    One thing I forgot to mention; Banggood lists the power for this laser as follows:
    1mw = 1 watt
    5mw = 3 watt
    This is likely to get around customs laws. What I have here is the 1mw model, which is really the 1 watt model

      Yo bro buy a 200mw laser any colour you want from this website called kaidomain and do a review on it! One of the very few websites which will give you a laser that's true to its MW and cheap!

    Very bright beam for a red laser. Nice video 👍

    @dante19890 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I need to tell u that all highpower red laser have horrible beam divergence... its just the nature of the diode. its a line and not a dot. U need a beam extender that can fatten up the beam and correct it.

    • @XM360
      @XM360  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ya, I've noticed that too, but none as poor as this one

    • @thearthole
      @thearthole 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andreas Tzimboukakis that's very true, I bought the Sanwu x3 Beam Expander and it beautifully corrects the beam profile. But you need to check first if your laser host has matching M*PItch thread in order to fit it.

    • @dante19890
      @dante19890 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes rob. I have a 1W sanwu red laser and it has horrible divergence without the expander. At higher wats all laser starts having worse divergence so a beam expander is pretty much essential if u care about having a nice beam.

    • @dante19890
      @dante19890 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      xm360 my sanwu 1w 639nm have even worse divergence than that so its perfectly normal.

    Have you reviewed your LPM?
    afterall it is a private made hobby grade TIC-meter, and I recall some of the admins on Laser pointer forums got like +15% inaccuracy errors on some of there laserbee-units some years back, but I have not been ajour if it was a fluke or it got sorted or the reason, but what are your impression do you get reading that are way off from one to the next and do you have lasers that you exactly know the power watt effect off and you can use a semi reference??. as I saw reading up at 681mW at 8:55 and next reading is more then -10% lower.
    This doesnt have to be bad sign, as lasers can actually be quite different from one reading to the next, but its more the overshoot that seems weird,
    whats your view on this meter, I know you dont have a reference class LPM to hold it up to, but often you can sense it simply from multiple reading if there is big variations.
    anyway did you conclude if it was Mitsubishi PL73 or Occlaro HL63193 they have fitted? canned HL63 or decanned diode.MP73 ?
    Thx for your video, and particularly the LPM testing.

      @XM360  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You raise very good questions! I did a video of the LPM a while back, but it is a bit dated:
      th-cam.com/video/XGpIaJA3rZ0/w-d-xo.html
      I have always enjoyed the unit and trusted its results. I have taken several commonly tested lasers with plenty of readings on LPF, and my Laserbee always seems to be spot on with the data. And lasers that I tested a year ago will still show the same power reading today. I use the Laserbee A, which has been discontinued for an upgraded model. As for the diode here, I don't do a whole lot of teardowns (mostly because I'm awful at putting lasers back together) so I can't definitively confirm the diode

    I've always wondered about these. Generally, just about all high power multi mode diodes will produce this rectangular spot and have wider divergence. Some have more than others. But reds are the worst... not that they're cheap or anything but just the nature of these diodes. Sometimes you gotta lower your expectations. Your single mode (lower power) diodes are going to give you that quintessential Dot most expect. Nonetheless, nice review! Thx😉

    I ve a 637 nm Viper from Dragonlasers with 50 mW. It has a round beamshape and extremly low divergence - reaches far distances, although it has little power (no burning possible). In the darknes you can see the Beam satisfactory good. My 200mW 650 nm is a bit worse to see even though 4 times the power.

  • @chrisclatterbuck1881
    @chrisclatterbuck1881 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am kinda interested in these. The divergence looks worse then some of the high powered 445nm though. It might do well with a 3x expander to put a cap on the divergence. If the 1w is actually 600 any guess as to what the 3w model might actually be?

    well the box even said "1mW" .. but that is obviously not 1 mW .. looks half-watt. but yeah, a laser without a key of 1 watt would be subject to being tossed at customs due to the FDA/ILDA regs, especially since its calling itself a "laser pointer". Granted that it is lacking a compliant warning label could get it pulled as is. But under-rating is becoming a fairly common way to skirting the import regs, since technically you have to file a variance to import anything over 5 mW. oh.. you did a power measurement... yeah seems about right... but yeah, all our laser imports require full appropriate declaration on a FDA Form 2877 (OMB # 0910-025) including all documentation to support classification and compliance to control rules. But yeah, looks like a reject diode from the manufacture of laser products like ours. *shrugs*
