I think my most favorite dressphere has to be the additional Psychicker for the international version. The fact that they can learn 5 elemental eaters and can warp around the battle field for funsies is so fun. Plus, I love the japanese sailor school girl yankees aesthetic they went for the Psychic so much that it's an instant favorite. But if we talk original then it has to be Alchemist all the way. Once I got Mega-Potion stash, I never let her leave my party ever again.
Black Mage is also really good early game. Just focus on first getting only firaga, then go straight to the passive charge time reducing abilities. Black Mage becomes white fast and firaga is pretty op for as long as takes to master the black mage job. Core part of my team until that point.

The battle system is one of my favourites and the dresspheres were such a cool part of the game. I didnt have them all so its nice hearing about some of the classes i missed out on. One of my favorite combat systems that gets so little love. Mascot is my fav. Power and unique abilities are just so good, plus you look adorable in the costume.
I personally always loved trainer. It was my first “taste” of mascot considering all the girls were unique. I typically ran Yuna on Drk, Rikku on Alchemist and Paine on trainer (loved the bird (and how Paine was nice to it!) and the heal/haste ability she has) Special notes to Lady Luck too, the always critical ability hit really hard in my teams.
Back when I played X-2 on PS2, I definitely used the same five dresspheres. As for Gun Mage, my favorite blue bullet abilities were Supernova and Cry in the Night because they just looked so badass. I’ve been putting off starting a new game after getting the HD remaster on PS4 because I will have to start over from scratch. I’ve done so with FFX and glad I did but I keep finding alternative distractions and keep putting it off. One of these days, I will break down and tackle it and go for 100% platinum completion.
It is worth revisiting. And I understand the pain of not wanting to restart your save. I've done the lighting bolts and I feel like that was a once-in-my-life thing. Platinum is a HUGE undertaking though. May be one of the biggest and most challenging life milestones. Marriage? 😩 👎 Kids? 😩👎 FFX Platinum 😎👍
With Heady Perfume and the Tetra (the one that absorbs the 4 main elements), I typically go for alchemist and berserker. The accessories give HP/MP stroll and tetra eater. With the berserker's low magic defense, it heals for that much more, AND they still counter attack. With the evade and counter skill, there will be very little that can actually deal damage. Festivalist, lady luck and dark knight are close follow-ups for me.
@@MirandaLemons yup, though the magic eater only works for the four elemental damage types (fire, ice, etc). They'll still take damage on non-elemental, Holy, etc magic damage, but I find those types to be a little more rare. I use the alchemist primarily for free heals, fast item use and the mix ability. Both are worth maxing.
I’m not very far away from your choices actually. I’ve very recently completed FFX-2 100% (the very first time for myself!) and endgaming it, I was using Dark Knight, Alchemist and Lady Luck, reason being Attacking, Healing and Levelling quickly, till I managed to unlock Mascot. Berserker is a godsend of a dressphere for me, going through Via Purficio. I battled Chac unprepared but won first time, Yuna and Rikku were shattered, leaving Paine alone with Berserker, evade and countered the whole fight, berserked and hasted when needed, and I won!! 😍
Hiya! I just rolled credits and joined the FFX-2 club last month! Out of your top 5 dress spheres, I never found two! I never found Dark Knight or Mascot! :) Alchemist and Gun Mage definitely helped me on my walk up to the final boss. Though, for the final boss, I used the mega dress sphere that turned Yuna into a giant flower, paired with the 2-slot garment grid. As cool and overpowered as those were, those probably shouldn't count for top 5 with the rest of the normal spheres. Too powerful!
Welcome to the club! I've found myself not using the mega dresspheres almost ever. I wonder what others have to say on it. Also, Yuna's special dressphere is of the Hibiscus flower because Yuna means 'hibiscus' in Okinawan. She also wears the flower on her necklace.
