I've owned a 2006 18ft G3 HP180 bass boat for over 13 yrs now...bought it in 2008. Yamaha 150 4 stroke, 3 blade 21pitch stainless steel prop, 6 inch Jack-plate...ride great, handles even better!!! I love it...I'D BUY ANOTHER ONE TOMORROW IF G3 STILL MADE MY BOAT!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama.
Love the fact that you used it in a big tournament to show that you can compete even without the high end bass boat! Especially for some of us that have other priorities but still want to compete. On a side note it’s great how you support the military it’s greatly appreciated.
In addition to what you said, that aluminum boat with a 4-stroke saves a lot of money on oil and fuel. You did all that running on 13 gallons? That's impressive, and that's a big factor for us little guys trying to fish as much as possible. Awesome video! God bless you GMan and your family.
100% correct G. I won and placed high in club and opens in a basstracker. You can sneak up on fish. Not how fast you are but , how you fish the water. That triton gets my heart racing!
Prep and practice and practice means knowing your equipment and how to use it to it’s full capabilities! Prefishing is not practice! Thanks G for all the good stuff you share!
Gman thank you for this im one of those guys your talking I didn't go to college went straight to work .. Thanks for keeping us little guys in mind love your content brother
I think the most important was said at the end. Win with preparation not money. And glad you made this video, you don't have to have a big glass boat with all the bells and whistles to compete. Thank you GMan. Stay safe this hunting season and God bless you and all your loved ones.
Thanks for the video, and some of us that got out of it for years having to work, now teaching are Kids, the aluminum is a great way to get back out on the water.
Excellent video G! A lot of us fellas can’t quite reach that 80k. It’s good to hear a pro give it to us straight that the tin rig is just as good. A fella can prep in a canoe...it’s all about the attitude, preparation, and determination!
GMAN!!! THANK YOU!!! so much for all your knowledge and keeping it real in this fishing game!!!! Also Thank You for taking the time you doing the breakdown of your boat!!! Hopefully this video will help my fulfill my son’s dreams of being professional fisherman!!!!! THANKS GMAN!
Awesome boat sir. Still cost to much for a father of 4 but a man can still dream at night when he lays his head down bill collectors can’t take that away.
Cool I have the same boat. Added shocks to the 2 side storage lids and I have a step, now with a hinge to make a storage area. Love my boat tows easy, moves easy on the water and yes it's easy on gas. FLC
LOVE aluminum boats. Have a 2021 Lund Impact (19'). Fishing boats bang around in stumps and rock....they take a beating so aluminum is the perfect choice. Durable, yet easy to repair. Nice rig buddy !!
Hey GMAN: Your tip is valid: I for one enjoy the feeling of much anticipation during my many hours of prep. Fishing and catching is fun too, but you gotta love prep to be successful.
I can catch just as many fish off that tin rig as most people can on a brand new fiberglass rig. Boat don't catch fish. I would be happy as could be to own a boat like that man. That's a nice rig.
I’ve got a 88’ 18’ glass rig I’m slowly upgrading to my liking. I’ll never be a professional but I’ll always compete locally in a club as long as the good Lord allows me to!
GMAN i live in the UK I'v been watching you for a year id like to say well done keep up the good work LOVE to YOU and LULU your wife and ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE TEAM for the season
Awesome commentary from a great pro/biz man/dude. Keeps it real for a LOT of family men on a real income/budget. GMAN...that is a cool man cave btw....love the deer mounts.
Awesome boat GMAN. Sometimes nothing beats fishing out of an ole tin rig. I got one too both hunt and fish out of and when I pull up at the ramp when fishing people stop and ask, look and take pictures of the motor I have because they don't see a surface drive everyday and now I can get to places where others can't to fish. Keep it up with the fishing and good luck
I bought my tuition 186 v mag in 04 git the new 05 ,awesom boat I still have it today all original equipment I've had javelin skeeter back in the day,I love this boat an with the high prices I'm gone keep it,150 efi mercury it's fast handles goo I love a tin rig
Thanks for keeping it real looking to buy my first boat and probably gonna be a tin rig I just love to and tired of being in the back of boat. Ain’t but 24 so maybe I have a chance to fish in the big league one day or at least some opens
