    I don't know with this year, god damn it. I thought I was gonna buy a laptop since Intel 13th and RTX 4 are so good and the improvement is quite big, but what's there to choose from when you don't want a big-ass thing like MSI titan, but rather something like Lenovo or Asus release. Current Legion Pro is like a total downgrade regarding anything except CPU/GPU power, they cut the cost massively to provide decent end-customer price. And Asus Scar expensive as hell, but with various issues, screen stuttering, system freezing, maybe not a major issue, but also more coil whine than ever. And they are super duper expensive, too. So I feel like I'd be getting a worse laptop with more power for more money than in 2022. The hell with that...

      I am in the same place and the worst part I live in Brazil. I have 5 days to choose something before a family members comes here (and brings me the PC I will pay for). For what it is worth I will be saving THOUSANDS of reais even if I buy a "expensive" laptop. I am almost buying the Legion Pro RTX4080 13th Intel 32 gb of ram for 2500 (cupon code to the rescue).
      Everything else is even more expensive. If you have any ideas I am all for it. Sucks living here.

    I have the same system with 2x the memory and storage space. I looked at the MSI and the Asus, but MSI's hinges are sus and the Asus burned a few bridges with me back in the ROG days on a 17" when the power connector needed to be resoldered to the mainboard and the LAN port stopped working, all right out of warranty. This one is light enough to carry on a plane, to use in a hotel room while working on the road and to carry around the home for video meetings and random game and TV/movie viewing. I don't care much about plastic vs glass, since the chassis system will probably outlast the power creep on new units and inapplications/games.

  • @arbous65
    @arbous65 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi there. You seem to be very knowledgable. Would you be able to compare Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 4080 with 4070? I'm a content creator and use external monitor so better screen laptops with much more price than Legion Pro 4080 model may not buy me much improvement but it's good to find out if 4080 does whole lot more efficiency-wise for a massive 4k project in Adobe After Effects compared to 4070. In Canada 4070 model with half the RAM of 4080 model is only less than 500 Canadian dollars cheaper than 4080 model so I have a feeling if performance comparison between 4080 and 4070 model prove that there is a good chunk of jump in performance (like 40 to 50 percent), then it's worth the extra 500 dollars investment. What do you think?

    • @TechWithSean
      @TechWithSean  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For your use case, VRAM is probably more of the deciding factor than the CUDA cores. If you can, try to monitor your VRAM usage when editing a typical project and see if it wants more than 8GB. It all depends on what resolution, codec, effects, etc. are being used, so it’s hard to give a definitive answer.