In my party I largely had Yuna floating between being a dancer and being a gunner. Riku was usually switching between Thief Warrior and Alchemist but almost completely stuck as an alchemist once I got it. And pain kept floating between Gunner and death knight even though I loved her as a warrior, she was just too strong as a death knight wasn't the biggest fan of the outfit but man was it strong. I could never get the hang of the Gunslinger I had no guides or anything and I didn't want to risk looking up spoilers on how to do anything so I wound up discarding the Gunslinger early on and learning how many cool abilities you can get I feel guilty for that. Sadly with The Alchemist once I got it it felt like it made obsolete all the other Healers but boy did it get me through a lot of tough times. I will have to replay it because I didn't get a lot of the dress spheres. So i need to go back sometime and find all the things i missed. Ffx and x2 were games i played when i was really little but never got to finish so this last year was my first time finaly finiahing x and x2. I missed alot XD
Oh my gosh; it's worth playing again. The Gun Mage can be played without any game guides; you can still stumble across plenty of abilities in the wild.
That's interesting about the Gun Mage, I almost never used it. I liked the costume design for Yuna and Rikku so I'd switch to it occasionally just for the looks, but I didn't like waiting around for Blue Bullet abilities so I didn't use it much. Alchemist doesn't make my top 5 even though it's extremely good. I didn't care for how easy it makes the battles, and the appearance/design doesn't interest me. Same reasons for Mascot. 1. Songstress -- I like to darkness or silence right off the bat and just neutralize a whole group of enemies for the entire battle while the other two go to town. 2. Gunner -- Once you can deal 9999 damage (or better yet, break damage limit), combining that with Trigger Happy is just straight up mean. It's fun to see huge bosses brought to their knees while you pump them full of lead. Absent that, Trigger Happy is always fun to rack up a combo and then pounce with the other two. 3. Lady Luck -- Love throwing the 4 dice and racking up that combo. It's especially fun when you pile on with Trigger Happy! 4. Berserker -- Design is both cute and sultry, plus the abilities and auto-abilities are all a lot of fun. 5. Dark Knight -- Looks badass for all three and it's fun hitting everyone at once with Darkness. Honorable mention : Gun Mage. The design is so good. Plus I like doing Scan in strategic battles like certain boss fights.
You pretty much just read off my list and my reasons for it lol. The other dtess sheres where so overpowered they made the game too easy. I love the classics (white mage black mage, thief) and the songstress and gunner dress spheres. Stick a ribbon on and Dark knight isn't needed as much if at all. mp isnt rally that big of an issue if you use mp drain or eithers to recover your mp. I cant remember because its been years since i played x2 but i think the black mage had Osmose with drains MP from your enemies. I didnt like or use the dark knight for anything other than status immunities. Call me old fashioned but heros arent ment to use villain tactics. So the dark knight gets benched after i get a ribbon. I dont mind lady luck and mascot is cute but too overpowered, it makes a good tank but im not a huge fan of it. I love the songstress and gunner combo i love debuffing with songstress then going trigger happy with gunner 😆
On the original PS2 release, doing 4 Dice with Lady Luck and the other two doing Trigger Happy with Gunner, then going to town on that R1 button -- man the frames per second drop to the single digits! Damn slideshow. Poor thing lugs like an engine being filled with water. It's fun to do. 😀
I really do like the Gunner for their Trigger Happy ability, it really helps with Chains and slow units like Warriors and Black Mages really benefit from it. The Songstress is quite slow, but it is plenty handy when trying to grind by stopping enemies actions via Blind, Slience, Sleep or Stop
With the exception of certain boss battles I usually just use the Lady Luck dress spheres after gaining some neccessary skills from other spheres. High XP and always critical hits.

