Grow song of the evertree. I really liked it but other games like Wylde Flowers then Fae Farm grabbed my attention a bit more. Have you ever played Grow, Payton?

I haven't played Roots of Patcha or SpiritFarer since July and I haven't finished either. I do want to go back to both and it is partly new things to play but they have their reasons too.
Patcha after the initial starting phase that farming sims have just didn't have enough story/deeper reasons for doing things to keep me wanting to keep doing things. As much as I love the idea of a quite cozy life on a farm, in gaming practice I need some interesting story, some meaning, at least some interesting bread crumbs to follow different directions (Stardew style).
Spiritfarer I think could just use a stronger direction in the game. It becomes a bit frustrating sailing around kinda aimlessly hoping to figure out what you need to open up the next area, when all your tasks lead you to needing to be in the closed off area. Help me find my way game.

I stopped playing Ooblets. It was really cute and engaging at first and then it just started to feel grindy to me. I wish there was a little more going on or just more focus on the farming/collecting side. It just felt stuck in the middle of something to me. But I don't regret my time with it.

absolutely the same here. At first it was surprisingly amazing, but 20 hours in i realized it's only about more fighting, more grinding, more plant growing and that was about it. It didn't have an aim

The Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee games might be more for you. They're pretty chill remakes of the very first games with features that make the games more on the "cozy" side and less stressful. They're made to be specifically beginner-friendly and even as a non-beginner I found them cute and enjoyable.

Like others have suggested I also recommend Pokémon Legends Arceus. Everyone told me to start with Let’s Go but I decided my first Pokémon game would be Arceus and I’m so happy. I’ve only been playing a few days but I love being able to run around and essentially do what I want, I can collect or battle, farm materials. There is also fun little side quests and then when I’m ready I can follow the main quests. It’s been so fun and cozy for me. I highly recommend!

Hey Payton!! As you said, we are all allowed to have different opinions and I'd like to say: I LOVE No Place Like Home, it is a wonderful game if you're into solarpunk and recycling, I just love cleaning all the land and transforming trash in other things!! It's super relaxing!

Everyone loves cozy grove but to be honest I can’t seem to get into it. It’s all fetch quests so far on an island that seems so small it’s not even fun to run around and find something, I can’t tell if I like the graphics (things are hard to see on the ground plus it glitches), and I’m just a bit bored. Forever searching for that addiction, want to play every second of my life like I did when acnh first came out ahaha

I go through cycles of getting excited, giving up and deleting my save data, seeing someone love this game and getting excited again, forgetting that I don’t love playing it. I know the area expands through gameplay, and when you keep up with it the colour becomes permanent(ish?) in areas where you’ve completed that part of the story, but my gameplay is sporadic, so… not for me

I enjoy No Place Like Home for the relaxing cleaning experience, but the rest of the game is pretty lackluster and even buggy in some areas. There are too many animals and the crops aren't needed very much, so I only grow when I need something. So I play it occasionally when I just want to zone out by cleaning things up.
I played Cozy Grove for quite some time, but just kinda got boring. I'm fine with the concept of only playing a little each day, but it also felt grindy and the visuals made it hard for me to actually find anything, so I paid for hints more than anything because I just got so frustrated.

  • @AlexDayz
    @AlexDayz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

I love Scarlet and Violet but definitely agree they’re not the best for beginners. I’ve been playing the games since Sun and Moon and was still overwhelmed by just how open ended it was. For Switch I’d personally recommend starting with Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. They’re a lot more simple and while there is a story of sorts it’s not as prevalent as in other games. The catching mechanic is taken from Pokémon GO as well which definitely makes it more friendly for many who got into Pokémon via the app. Pokémon Legends Arceus also focuses a lot on ‘studying’ the Pokémon though controls very differently from your traditional Pokémon game.
As for the community, sorry you gotta deal with that. It’s unfortunate how many will gatekeep and shun newer players for mistakes or mispronouncing names (even though we can’t even agree on how to say some lol). Though there will always be people willing to accept you in even if you don’t know everything and do their best to foster a positive community

No Place Like Home really soured me on gaming for a while. If you don’t spend the currency just right, you can’t get more and then can’t move forward with the game. You’re stuck. That’s why I had to stop playing. I paid for a full game and didn’t get one. I feel completely ripped off 😤

My biggest regret is fae farm 😢. I was so exicted and it was my most anticipated game of this year. I couldn't make it past 15 hours over tried to go back bit it's just so boring and the endless mining grind is such a drag. I regret spending $90 CAD on this.

