Extremely NICE! Still with ballads, LOVE the T. Dorsey Tone. Love the high notes played beautifully Dave. Trombonist, consider checking out Frank Rosolino, my very favorite bone player of all time.
This guy should listen to the late great trombone balladeer Joe Howard, or Alan Kaplan, one of today's greats on how to play a ballad. Steinmeyer's version to my ears sounds ugly and unmusical!
You need to listen to this guy more than.. first off, I don’t know if you play trombone, but this is basically impossible for anyone else on this earth to do. And he’s probably the only one make music that high up . He’s doing some funny effects and octaves sure. But if wanted to just play straight tommy Dorsey with no embellishment than he can do that better than probably anyone. He is playing this ballad for the musicians not the audience, because the brass back there know that’s he’s showing off something only he can do. Just listen to “ Can you read my mind” that’s him soaring above the sky very musically.
We did countless performances together. I sincerely believe that Dave is the finest lead trombonist that has ever lived. Vaughn..🎺
Great playing! Nice Phil Wilson arrangement!
You all are unbelevably great & dave steinmeyer hittibg those high notes on his trombone is phenomenal.

In Jackson; Miss.
two of my favorite trombonists in this video, Dave up front and brotha Watters behind him
I loved it when steinmeyer did the mutiphonics, didn't get it quite right at the end and harry watters raised his eyebrows :) 3:46
Watching Matt Niess to the right just shake his head is quite worth the watch.
Not one of my favorite rendition of Tommy Dorsey’s popular song but I do enjoy Dave Steinmeyer trombone skills!

I know I’m 5 years too late but I definitely agree. Kinda of a cool idea but definitely a miss on this one. Still crazy high 😂
