afonsords yeah... It's very strange seeing what the world looked like 24 years ago in such good quality... Imagine 50 years from now people seeing 4k footage of today... If watching this is strange then imagine what that would be like
This is so strange... Ive always realized that people from the past are pretty much exactly like us but seeing kids and teens in this in such high quality really made me FEEL that. All these people just living their life just another day. I wonder where they are now and how they're doing...
2:37- 3:13 When she said "It's good to live it again" and then that sax solo that lead to that last shot with the Twins Tower in the Background at night, i couldn't help but start sobbing, they ruined one of the most beautiful skyline in history.
The Twin Towers given to the city category and a special touch...,the golden age of NY is when the two skyscrapers was there. Now in 2018 the city looks empty without them. I miss the NY of the 80s and 90s.
I grew up without them there, so I have to say I prefer the new skyline over the old one, just having grown up with it. I love NY footage from the 90's though, the city just seems to have a totally different aura around it than it currently does.
does anyone else wanna know what happened to the people in this video? did they graduate uni? did they get married? did they have children? what careers did they move into? how did they cope with 9/11? did any die before it and retain innocence? did any perish in the towers? the human brain can do strange things, this is filmed a year before my birth, I don't know these people and they will never know I exist... yet I care enough about them to wonder these questions.
I live in NYC close to 30 years, and it was th ebst times in my Life. Thank you NYC i learned, cried, and suffer, and yet it brought ne the best of me of Happyness . I live now overseas
About September/October 1993, based on the 'Paper Moon' sign at 2:00 (postponed in October that year) and the Paul Simon advert right at the top, which promotes his compilation album released September 28th that year.
Awww the summer of 1993 was the first summer I lived in NYC. I lived in the Village on MacDougal St between Bleecker and Houston. Great times. I was 20 and in college. I then lived in NYC between 1995 and 2003. Find memories. Now I’m just another 48 year old guy with a family and mortgage! Time flies folks.
I think the '90s was the best decade for New York because crime rates started dropping by then, there were nicer looking taxi cabs (gotta love those Caprices!), and the twin towers were still there. Too bad I was born in '99.
0:34 I wish I had the chance to talk to this man in particular. I wonder what he had done when he was younger, what kind of stories he could tell and what lessons he had to pass down.
So beautiful and peaceful life!!! No one using a cell phone and people are very calm. This almost puts a (good) tear in my heart. WTC still there! *Such a peaceful scene!!!! Soo peaceful and simple!!*
High quality or high definition video recording technology has been around since the 1930's, the only thing is it was very expense and very rare until it's recent proliferation via smartphones.
3:00 the old WTC was my dream place to go I always saw these towers on TV but after these towers collapsed in 01' I will never go 12 Hours to NYC after that terrorist attack
I catch so many fun things in this video. The quality of this video is fresh as fuck. The music in the background fits to the video so well. Fucking *Robert De Niro*! #LMFAO 0:38 Rest In Peace, Twin Towers! 1:28 Much wow, drone like shit, from the 90s 2:07 Also, anyone who's wondering what song is playing, it's _Autumn In New York_ performed by *Kimiko Itoh*.
I don't think I've ever seen footage from the 90s with this much quality
very interesting, never knew that

I wish i can go back in time
But its still not a very good camera

@cosmyquesoul8995Me either.. I was born in November, 2003.. two years after that day..
Can I say how beautiful this is. I would have love to been born and living life during that decade.
Trudy-Ann Brown Now you make me feel old lol I was born in '94. I was in my mom's womb around the time this was filmed.
@@BadgerCheese94 i was born in jan 93. Great times im sure.
Best era to grow up. the 90s was so so special.

Now is dirty, smells Bad and always under repair.
This has an 80's tone but a 90's charm. This is some sharp video for 1993.
Wow really cool! I was born in the 90's, seemed like such a better world back then.
jokawur Crime was worse in NYC then than now... but the city was more authentic. It was more NEW YORK and less hipster.
disease rates were much higher and the internet was shitty
@@jmallinsonIt was the 90s. The internet obviously sucked
Has extremely high quality footage-puts the most goddamn 90s song behind it.

Same. These same questions run through my mind. I just love this footage. I love anything old school.

This was a beautiful time for sure. I was working in NYC at my first job post graduation.
No upscaling, no oversharpened images to make it look "HD". It's literally the native resolution.
For some reason NY in the 1990s seems like an amazing place to be.
Imagine if 4k or 8k was available at that time.

This seems so unreal, more like a remake of 90s footage.
I would love to see the camera! Must have been a pain in the ass to transfer all the data :D
So you trying to tell me the world back then had colors 🤔 not believing it buddy sorry

It was filmed in 1993
weird to think this video might be used in like 50-100 years to show future kids what new york was like in the 1990’s