Most of these are my faves too, but one main target is the lady luck spere, which obviously I'll be using your guide and others to help beat. Glad to see FF10 still has great fans around :)
This was my first Final Fantasy game and for each girl I have 2 favorite jobs based on outfits. Yuna gets Black Mage and Songstress, Rikku gets Alchemist and Theif, and Paine gets Dark Knight and Berserker. I love Songstress because it's so versatile as a support unit. Give her a garment grid that teaches white magic and you have a healer who can also buff your stats. Matador's Song is Lowkey busted for the instant +10 levels of evasion and saves my ass against a lot of early physical attackers. But I also love the Gun Mage for similar reasons. How do you feel about the added dresspheres in the HD version?

The other amazing thing about Lady Luck is how fast her attacks are. Other melee attacks like berserker and especially psychic can take a bit of time to connect with the enemy. Lady Luck is instantaneous which si good for making combos.

I like all of these choices, very good picks. And nice mention of Lady Luck being an honorable mention, since that one is also pretty good. One more good one I like to use in certain fights is Black Mage with an Ultima + Speed Cast build. If you use Meggido Garment Grid and equip either Wring or Minerva's Plate to get the magic boost and faster casting, and use Black Mage on top of that, Ultima can be cast nearly instantly. Combine this with either Invincible for break damage limit, or Ragnarok for 0 MP cost, and suddenly the Black Mage becomes a killing machine lol.
@@MirandaLemons Not quite as effective for Gun Mage unfortunately, since there is no accessory or garment grid to boost Blue Bullet casting speed. I would probably just use an accessory to boost magic stat, and pair that with either Break Damage Limit, or 0 MP cost. Should still be able to do quite a bit of damage depending on the spell used.
Favorite Dresspheres: -Lady Luck -Psychic -Tamer -Berserker -Samurai Most of these are based on Aesthetics, but I find they can have some nice utility, especially if paired with Tomes to broaden usage.
Interesting that you picked Trainer, I usually write that one off as not very good because I tend to see other dresspheres doing the same thing but better. It was only when doing specific dressphere challenge runs where i started to see how useful Trainer's abilities could be.
Nice list. Number one surprised me, but I can see why you chose it. My underrated favorite is the Gunner. She is a necessity on every playthrough I do - Ragnarok + Scatterburst + First Strike makes most random encounters a first turn kill.
I'm only at the very beginning of chapter 2, but so far I'm loving psychic, gun mage, black mage, thief, and warrior. I know two of the default dresspheres are on this list, but I love stealing from all the bosses and I love having physical elemental attacks. Psychic is also really useful for getting blue bullets with brainstorm, and can tank a good amount with all 4 elemental eater skills
I love the berserker, but never use the berserk ability in boss/hard fights. I've been burned once or twice by the other two dying and not being able to heal... it hurts 😭. I typically use alchemist over white mage, because of the use of items for multiple party members. Im quite enjoying your video! Got a new subscriber 🥰
My picks are the same as yours except I didn't use berserker or lady luck much. Loved alchemist, dark knight, and gun mage. This just reminded me that I have not finished this game. I get so much anxiety trying to get the perfect ending, I think my save is literally a few hours away. RIP younger me who didn't know skipping a cutscene affects the % and saved before noticing lol.
The best thing about Berserker: It makes the Paragon Superboss fight look like a joke😂Just howl with all three girls, heal, throw a chocobo wing, cast berserk, and watch him die slowly while the evade&counter does its magic. My favorite has to be the Warrior. I love having bosses never getting a turn from the delay buster/Tetra master combo. Sentinel and assualt can also be very useful and its lacking defence can be easily balanced with Protect and accessories.
i did not know about the 4 times HP trick on Berserker, never even entered my head, can see that being absolutely monstrous. my usual team had 2 Dark Knights and 1 Alchemist, i never needed to worry about much, things died and i was able to keep myself alive easily enough. I might swap one of the girls to Berserker on my next playthough.
In the international version of the game/remastered version you can get the mascot by clearing the youth league battle cup! Doing it that way you can have mascot in chapter 1!
One of my favorite setups was Drk/Drk/Alchemist. Have the Alchemist learn the Mega-potion ability, and just throw out potions while your two DRK use endless Darkness

It's my first video and has no edits (which, the no edits was me bargaining with myself to rip off the bandaid and get my channel started). If you just pair up two coins for a coin echo, you can win most of the time. You can also coin echo 3 or 4 coins, but I find that's more challenging. 2 coins is pretty easy for everyone, and it's surprising that it works.
Nah she missed the thief with the catnip accessory if you want to talk about damage dealers lol can't beat catnip and there. Unless you're playing the original because before the remastered version you could use catnip with trigger happy ability for even more damage then a thief with cat nip.
top 1 for me: Gunner (experience from 20 years ago) Lore: Yuna goes from summoner to gunmaster. Serious character evolution. Yuna is now as flashy as Tidus was ^^. No more ceremonial magic rituals with requires sacrifice and time. Instant actions and cover allies. Battle: cat nip + gunner's trigger happy is top 1 dmg comb. Trigger happy also enable crazy combo chain to stack for R and P hit like a truck (specially with darkness from Dark Lord)
Currently on a second playthrough. I am keeping YRP low leveled, to complete the fiend tales. I get to have fun with YRP by using the Intrepid Grid Garment and spamming potions to get 3x the AP per turn. I would love as faster method to learning abilities faster. I have been having a blast in the Fiend Arena, but it seems to break the game with the candy bag amount of items you get from the tournaments.
My favorite dresspheres are Dark knight, lady luck, Gunner, full throttle( the only optional ultimate dressphere in the game because you get it for paine in ch1 macalania woods) and Trainer...
As for my fav dresspheres: Alchemist, Berserker, Dark Knight, Black Mage, Thief. Thief neeever leaves my party. Ever. I like stealing shit and extra Gil WAY too much. It's how I end up in Chapter 3 of the game totally loaded hehe...
You don’t need reels for Lady Luck….she get auto critical She also gets mama spring….I forget if it’s sos or not, but basically you no longer need to use mp. I prefer a magic and a Samaria accessory amity, and go to town

Im gonna have some biased for my #1 because I never found the dark knight on my first playthrough so mines is: 5. Lady Luck 4.Alchemist 3.Gun Mage 2.Gunner 1. Samurai (literally what helped me beat the Superboss from the original NA version release)
I would have to rate them as follows: 5- Songstress (So many party buffs) 4- Psychic 3- Dark Knight (Only above psychic due to damage output) 2- Mascot 1- Lady Luck (Instant win, if you know how to abuse the reels).
I like the dark knight a lot and you cant go wrong with black mage either combine these 2 and you got a force of strength and magic power if you got the accessories from O'aka XXIII at macalania and the item you get in Leblancs hideout I think songstress and white mage should be paired up as well atleast if you got someone with a lot of white mage spells on its own songstress isnt to great but i just love yuna/lennes outfit

