    Since 1846 Texas has basically been a democratic state with 37 democratic governors with a few republicans and independent governors sprinkled here and there.
    Ann Richard’s was the last democratic governor in 1990. Since the we have had 3 republican governors.Bush,Perry and Abbott.
    I remember Ann Richard’s as being a strong leader who wasn’t afraid of standing up for herself as well as standing up to the good old boys of the Republican Party.
    Although Ann is no longer with us…..Let’s make her proud ! Vote Blue across the board and when Abbott is up for reelection in 2026 …..let’s vote him OUT ! Sending love Libby , thank you for this reading.❤

    Oh, thank you for reading on Texas. I am in Fort Worth, Tx and I was just hoping for a read yesterday. I wanted to know if the rot in our state gov would finally come to an end. There are to many people who are democratic but seems they just do not go out and vote. Even my daughter says what's the use if its currupt. I'm just shocked. I will keep on working on her to get her to vote. Majority of my family here in Fort Worth vote blue. I just wished it was sooner than later, that Tx be blue. I am just so disgusted with Abbott, Cruz, and Paxton the most. I'm ready to leave Tx but maybe I will stay if finally things get better. ❤❤

      I lived in Fort Worth for 30 years. Moved back home to Lansing, MI 5 years ago. Didn't realize how much I had come to dislike Texas until I was back for awhile.

      I remember when the Affordable Cares Act (Obama Care then) was passed. It included expanded Medicaid. Governor Rick Perry said Texas didn't need expanded Medicaid. I had forgotten about it until I was back in Michigan, and surprise, I qualified for Medicaid. Huge help!!!

    My update on voter registration problems. I’m sharing as a way to help others 😊 I live in a traditionally red, non-swing state. I found a problem between my drivers license and my voting card near the end of June and got most of it straightened out. Dept. of Motor Vehicles sent me updated papers near the end of July. It’s been “in the mail” for over 22 days now and not delivered yet. I live 8 miles from the DMV office! That’s over 3 days per mile! 😮 #1 - give yourself PLENTY of time to get your records ready to be able to vote; #2 - Vote in person or take your mail-in ballot directly to the voting place to hand deliver, if possible (you will have to show your ID, so you can’t have someone else take it in for you). I’m hearing that some of the election interference is a slow down or “lost boxes” in the post office. Maybe my current slow down in mail is a dry run or setting up excuses for November

    • @maighstirtarot5385
      @maighstirtarot5385  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

I give you credit as the one who kept encouraging us to check, check, check. I have voted regularly for 55 years without problems, so it’s obvious that there are some shenanigans this year.

    I lived in Texas for almost 25 years. Your intuition is correct, Texas would already be blue if not for the gerrymandering. It used to be very easy to vote there, and then starting in the early 2000’s they kept adding extra requirements, moving polling places, purging active voters from the records. As a foreign resident, I still have to go through Texas to vote FPCA and it is required we reapply every year. They have purged me twice in the last four years, changed the spelling of my name, and denied my vote for the 2020 presidential election was received. I am thinking this year I will buy a ticket and fly back to the US to vote.

      That's the only way Republicans can win. They have no policies except to give more tax cuts to the billionaires and the corporations they own. That party is spiraling down the drain and Trump has pushed it further right in such a short time. We have to fight! Vote! Do whatever we need to do to get every MAGA Republican our of our congress.

    A large part of the problem, according to friends who live in Texas, is that the state makes it so difficult to vote, especially for Democrats and people of color. They use the typical voter suppression techniques to discourage voter registration, but also make it difficult to find out where to vote.

    • @Wynn-fr6oz
      @Wynn-fr6oz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think if they go to their registration page on Vote.Gov they can register to vote and if they voted by going to the polls on election day, they can see which district they live in and the address of where they vote. Or switch to mail- ballots where you can vote early and drop your mail-in ballot at the places close to where you live. Then you can track where your ballot reaches the destination. There is a tracking number or a barcode at the bottom of your return envelope that contains your information. Then follow the instructions on how to track your ballot. Good luck!!

    Texas's voting problem squarely lands on the heads of Texans. Less than half of the state is registered to vote. Of those registered only 14%- 23% turnout year after year. I met two Hispanic middle aged sisters native to San Antonio at a hot springs spa here in Colorado. Both owned their own businesses. Neither one had ever voted and neither of them knew who Ted Cruz even was 😶

      @@maighstirtarot5385 agreed 💯. Sadly I think Texas is challenged with voter suppression, education and poverty. When people are struggling one of the last things they're thinking about is voting and the GOP banks on that big time 😡

    • @Wynn-fr6oz
      @Wynn-fr6oz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @girlcheck And the Republican party are responsible for voting against raising the minimum wages, not enough money flowing into the education programs and their religion ideology to past regressive policies for decades. YES!! Abbott and Paxton have caused sooo much pain in their state with archaic abortion restrictions. The ones who are affected the most are married couples who just happened to find out that their pregnancy is non-viable. They were told that they needed to carry a non-viable fetus until they go into labor. These fetuses have a genetic mutation in both the mother's and father's genetics that fetus is growing their organs on the outside of their bodies. The pro- lifers are adamant that some miracle will happen if the couple doesn't abort. These fetuses usually die in the womb and the doctors expect women's bodies to just naturally go into labor. They don't understand that these women are having serious medical issues due to the non- viable fetus. One lady lost her reproductive organs and can't have any babies anymore. Women who miscarry are not being given the d&c procedure. The doctors don't want to give a script out for Mileprofen medication because the ignorance of these doctor's are so disgusting. They haven't been teaching abortion at all in medical schools so instead of giving this women a much d&c, they reluctantly gave her Mileprofen which causes severe hemorrhaging because it's the morning after bill. The couple went through this and the husband said he had to take his wife to several hospitals because of the strict abortion ban on that state. They had to find a pharmacy to fill the prescription. They had to go home and take the pills because the hospital sent them home. The wife literally passed out and was unconscious from losing so much blood. They had an 11 month old that the husband was taking care of and had to hurry and put the child in her car seat before wrapping his wife in a blanket to bring her to the hospital. After they loaded his wife on a gurney, a nurse told him that he brought his wife just in time. Her body was no longer pregnant so they gave her fluids because she was dehydrated and helped her get her strength back. The couple could not believe that they had to endure so much pain and for his wife to go unconscious before the hospital helped her get better. I cannot imagine having to go through that. During the third day of the DNC convention, the pro-life movement started blocking highways and airports so that no woman can leave the state to obtain an abortion. I pray and hope that no women will die under Texas's total abortion ban before they can get Abbott out of office in 2026.
