’s excitement whether it’s anxiety (forward thinking), self-reflecting on expenses (who doesn’t?), and honoring your need to go home and reset is a wise, healthy response.
It sounds like you’re mindful and in touch with what you’re sensing. There’s a tendency to pathologize our behaviors and compare how we do things to a fabricated measure of “normal." Burn the measuring stick. I say, befriend the way you do things and allow your normal to be flexible and adaptable. You know how to monitor and make sense of heightened emotion and pause to stop spiraling. You don’t need to subscribe to the modern invention of mental health diagnoses unless it makes you feel more comfortable. Be your quirky, beautiful, spirited self.
We live in a culture that has long suppressed natural human feelings and then pathologized our natural expressions resulting in a false perception that feeling less, and feeling a certain way is “normal.”
When I knew I wanted to transition from being a high school science teacher to a therapist, I chose professional counseling because our ethics don’t require us to diagnose to treat. We don’t have to pathologize human emotions. We want to do what you’re doing - notice them and be curious and compassionate about them. There are no bad parts, just the habit of wanting to understand them.
Written with respect and appreciation for all you do and who you are, a licensed professional counselor.
    Merry Christmas!! 🎄💖🕊️
P.S. As I get ready to post this comment, I’m feeling a little reluctant to share. I wrote this with compassion, respect, and a sincere desire to let you know, you’re a great role-model for expressing genuine authenticity and love. We need more of this kind of expression in the world.

I think I have the opposite of your shopping anxiety. If I have a big list, I just get the stuff on the list, and when I get home, I realize that I skipped over something or forgot to put something on the list. So maybe your anxiety is helpful because you don’t have to go back and get the things you missed and feel like a dumbass for the rest of the day. 😊

You are so not alone, for some reason the holidays bring on extreme anxiety. No matter how ultra organized I am panic sets in. My anxiety stems from what I call the " Martha Stewart syndrome" and putting so much pressure on myself for everything to be perfect. Actually stopping in a store and deep breathing helps. But I have gotten in the car and gone home. It's like a reboot, I reassess and redo my list. As I write this hope your holiday was fabulous. I have learned the best memories were the mess ups and the mistakes that my grown children remember. Let's all be kind to ourselves and give ourselves some space. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

I can understand where you’re coming from with the overwhelm with shopping. Mine seems to come from a sensory overload. It’s why I listen to a podcast, audiobook or calming jazz music while shopping. It helps me to focus and it drowns out all the noise. However, all the people and the bright lights make it difficult too. But like someone else posted, I feel like that’s pretty normal. Maybe find an empty aisle and do some calming breaths to reset? Thanks for sharing your experience. Talking about it makes a lot of us feel not so alone! 💜

My partner and I started using the Bring app while shopping, that way he can add things to the list while I'm out and it doesn't feel like I forgot something. Caleb is getting so articulate! I also have no idea how you have the patience to wrangle duvet covers. Everytime I try, my duvet turns into a ball. Happy holidays!

First off, that bedding is beautiful. 🤩 It definitely looks like a warm hug. I run super hot, but I don’t feel it. I could pile on as many blankets and quilts and feel just fine. My partner says I’m like a heater, so he’s the one that over heats because of how much heat I generate haha. And you explained exactly what happened to me at the store earlier today. For me, it’s the amount of people and the fact I have a cart. I don’t want to fight my way back through the store. I can come back. I did that with sour cream and some ham I remembered last minute I needed. I said forget it, checked out, went home. Then a few hours later, I went back out, stopped at a different store, and got it… I hope you and your family have a Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Regarding ADHD, yes, I know what you are going through. Shopping can be overwhelming for people with ADHD. For me I like things to run smoothly, and if anything creates an obstacle it will throw me off and cause anxiety. I am very partiular and it can come off as compulsive or controlling.

We made the decision this year to not do a traditional Christmas (it's just going to be my dad and I) and it has been so less stressful. We're keeping a couple of food items (like Pao de Quejo, Pigs in a Blanket and Saltine Toffee- my dad said he'd disown me if I didn't make that lol), but we're just going to enjoy a nice calm Christmas- we're both teachers so we're thankful for a couple of weeks of break.

Yea! Imagine having that same anxiety and not being able to afford it. Having to choose between toilet paper or toothpaste. Having to tell your family you can’t afford to get them gifts this year. Anxiety is anxiety. And all of us are given the cards we’re given, but remember you have the resources to address your concerns when many don’t. There are no presents under our tree this year. No travel plans. No celebration, and we’re both working both days. Merry Christmas.