That is an absolutely gorgeous boat! I’d love to have a rig like that. My wife and I love fishing the creeks and seeing the occasional alligator out on Flint Creek in Morgan county. I unfortunately had to sell my rig a couple years ago due to having kidney surgery. Haven’t been out on the water since. I’ve been itching to get back out there. I know that I’ll get another boat one day and I’ll be back to enjoying the water and ripping lips 😊 I love keeping up with your bass fishing journey. It inspires me so much. You have a backstory that touches the lives of so many because it’s so easily relatable to us. I just wanted to thank you for doing what you do and keeping it real. God bless you and your family, G. I hope I get the opportunity to fish with you one day. I ain’t even gotta have a hook in the water. Just to be out there and have some good conversation with you would be good enough for me. Much love brother.
I’ve got the same boat thanks for showing it off g-man an given us some pointers on rigging boats I fish local here in Kingsport Tennessee with local tourneys an rodeos this boat buy far has changed my game an great fuel mileage as well handles big water great to nice rig for sure man
Thanks, G. Excellent info. My RT188 is rigged similar - Ultrex, Helix, and TH accessories. I have to get one of those TM Cable sleeves - sharp. I'm running an Opti ProXS with an X7 Spitfire 19". I added the port console, so I'm running 44, but normally cruise at 40.
Slick rig! You need to come catch some catfish with me at Wheeler! Starting next weekend I will be there 3 weekends in a row getting ready for Cabela's King Kat tournament in November
Great video and great advice!!! I fish on a little 15 footer and catch just as many fish. Although I will get a bigger boat at some point the boat doesnt catch the fish..
I love my tx190 bass tracker. If i would have bought a glass boat ,I wouldn't have been able to afford the electronics and ipilot. I dont do tournaments very often though
Thanks for this video. I dreamt since I was 16 I wanted a Bullet with a 225 Merc. Fast forward 22 years and I just bought my first NEW boat. It’s a Tracker with that same 115 Pro XS. I came to realize, I just want to catch fish and maybe compete at a local level. I’m very happy with my boat and bit by bit I hope to “Trick” it out too 😄
Love the info..... But cant lie.... Cant stop looking at all them mounts you have on the wall! Would love a vid talking about some of the more memorable hunt stories!!! Keep on that grind big guy!
Mr Cantrell you mist have had a crystal ball because the G-man is comin home to the Elite series to get some more those blue trophies including another AOY title and a Bass Masters classic title to add to the rest. Couldn't be happier like the rest of the great fisherman who follow a great man! Should be an incredible year for the Big G!!!
I’m that framer🤣 I found an old ‘89 tf1800 that was cheaper than dirt spent my days rewiring the boat and rebuilding the old Johnson 150 finally got it all done and reupholstered two days before my last tournament this year and man I’ve never been on the water feeling like I’d already won just knowing every inch of my boat. It just is the confidence thing. Yeah it’s a 1989 cost me 2000 (not including my graphs and trolling motor)But gets me to the same places as these guys who’re running boats that are 25k-50k.
I have that same boat. Idk if you"ve had this experience with the compartments yet, but they leak like crazy! I'm going to try some of that camper seal you recommended. The only one thing I don't like about the layout of this boat is the center Rod Locker. With the baits in the side compartments everytime I need to get to something I have to move all my rods to get the lid open. I noticed yours doesn't have the step to the front deck. Did you take that out or did that not come on that boat?
I own a Ranger 198p . I’m running about 10 to 15 miles an hour slower than my old glass boat. I miss going fast . But my boat is really comfortable to fish out of an the Mercury 4 stroke sips the fuel. Ranger aluminum and the Tritons look almost exactly the same .
Aluminum boats have come a long way in the last 40 years since I bought my 1st jon boat! If I were to buy a new boat at this time, it would definitely be an aluminum model. I can buy a house for what it would cost to buy a new fiberglass boat!
Awesome I have been trying to tell my high school Bass team members that they should start out in an aluminum boat and go from there. If you don't mind me asking GMAN how much is your Triton Tin-rig all tricked out?
Thanks for the video G. I just couldn't justify a $60k plus for a bass fishing boat, so I purchased a 21 foot deep V as we have big deep water in the Northeast and it's been an awesome boat. Would I be allowed to fish a aluminum in a bass tournament or do you need to have a fiberglass boat ??
TackleJunky81 I have the 198P with a 150 Mercury 4S. It’s very close in size and weight to the 188. I think you’d find a 50hp VERY underpowered for this rig. I think you would be happier with the 178 which is more suited to the lower horsepower. It will offer you much more storage space than your Tracker, but honestly if the Tracker is still running well I’d keep it. A paid off boat pays you back 😃
I've owned a 2006 18ft G3 HP180 bass boat for over 13 yrs now...bought it in 2008.
Yamaha 150 4 stroke, 3 blade 21pitch stainless steel prop, 6 inch Jack-plate...ride great, handles even better!!!

