Both version are good, but there is only one i would have ear in my seat music speakers, and this is THIS VERSION. The voice of Mitsuyoshi Version is in my bones during a game of Daytona USA. I was disappointed where i hear that he was not the singer on my Daytona USA 2 ... and finally the 4 novembre 2021 i discover that there is his version ... it's too late, now i can just imagine the effect that it would have been. Well now in 2021 i finally found a place with Daytona USA 3, i finally i can play and hear his voice in the music speakers of the arcade seat, in the new version of The King of Speed !!! Priceless (Finally if I paid my game of course ^^ ')!!!
As good as this soundtrack is, nothing will ever surpass the madlad in 1994 that thought, "What if we string together vowel and consonant sounds to make lyrics (or just TON-DAY-EeEeE)?" That guy is someone who I will always respect. No one would ever think to do that nowadays, and that's why I love it.
> No one would ever think to do that nowadays yes because it's not needed anymore. the original daytona USA can't store full vocal recordings, and only could fit in the word 'ooh' 'ahh' 'ehh' and 'daytona'
@@beemoescarmew There's actually three songs from the Daytona USA B-univ album, specifically Let's Go Away (the Daytona part is sung by Mitsuyoshi, the rest is sung by David Leytze), Pounding Pavement, and Sky High (both songs are entirely sung by Mitsuyoshi himself), that has lyrics, which does prove your point, although I should note that those song were made for the album, so they are not constrained by hardware limitations of the original Model 2 board. A bit of fun fact: that version of Let's Go Away on the Daytona USA B-univ album mentioned above features Tetsuo Sakurai from Casiopea on the bass!
This song remains pure joy for me. The glory days of Sega. Their finances may have been in the toilet at this point, but their creativity kept peeking none the less. What an amazing ride it was in the 1990s! I just wish those days could have lasted forever. Mitsuyoshi-san's versions should have never been altered in the west. Dude has the pipes, whether the melodies are in English or Japanese.
I choose to believe that Mitsuyoshi purposely makes his versions replete with sexual innuendo to troll the player (I heard him sing "Kinky Bob", "it's no ass game" & "picking up boys") so we know which way he swings lol
@@muzzleflash2483 Actually, if you buy an model 3 board and connect it to TV screen and controller, you have basically a home console (that runs Jamma boards or GD-rom discs)
The TRUE voice of Daytona USA series
a tip : watch series at Flixzone. Been using them for watching a lot of movies recently.

Agreed. Mitsuyoshi is a blessing.

God this song is so good, had no idea the og sang it. Both versions are really great.
He's also the composer, he has written ALL the songs he has sung for SEGA over the years IIRC
Backing vocals for this version is Dennis St. James. Main vocals is by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi.

The tracks in this game should have been in Daytona USA 2001 with Mitsuyoshi's vocals.

This version was used as alterntive, the OG was used in Japan too
I love how Takenobu sings the song completely differently!

Hot take: This shouldn’t have been sung by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi *or* Dennis St. James. It should’ve been a duet between the *both* of them
In a sense, this song already is. Dennis' backing vocals are still present in this track.
A proper duet, though, would be HEAVENLY
the dude said kinky bob! LOL
