There is another good thing about closing the pivot holes and adjusting them with the broaching tool, the brass gets hardened by the dragging and pulling by the broaching and therefore works much better as a bushing 😊

Really enjoy your content Red👍. I just started the hobby about a year ago and appreciate the videos that I can learn from. I saw where you were in the chat on Kalle’s last live stream. I’ve learned so much from his disassembly videos and ones like this one. Happy new year

Ive been trying to service an Elgon that has a near identical movement to this.
What set of screwdrivers did you use for this? All of my screwdrivers slip...

It was a budget set back then, and I had to reshape tips all the time. Switched to bergeon shortly after, the nickel-plated brass ones. They are fantastic, have done many similar Elgins since then. Screw slot widths can vary quite a lot with different watchmakers.

Hello, if you wanted to source a new crystal for a pocket watch, where would you buy it? Thanks for any help and your videos.

I work with and collect mainly larger, open face pocket watches, and my preference is to keep the old mineral crystal, even if ther is cosmetic damage, if it is a thick crystal. I don't care for the thinner crystals, some are meant for hunters, since I've had one shatter while wearing. I have an assortment cabinet with mineral that I acquired some time back and haven't bought any recently. I have bought a plastic called sternkreuz from otto frei for smaller PWs. Might check with them for mineral crystals too.