Ain't scared of he guy in the $80,000 rig...scared of the guy in the $15,000 rig with $6,000 in electronics!!! LOL. Love the videos G, keep em coming!
Thank you for this video. I'm an older guy 50. I love to fish local club tournaments. I cant afford a glass rig. This video really helps.
When I met you at Lake Raven north of Conroe last Feb you said how you liked the way my TRACKER was set up.Made me feel pretty good coming from you.
Good stuff. Me and my dad fished many an hour and even a few tournaments in a tin rig.
Gman thank you for this im one of those guys your talking I didn't go to college went straight to work .. Thanks for keeping us little guys in mind love your content brother
Thx for giving a shoutout to all the framers G!
Nice video. I am 58 and wanting to buy my first boat. This looks like the perfect boat, like it very much.
Your exactly right with your tip at the end. Preparation..... Thanks GMan

Damn I got that same boat. And damn sure ain’t no college man. You the man G
This.............This was a post with True Value! Fabulous job, Fabulous advice.
I have been a glass owner my entire life, But I am really liking the Triton or Ranger Aluminum Boat especially with the new pad on it..
Dont get any better than gman. I'm telling you. Love this dude.
Awesome boat sir. Still cost to much for a father of 4 but a man can still dream at night when he lays his head down bill collectors can’t take that away.
Great video. I own an aluminum Tracker and enjoy it immensely. It fits my budget and I catch fish.. That’s about all I need.
Love the video man. Sharp tin rig. I’m a huge fan of the tin rigs.
I'm glad G-Man that you mentioned the Camper sealer! I was wanting to add that to my boat. Great tip G-Man!
Cool I have the same boat. Added shocks to the 2 side storage lids and I have a step, now with a hinge to make a storage area. Love my boat tows easy, moves easy on the water and yes it's easy on gas. FLC

Great looking boat! Set up so awesome, it could serve as your tour boat! 👌👍
That’s my dream boat. Love the set up
Just sold mine this year. Same boat but not as tricked. Makes me want to buy another one. I loved that boat.
I can catch just as many fish off that tin rig as most people can on a brand new fiberglass rig. Boat don't catch fish. I would be happy as could be to own a boat like that man. That's a nice rig.
That shop is on point!! Nice rig!
GMan...U da Man!!! i went to work aswell and just got my first boat a 175 txw tracker and definitely gonna trick her out and roll with it for a while!
Awesome commentary from a great pro/biz man/dude. Keeps it real for a LOT of family men on a real income/budget. GMAN...that is a cool man cave btw....love the deer mounts.

Nice rig. I’ve got one too and put a boarding ladder on the back for when it gets hot and you need to cool off. Kids use it too nonstop
Thanks GMAN !!!! Great video ! I have a 2018 Ranger tin rig and love it. Had a heavy fiberglass that I traded in and I love the weight difference.
That is an absolutely gorgeous boat! I’d love to have a rig like that. My wife and I love fishing the creeks and seeing the occasional alligator out on Flint Creek in Morgan county. Very true. Well put Gman. Humble to the max.
Have the same boat. Absolutely love it.
Thanks for Boat tour hope to meet you at the tournament October 11th

Saw you at Grand as you were pulling out of the water in the boat. Took a video of it too. Nice rig!

Awesome video! I hope to be a pro one day, fishing out of my aluminum boat gets me on the water!
Big fan of the G-Man!!! Love the video! Wished you still fished the Elite Series Tho'. Long Live 5 Big Bass!

I see ur seats split open in exact same place as mine. Seen others w same issue.
That’s one bad aluminum boat Gman!
Nice rig I love my tin rig!

G where do you get those line buckets?
Awesome I have been trying to tell my high school Bass team members that they should start out in an aluminum boat and go from there. If you don't mind me asking GMAN how much is your Triton Tin-rig all tricked out?
Good stuff GMAN...Hope to have me a rig similar to that one day!
How did you attach the Camper Seal?
Just curious ,why no shallow water anchors?
Amen to that.
Been a roofing contractor for 22 years.
Hope I can buy a 60k boat
Thank you sir, bass don’t know the difference between an $80k rig or a $3k rig.
Is it for sale? Lol this is an awesome boat!
Aluminum boats are allowed. If you want a little more leveled playing field((speed wise) you can search out 150hp and under tournaments.
Are those graphs in the way while driving? They look a little high. Nice Rig though.
Since the move to phoenix boats. Do you still have and use the tin rig g man? Thanks bro
What did you use to replace the rod tubes in the rod locker and how did you do it. I have been wanting to do it to my 2017.
Love this guy
Gerald: how bout talking through the boat cover? stock cover those big tv's on the console?
Killer rig G! Could you run that boat with a 50hp? The lakes I fish have HP restrictions and 50hp is max.
TackleJunky81 I have the 198P with a 150 Mercury 4S. It’s very close in size and weight to the 188. I think you’d find a 50hp VERY underpowered for this rig.
