The first one I bought broke - as mentioned by @Jay,comes away on a hot day. Thought maybe I was at fault by over-tightening so bought a second. Found the whole assembly collapsed in my car on a summers day day. Others have reported this as well. I find it hard to believe that a company of the stature of Garmin cannot produce something that is up to the job.

my Porsche has vertical air vents ,will this mount turn 180 to accommodate ?
Dont waste ur money little bump n bottom support shifts and comes away on a hot day the clip in the vent snapped.
Same thing happened to mine, not worth the money.
Question: would it accommodate my garmin nüvi 7"?
That might be too much weight. The 7" model worked fine for me with their friction mount though.

breaks easily! my 8 yo granddaughter just tapped the unit and one of the tabs that hold the vent broke off.
i doubt an 8 year old tapped it "lightly". lol...Im sure thats what she told you though.
Bought 2 both broke the exact way you described. They are useless go check on amazon comments.