I think this game has one of the best blue mages in the entire series, and really this is what khimari should have been given for blue magic. You forgot to mention heavens cataract which is an amazing aoe non elemental magic that ignore defense, that also inflicts two levels of breaks. Just incredibly powerful, and you can pick it up so easily in chapter 3 or so. Fire breath is also extremely powerful. Basically every major battle/boss fight I have two girls casting mighty guard and heavens cataract right from there start. I’m also getting to know the gunner class. It’s unfortunate many of the catnip/trigger happy strategies don’t work in the international edition. Would have been fun to cheese bosses with that. But actually trigger happy is really awesome, and the ignore defense attacks the gunner has could be extremely useful. The cool thing about trigger happy is you attack immediately and then have a long cool down instead of the king loading time for the attack like most other commands in this game. Dark knight is ok, they’re just very slow. Darkness is useful because it ignore defense. Since it’s also not seen as physical or Magic’s damage you can use it to attack annoying enemies immune to those things.
This is late but I used to think songstress was pretty bad but I used it against the OP boss in the desert. I didn't know that the songs attribute buffs stack and kinda stay on forever until I started trying it out but to beat that boss without many OP accessories I put Yuna and Paine in a "break damage limit GG" and made them wear the dark knight dressphere and I had Rikku be a songstress and buff their strength and toss healing items and the songstress strength buffs made both girls do like double damage which was really useful, and the mascot dresses are able to debuff stats of enemies but don't really have a way to buff your team so songstress still kinda has uses in the endgame especially with OP accessories to boost it's survivability. My favorite dresspheres though are probably gunner and lady luck even though they aren't really the strongest, I kinda hate how OP the mascot becomes to the point there isn't really a reason to play black mage or white mage but I liked those jobs a lot to and I liked using the theif to steal from every boss fight.
Songstress in the early game is amazing. Use it in the early boss fights with just blind. Once you get to sleep and stop songs it’s almost too powerful. Your other party members will just destroy them while they sit there.
I've never actually gotten the lady luck dress sphere the coin game has always gotten the best of me and I've been playing since ps2. But my favorite dress sphere definitely has to be psychic I mean it eventually gets fire,ice,water, thunder and gravity eater.
I love this! Gun Mage is definitely one of my favorites. The outfits are so cute and the blue bullet hunting is so much fun! I also love the Trainer! It’s just so quirky!
Gun Mage is absolutely a top pick for myself, though thinking about it, I think I would replace DK and Alc with Psychic and Trainer. Festivalist is a fun honorable mention too, since it's a good Dressphere to go to early game for damage dealing in the Creature Creator stuff.

Absolutely did the mega potion cheese lmfao You just CANT die I also only played the original PS2 version so note I have no idea about the new dresspheres in the re-release My top 5 aaarree.. 1) Alchemist for the infinite mega potions lol 2) Dark Knight. I would just cast berserk on her and then manage my party's status with the other 2 3) Trainer. I love the idea even if they arent too strong in game I just love the use of pets. 4) Berserker is so cool and really strong tho I will admit I felt a lil weird seeing them do all the poses and stuff in skimpy outfits. 5) Warrior exclusively cause Yuna uses the Brotherhood
I just started and I think I'm doing it wrong lol. I've got Paine as festivalist, Rikku switching between white and black mage, and gunner. My Yuna has been almost strictly warrior and I've been switching her to thief and songstress and recently have been having her go floral. Edit(And my festivalist Paine as has been a thief and white mage mostly when she isn't festivalist. Her and Yuna have been festivalist and Warrior most of the time though.)
Berserker with the catnip accessory lol or catnip is even better when equipped to a thief. The thief attacks twice instead of just once. For those who are unaware of what the catnip accessory does the main thing is it increases your damage to 9999 regardless of defense. It's fixed damage only a few monsters are immune (Aeshma and Protean Gel). Other than that, catnip is OP.
i think the best top5 are mascot, dark knight, lady luck, psychic and samurai. berseker is great too but low magic defense. if going by looks i like thief yuna, warrior rikku, gunner paine.
The Gun Mage is the best Mage. Beyond comparison. It has too many attacks that just ignore enemy defense stats. So, yeah. If you're going for completion aspects... You're going to have to level it. Also, utilizing Garment Grids requires more than just Mascot.
The Gun Mage was a my favorite too. I still never got the Dark Knight or Lady Luck dresspheres. Sphere Break is so hard for me. I could never beat Shinra and I can't remember why I could never get Dark Knight. I think it was in a hard to reach location in a dungeon or something.

Also heavily recommend persona 5 royal if you have not played it yet really the best rpg ive played so far and its like in the ff series each game stands on their own so no need to play any of the other games
my favorites are psychic, berserker, alchemist, lady luck, and dark knight (i think in that order) i don’t think for any real reason other than i like the way they play and look
At least for me, I’d remove Berzerker from top five, and add Gunner/ Warrior. Both are imo as good or better than the Berserker. Warrior has elemental Physical attacks, and deals great damage. Gunner uses range, so easy combos and has Aoe Physical that ignores defense. The only problem they have is bad Magic stats, but that can be fixed with accessories.

