- Japanese version (1 loop only).
External 30hz autofire and in-game built autofire (10hz) buttons were used.
1 Credit Clear with some scoring in this shmup by Seibu Kaihatsu, basically, Raiden set (entirely) in SPACE!
Old run from December 18th, 2020. I thought I was going to aim for a higher score but I lost interest when I realized a bug in MAME (?) about medal pods not appearing in Stage 5, which doesn't seem to be present on the PCB (judging from watching other replays done on PCB).
EDIT: Turns out it's not a MAME bug, these medals pods are actually hidden, to make them appear you have to hover through the center of these 4 medals for a couple of seconds.

The three biggest mistakes in this run;
-Missed 1 enemy on Stage 6 because I messed up the route a little bit, losing the 100% bonus.
-Accidentally picking the Yellow M (missile) power-up in Stage 7, resulting in the use of 2 unplanned bombs.
-Destroyed one of the parts of the Stage 7 boss early before damaging them one by one, resulting in 2 bombs.

The first time I played this game was at the Cambrian College arcade room, the post-secondary school located in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. It was back in December 1997. The farthest I got in the was stage 4 because I didn’t want to waste my lunch money at the arcade, but if I used more quarters I would’ve beaten the game, but then I wouldn’t have any money left for lunch and I would have to wait until after school before I got home and have supper.
Viper Phase 1 is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and STUNNINGLY AMAZING

Great bra u r my hero 😃
Thats very interesting. I played the Japanese version at the arcades and that game had limited special weapon use (each weapon had a charge bar which would run out). So the counrty of origin (japan) doesn't define the difference between versions of the game, just (New Version)?
Terrific run, BTW.
Yeah, the version you played was the "Old Version", the original release of the game, which doesn't have the "New Version" text on the title screen.
Thanks for the compliment!
