The writing in the first one is just better. The new one just feels like they're listing off random junk from TBC to desperately try to peak your nostalgia, but the first feels like a genuine love letter to the game.
So I watched both of them a couple of times now and I can tell you why this one Rings Hollow in comparison. While this one for the burning Crusade has a better singer no one singing along with him they just let him sing it feels whole lot less impactful. The first one is so clearly full of love and happiness where this one just seems to be trying to continue a trend that was popular. I'll folium it I've never even played World of Warcraft in the first trailer gets me hyped but the second one it's so much more low-key that it doesn't work as well. It simply doesn't emphasize the fact of community which was done well with everyone singing

Honestly the first video would be some wholesome fun, if not for the fact that it contrasts so strongly with the reality of the situation. Blizzard's current main purpose is monetization, not fun, so this feels dishonest and forced, and that is I believe where the cringe aspect is coming in.

I’ve played more WoW than FF14 but if I were to pay a monthly sub for a game ever again it would either be Ashes of creation or FF14. FF14 has way more going for it than WoW simply because the devs care about the game. Unfortunately you can’t play an orc and the closest thing you can get to playing a manly character like a dwarf or orc is the fridge people which is annoying cause aside from that each race isn’t that unique they’re just all pretty people but at the end of the day the storytelling is actually better as time went forward unlike WoW where it peaked at Wotlk just being carried off of Warcraft’s bones and then literally destroying everything cata forwards to now we have done the opposite of a microscope and have gone so far out with inconsistent power scaling that shit doesn’t and will never make sense. My friend who has never played WoW is getting a laptop and is probably gonna Boost instead of starting from level 1 and I think that is such a scuffed way to experience the game, especially classic
My ex first tried getting me into WoW back in WoD and I used the boost and was so damn lost that I wanted to quit so bad. Was absolutely miserable for me and I played league instead for a while. Then I tried again after leveling a character on my own and actually learned that there was intended rotations and what each thing did one by one instead of trying to make sense of what each thing did and drag it from my spell book to somewhere on my bar. Then I learned how to do macros and that changed the world for me too. Tell him to absolutely level a character up to 20 at LEAST before using the boost so he will be far less confused or else he’s going to be overwhelmed and want to quit or just be so shit no one is gonna wanna play with him/you guys.