The standard game is easy, but there's fun extras like Via Infinito and Tournaments. I also found clearing out the Monster Arena for the Chocobo Ranch particularly challenging.

I personally always loved trainer. It was my first “taste” of mascot considering all the girls were unique. I typically ran Yuna on Drk, Rikku on Alchemist and Paine on trainer (loved the bird (and how Paine was nice to it!) and the heal/haste ability she has)
Special notes to Lady Luck too, the always critical ability hit really hard in my teams.
Trainer is SO similar to Mascot. I have a future video that I think you'd really like that speaks to the Trainer.

Back when I played X-2 on PS2, I definitely used the same five dresspheres. As for Gun Mage, my favorite blue bullet abilities were Supernova and Cry in the Night because they just looked so badass.
I’ve been putting off starting a new game after getting the HD remaster on PS4 because I will have to start over from scratch. I’ve done so with FFX and glad I did but I keep finding alternative distractions and keep putting it off. One of these days, I will break down and tackle it and go for 100% platinum completion.
It is worth revisiting. And I understand the pain of not wanting to restart your save. I've done the lighting bolts and I feel like that was a once-in-my-life thing.
Platinum is a HUGE undertaking though. May be one of the biggest and most challenging life milestones.

With Heady Perfume and the Tetra (the one that absorbs the 4 main elements), I typically go for alchemist and berserker. The accessories give HP/MP stroll and tetra eater. With the berserker's low magic defense, it heals for that much more, AND they still counter attack. With the evade and counter skill, there will be very little that can actually deal damage.
Festivalist, lady luck and dark knight are close follow-ups for me.

@@MirandaLemons yup, though the magic eater only works for the four elemental damage types (fire, ice, etc). They'll still take damage on non-elemental, Holy, etc magic damage, but I find those types to be a little more rare. I use the alchemist primarily for free heals, fast item use and the mix ability. Both are worth maxing.

I’m not very far away from your choices actually. I’ve very recently completed FFX-2 100% (the very first time for myself!) and endgaming it, I was using Dark Knight, Alchemist and Lady Luck, reason being Attacking, Healing and Levelling quickly, till I managed to unlock Mascot.
Berserker is a godsend of a dressphere for me, going through Via Purficio. I battled Chac unprepared but won first time, Yuna and Rikku were shattered, leaving Paine alone with Berserker, evade and countered the whole fight, berserked and hasted when needed, and I won!! 😍
I've had several instances where Paine in berserk mode saved me when everyone else was down. It's a rush, for sure. 😁
Hiya! I just rolled credits and joined the FFX-2 club last month! Out of your top 5 dress spheres, I never found two! I never found Dark Knight or Mascot! :) Alchemist and Gun Mage definitely helped me on my walk up to the final boss. Though, for the final boss, I used the mega dress sphere that turned Yuna into a giant flower, paired with the 2-slot garment grid. As cool and overpowered as those were, those probably shouldn't count for top 5 with the rest of the normal spheres. Too powerful!
Welcome to the club! I've found myself not using the mega dresspheres almost ever. I wonder what others have to say on it.
Also, Yuna's special dressphere is of the Hibiscus flower because Yuna means 'hibiscus' in Okinawan. She also wears the flower on her necklace.
In my party I largely had Yuna floating between being a dancer and being a gunner. Riku was usually switching between Thief Warrior and Alchemist but almost completely stuck as an alchemist once I got it. And pain kept floating between Gunner and death knight even though I loved her as a warrior, she was just too strong as a death knight wasn't the biggest fan of the outfit but man was it strong. I could never get the hang of the Gunslinger I had no guides or anything and I didn't want to risk looking up spoilers on how to do anything so I wound up discarding the Gunslinger early on and learning how many cool abilities you can get I feel guilty for that. Sadly with The Alchemist once I got it it felt like it made obsolete all the other Healers but boy did it get me through a lot of tough times. I will have to replay it because I didn't get a lot of the dress spheres. So i need to go back sometime and find all the things i missed. Ffx and x2 were games i played when i was really little but never got to finish so this last year was my first time finaly finiahing x and x2. I missed alot XD
Oh my gosh; it's worth playing again. The Gun Mage can be played without any game guides; you can still stumble across plenty of abilities in the wild.
That's interesting about the Gun Mage, I almost never used it. I liked the costume design for Yuna and Rikku so I'd switch to it occasionally just for the looks, but I didn't like waiting around for Blue Bullet abilities so I didn't use it much. Alchemist doesn't make my top 5 even though it's extremely good. I didn't care for how easy it makes the battles, and the appearance/design doesn't interest me. Same reasons for Mascot.
1. Songstress -- I like to darkness or silence right off the bat and just neutralize a whole group of enemies for the entire battle while the other two go to town.
2. Gunner -- Once you can deal 9999 damage (or better yet, break damage limit), combining that with Trigger Happy is just straight up mean. It's fun to see huge bosses brought to their knees while you pump them full of lead. Absent that, Trigger Happy is always fun to rack up a combo and then pounce with the other two.
3. Lady Luck -- Love throwing the 4 dice and racking up that combo. It's especially fun when you pile on with Trigger Happy!
4. Berserker -- Design is both cute and sultry, plus the abilities and auto-abilities are all a lot of fun.
5. Dark Knight -- Looks badass for all three and it's fun hitting everyone at once with Darkness.
Honorable mention : Gun Mage. The design is so good. Plus I like doing Scan in strategic battles like certain boss fights.
The trigger-happy tip is so cool. This sounds like a great setup.
You pretty much just read off my list and my reasons for it lol. The other dtess sheres where so overpowered they made the game too easy. I love the classics (white mage black mage, thief) and the songstress and gunner dress spheres. Stick a ribbon on and Dark knight isn't needed as much if at all. mp isnt rally that big of an issue if you use mp drain or eithers to recover your mp. I cant remember because its been years since i played x2 but i think the black mage had Osmose with drains MP from your enemies.
I didnt like or use the dark knight for anything other than status immunities. Call me old fashioned but heros arent ment to use villain tactics. So the dark knight gets benched after i get a ribbon. I dont mind lady luck and mascot is cute but too overpowered, it makes a good tank but im not a huge fan of it. I love the songstress and gunner combo i love debuffing with songstress then going trigger happy with gunner 😆
On the original PS2 release, doing 4 Dice with Lady Luck and the other two doing Trigger Happy with Gunner, then going to town on that R1 button -- man the frames per second drop to the single digits! Damn slideshow. Poor thing lugs like an engine being filled with water. It's fun to do. 😀

