Yeah, this is very different from 2016+ Eminem. The stuff from his early albums have a much more humorous vibe. Look at songs like "The Real Slim Shady," "My Band," etc. It wasn't until Recovery that he got a lot more serious (e.g., "Not Afraid"). That being said, this song still has BARS!
This is one of the radio singles that Em used to put out on each album for the pop audience. Songs like this are why I preferred his features and mixtapes over his albums until the music industry died and he stopped caring.
Do you ever think that a rapper has ever been trying to finish a line, and needs someone to diss, but the only person they can think of is someone they have no beef at all with, and so they tried to contact them and were just like "Hey man- look, tryna finish this rhyme, can I make it sound like i don't like you? then you can diss me in your next one- sound good?"