Oh my gosh, same. I was SO excited for Fae Farm and then I got it. I mean I beat it, but it felt unfinished. As in, there wasn’t enough gameplay or idk something was missing. I’m so disappointed.

LITERALLY SAME. I was bored from the beginning but kept playing for about 10 hours to try and see if it would get better. It didn’t. I was really upset I had been so excited for it since I first heard about it and I paid full price for it when it came out on my birthday. Huge regret. I can’t understand the people who say it’s a good game.

I'm a longtime Pokemon player, and IMO Scarlet/Violet was the most disappointing release to date because it just felt so rushed and incomplete. The performance issues were really obnoxious, but they also removed a lot of normal quality-of-life options (the ability to skip battle animations, the ability to scroll through the pokedex a page at a time - not one entry at a time, etc) and also just so weird new issues that they introduced (a billion long cutscenes that you can't skip, even if you watched it already - e.g. from failed gym challenges). It just really made the experience unfun. Sword/Shield (the previous main releases) were similar disappointing, but had fewer issues. I still haven't finished Scarlet, and it's the first time I thought a game wasn't worth the price tag.
I'm not sure if I'd really qualify any of the main Pokemon releases as "cozy", but HeartGold/SoulSilver might charm you with its partner pokemon, and OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire was a fun remake all-around IMO. (For story, I personally recommend Black/White.)

I love Pokémon but Violet isn’t probably the best starting game , fans can be jerks though.
My personal favorite is actually the spin-off Legends series, though I’ve spent 80hrs on Violet lol
Paradise Marsh sounds like something I’d love though!
I’ve stopped playing Pioneers of Olive Town,,it’s just not great- especially compared to Friends of Mineral Town.

I've only played earlier Pokemon games, so i can't definitively recommend any recent ones. However, of the Pokemon games available on Switch I've heard good things about Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee, which are apparently remakes of the original game. I did very much enjoy Pokemon Yellow back in the early 2000's.

Pokémon cozy is probably more legends: Arceus, and snap (I’ve only ever played switch and Arceus was my first). It still wasn’t quite what I thought it might be, but it was mostly a pleasant surprise, though being both a newbie to the franchise and a sporadic sort of gamer, I still have to break up my gameplay with lots of googling since I forget type matchups or best catching/levelling strategies etc. At least I enjoyed Arceus enough that I bought some of the other Pokémon switch games, which as a not much better than minimum wage casual gamer says a lot.

the only thing i liked about pokemon violet was the pokemon Ceruledge.
i think you'd like Pokemon Let's Go eevee, the shinies are overworld and you see the sparkles.
Pokemon Legends Arceus shinies are overworld and it has a sound indication
it was the performance issues that put me off playing S/V
but i am very much the same i would've liked S/V if it wasn't for the performance
i stopped playing Stardew Valley purley because of burn out and i need a refreshing farming sim which is why i want Coral Island on switch!

While I don't have a cozy game I stopped playing, seeing Pokemon Scarlet/Violet on the list took me by surprise. At the time of its release, the remake of "Finding Paradise" by Freebird Games, which got more attention to my twin rather than Pokemon Scarlet/Violet.
I do agree with the shiny Pokemon mechanic. I feel that so much, as I love to find shiny Pokemon so much, but there wasn't any indicator for it. And the bugs, while annoying, found it very funny from time to time. Yeah, I do wish it had more time being fleshed out and worked on, but that's just how some of the newer games are.

Stopped playing and feel really ripped off by Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. So incredibly boring, stamina so tiny you literally can't do anything, very few ways to make money, nowhere to go, nothing to see, people really boring, the "romance" males were all awful. The only one with a decent personality didn't do a lick of work, just played music. I hated the entire experience. Also Hokko Life. I thought it would be like Animal Crossing, but the crafting system was so horrendous I couldn't enjoy it at all. I gave up before I even got a farm or knew about farming. It sucked the (Hokko) Life out of me. Those two I regret because I paid a lot for them. I also stopped playing Aka but it cost so little I don't really care. I adore Fae Farm, really into it. Also, Palia and Coral Island, but I'm a bit upset about Coral Island as I have a ton of money in that game I have to rescue somehow before 1.0 drops. I'm angry at DDV and not sure what I'm going to do going forward, but I have certainly gotten my money's worth out of that one. I bought a couple of others that I haven't played yet: Grow: Song of the Evertree and I am Future, so not sure about those.