I really do like the Gunner for their Trigger Happy ability, it really helps with Chains and slow units like Warriors and Black Mages really benefit from it. The Songstress is quite slow, but it is plenty handy when trying to grind by stopping enemies actions via Blind, Slience, Sleep or Stop
Lots of shout outs to Trigger Happy and to chaining.
With the exception of certain boss battles I usually just use the Lady Luck dress spheres after gaining some neccessary skills from other spheres. High XP and always critical hits.

This was my first Final Fantasy game and for each girl I have 2 favorite jobs based on outfits. Yuna gets Black Mage and Songstress, Rikku gets Alchemist and Theif, and Paine gets Dark Knight and Berserker.
I love Songstress because it's so versatile as a support unit. Give her a garment grid that teaches white magic and you have a healer who can also buff your stats. Matador's Song is Lowkey busted for the instant +10 levels of evasion and saves my ass against a lot of early physical attackers. But I also love the Gun Mage for similar reasons.
How do you feel about the added dresspheres in the HD version?

The other amazing thing about Lady Luck is how fast her attacks are. Other melee attacks like berserker and especially psychic can take a bit of time to connect with the enemy. Lady Luck is instantaneous which si good for making combos.

I like all of these choices, very good picks. And nice mention of Lady Luck being an honorable mention, since that one is also pretty good. One more good one I like to use in certain fights is Black Mage with an Ultima + Speed Cast build. If you use Meggido Garment Grid and equip either Wring or Minerva's Plate to get the magic boost and faster casting, and use Black Mage on top of that, Ultima can be cast nearly instantly. Combine this with either Invincible for break damage limit, or Ragnarok for 0 MP cost, and suddenly the Black Mage becomes a killing machine lol.
Amazing! Do you think this combo could be used for the Gun Mage just as effectively?
@@MirandaLemons Not quite as effective for Gun Mage unfortunately, since there is no accessory or garment grid to boost Blue Bullet casting speed. I would probably just use an accessory to boost magic stat, and pair that with either Break Damage Limit, or 0 MP cost. Should still be able to do quite a bit of damage depending on the spell used.

Most of these are based on Aesthetics, but I find they can have some nice utility, especially if paired with Tomes to broaden usage.
Interesting that you picked Trainer, I usually write that one off as not very good because I tend to see other dresspheres doing the same thing but better. It was only when doing specific dressphere challenge runs where i started to see how useful Trainer's abilities could be.

Nice list. Number one surprised me, but I can see why you chose it. My underrated favorite is the Gunner. She is a necessity on every playthrough I do - Ragnarok + Scatterburst + First Strike makes most random encounters a first turn kill.

I'm only at the very beginning of chapter 2, but so far I'm loving psychic, gun mage, black mage, thief, and warrior. I know two of the default dresspheres are on this list, but I love stealing from all the bosses and I love having physical elemental attacks. Psychic is also really useful for getting blue bullets with brainstorm, and can tank a good amount with all 4 elemental eater skills

I love the berserker, but never use the berserk ability in boss/hard fights. I've been burned once or twice by the other two dying and not being able to heal... it hurts 😭. I typically use alchemist over white mage, because of the use of items for multiple party members.

My picks are the same as yours except I didn't use berserker or lady luck much. Loved alchemist, dark knight, and gun mage. This just reminded me that I have not finished this game. I get so much anxiety trying to get the perfect ending, I think my save is literally a few hours away. RIP younger me who didn't know skipping a cutscene affects the % and saved before noticing lol.

The best thing about Berserker: It makes the Paragon Superboss fight look like a joke😂Just howl with all three girls, heal, throw a chocobo wing, cast berserk, and watch him die slowly while the evade&counter does its magic.
My favorite has to be the Warrior. I love having bosses never getting a turn from the delay buster/Tetra master combo. Sentinel and assualt can also be very useful and its lacking defence can be easily balanced with Protect and accessories.
i did not know about the 4 times HP trick on Berserker, never even entered my head, can see that being absolutely monstrous.
my usual team had 2 Dark Knights and 1 Alchemist, i never needed to worry about much, things died and i was able to keep myself alive easily enough. I might swap one of the girls to Berserker on my next playthough.

In the international version of the game/remastered version you can get the mascot by clearing the youth league battle cup! Doing it that way you can have mascot in chapter 1!

One of my favorite setups was Drk/Drk/Alchemist. Have the Alchemist learn the Mega-potion ability, and just throw out potions while your two DRK use endless Darkness

@@nicolejudge5279 I have a video on a strategy to win Sphere Break. It's my first video and has no edits (which, the no edits was me bargaining with myself to rip off the bandaid and get my channel started).
If you just pair up two coins for a coin echo, you can win most of the time. You can also coin echo 3 or 4 coins, but I find that's more challenging. 2 coins is pretty easy for everyone, and it's surprising that it works.
I had trouble with sphere break until I went for a strategy of just flipping four coins every round. The echo bonuses will carry you easily.
Nah she missed the thief with the catnip accessory if you want to talk about damage dealers lol can't beat catnip and there. Unless you're playing the original because before the remastered version you could use catnip with trigger happy ability for even more damage then a thief with cat nip.
top 1 for me: Gunner (experience from 20 years ago)
Lore: Yuna goes from summoner to gunmaster. Serious character evolution. Yuna is now as flashy as Tidus was ^^. No more ceremonial magic rituals with requires sacrifice and time. Instant actions and cover allies.
Battle: cat nip + gunner's trigger happy is top 1 dmg comb. Trigger happy also enable crazy combo chain to stack for R and P hit like a truck (specially with darkness from Dark Lord)
Currently on a second playthrough. I am keeping YRP low leveled, to complete the fiend tales. I get to have fun with YRP by using the Intrepid Grid Garment and spamming potions to get 3x the AP per turn. I would love as faster method to learning abilities faster.
I have been having a blast in the Fiend Arena, but it seems to break the game with the candy bag amount of items you get from the tournaments.
I agree (as far as breaking the game goes). The Fiend Tales are great too. Thinking about streaming it.
My favorite dresspheres are Dark knight, lady luck, Gunner, full throttle( the only optional ultimate dressphere in the game because you get it for paine in ch1 macalania woods) and Trainer...

I like the dark knight a lot and you cant go wrong with black mage either combine these 2 and you got a force of strength and magic power if you got the accessories from O'aka XXIII at macalania and the item you get in Leblancs hideout
I think songstress and white mage should be paired up as well atleast if you got someone with a lot of white mage spells on its own songstress isnt to great but i just love yuna/lennes outfit

I think this game has one of the best blue mages in the entire series, and really this is what khimari should have been given for blue magic. You forgot to mention heavens cataract which is an amazing aoe non elemental magic that ignore defense, that also inflicts two levels of breaks. Just incredibly powerful, and you can pick it up so easily in chapter 3 or so. Fire breath is also extremely powerful. Basically every major battle/boss fight I have two girls casting mighty guard and heavens cataract right from there start.
I’m also getting to know the gunner class. It’s unfortunate many of the catnip/trigger happy strategies don’t work in the international edition. Would have been fun to cheese bosses with that. But actually trigger happy is really awesome, and the ignore defense attacks the gunner has could be extremely useful. The cool thing about trigger happy is you attack immediately and then have a long cool down instead of the king loading time for the attack like most other commands in this game.
Dark knight is ok, they’re just very slow. Darkness is useful because it ignore defense. Since it’s also not seen as physical or Magic’s damage you can use it to attack annoying enemies immune to those things.
So true. I rarely have any true criticisms of FFX, but if Kimahri was more like the Gun Mage, players may actually use him!

This is late but I used to think songstress was pretty bad but I used it against the OP boss in the desert. I didn't know that the songs attribute buffs stack and kinda stay on forever until I started trying it out but to beat that boss without many OP accessories I put Yuna and Paine in a "break damage limit GG" and made them wear the dark knight dressphere and I had Rikku be a songstress and buff their strength and toss healing items and the songstress strength buffs made both girls do like double damage which was really useful, and the mascot dresses are able to debuff stats of enemies but don't really have a way to buff your team so songstress still kinda has uses in the endgame especially with OP accessories to boost it's survivability. My favorite dresspheres though are probably gunner and lady luck even though they aren't really the strongest, I kinda hate how OP the mascot becomes to the point there isn't really a reason to play black mage or white mage but I liked those jobs a lot to and I liked using the theif to steal from every boss fight.
Songstress in the early game is amazing. Use it in the early boss fights with just blind. Once you get to sleep and stop songs it’s almost too powerful. Your other party members will just destroy them while they sit there.
So the Alchemist is a healer and a damage dealer...A Harmacist?

I've never actually gotten the lady luck dress sphere the coin game has always gotten the best of me and I've been playing since ps2. But my favorite dress sphere definitely has to be psychic I mean it eventually gets fire,ice,water, thunder and gravity eater.

Gun Mage is absolutely a top pick for myself, though thinking about it, I think I would replace DK and Alc with Psychic and Trainer. Festivalist is a fun honorable mention too, since it's a good Dressphere to go to early game for damage dealing in the Creature Creator stuff.

I also only played the original PS2 version so note I have no idea about the new dresspheres in the re-release
My top 5 aaarree..
1) Alchemist for the infinite mega potions lol
2) Dark Knight. I would just cast berserk on her and then manage my party's status with the other 2
3) Trainer. I love the idea even if they arent too strong in game I just love the use of pets.
4) Berserker is so cool and really strong tho I will admit I felt a lil weird seeing them do all the poses and stuff in skimpy outfits.
5) Warrior exclusively cause Yuna uses the Brotherhood
I love Yuna using the Brotherhood. It's one of those dresspheres I'd want to use for style alone.
I just started and I think I'm doing it wrong lol. I've got Paine as festivalist, Rikku switching between white and black mage, and gunner. My Yuna has been almost strictly warrior and I've been switching her to thief and songstress and recently have been having her go floral. Edit(And my festivalist Paine as has been a thief and white mage mostly when she isn't festivalist. Her and Yuna have been festivalist and Warrior most of the time though.)
Berserker with the catnip accessory lol or catnip is even better when equipped to a thief. The thief attacks twice instead of just once. For those who are unaware of what the catnip accessory does the main thing is it increases your damage to 9999 regardless of defense. It's fixed damage only a few monsters are immune (Aeshma and Protean Gel). Other than that, catnip is OP.
Some commenters had pointed out catnip with trigger happy.

Got a question. I normally use 2 DRK and a WHM when I beat the game. If using an Alchemist, won't you run through your items pretty fast?
No. The alchemist can have unlimited items through one of their abililites.

i think the best top5 are mascot, dark knight, lady luck, psychic and samurai. berseker is great too but low magic defense. if going by looks i like thief yuna, warrior rikku, gunner paine.

The Gun Mage is the best Mage. Beyond comparison. It has too many attacks that just ignore enemy defense stats. So, yeah. If you're going for completion aspects... You're going to have to level it. Also, utilizing Garment Grids requires more than just Mascot.

The Gun Mage was a my favorite too. I still never got the Dark Knight or Lady Luck dresspheres. Sphere Break is so hard for me. I could never beat Shinra and I can't remember why I could never get Dark Knight. I think it was in a hard to reach location in a dungeon or something.
I forgot. I don't think I ever got alchemist either. This game had so many easily skippable jobs.

I’m doing my first play through and just defeated Dark Yojimbo. I was sleeping on the alchemist. It would have made that fight soo much easier.

Also heavily recommend persona 5 royal if you have not played it yet really the best rpg ive played so far and its like in the ff series each game stands on their own so no need to play any of the other games
I LOVE Persona games and have played 3 through 5 (but not Royal). 4 is my personal favorite.
my favorites are psychic, berserker, alchemist, lady luck, and dark knight (i think in that order) i don’t think for any real reason other than i like the way they play and look

At least for me, I’d remove Berzerker from top five, and add Gunner/ Warrior. Both are imo as good or better than the Berserker. Warrior has elemental Physical attacks, and deals great damage. Gunner uses range, so easy combos and has Aoe Physical that ignores defense. The only problem they have is bad Magic stats, but that can be fixed with accessories.
Good choices. Gunner and Warrior are more hands-on.

This game was hilariously fun but also brain dead easy. You can beat the entire game pretty much playing any class just spamming auto attack.
The standard game is easy, but there's fun extras like Via Infinito and Tournaments. I also found clearing out the Monster Arena for the Chocobo Ranch particularly challenging.
