That idea would've sound cringe or like a cash grab for virtually every other band, but hearing GBV classics getting a hi-fi treatment with current line-up would be amazing!
It's a great re-recording, but it definitely changes the meaning of the song. Just listen to the end of the original vs the new version, it's haunted in the Bee Thousand version but almost triumphant here-- Somewhat representative of the stages of life Pollard may have been at when recording each version (a struggling fourth-grade teacher in the original, a successful rock musician now). The meaning of being "a scientist" has gone from a negative, depressing statement to a positive, uplifting one. Curious to see how this will affect the even more haunted and sad song, Tractor R*pe Chain!
@@ST-xg3gy that's my interpretation. "I know what's right, but I'm losing sight of the clues, of which I search and choose to abuse" doesn't exactly read as positive. It's a song of self-loathing, knowing that you're on a downwards spiral but continuing anyway.
Whats gunna happen when this arrives and then we notice the 7'' single doesnt have collage art? "It's alright with me"... I guess, but why? Whats gunna happen?!
Sorry but this version fucking sucks. I love GBV but what's the point of this song being recorded in hi-fi when Bob can't even sing anymore and the new guys can't even play their instruments. I respect that they're still trying to make music anyway.
it must be exhausting to have everyone rooting for you to drink for three decades straight...if you have an issue with his vocals, i'm willing to bet his BAC has nothing to do with it
The greatest American rock band
Damn straight
The world's greatest rock band
I concur
the pinnacle of originality within a genre
This is what the world needs right now!
You Are 120% CORRECT!☮️🤟🏿
In Bob we trust!
These guys should be on the $20 bill.
In Bob we trust.
Incredibly good. Maybe we need a sixteen track album of re-recorded lo-fi classics...because it's fun.
It would be amongst the greatest albums ever recorded
Wife's favorite song. See you in Richmond
Hard to believe it has been 30 years since I saw this on "120 Minutes."
Yes. I saw it on 120 Minutes when Henry Rollins was the guest host. I immediately had to buy Bee Thousand.
Probably the song that got me into GBV. Great rerecording
Sounds fresh, without sounding much different than the original. Well done! 🤘🏻
Finally seeing them live next week...
You’re gonna have such a blast.
See if Bob ist still drinking 2 bottles of Jim Beam in stage...guess not anymore as even he ist getting older 😂
I wish GBV would do a "best of" album that's all rerecordings like this with the current band. So great to hear these songs fresh.
that would be amazing!

Best song ever?
GBV FOREVER.

Hell fuckin yea
Bob has still got that Gellatin , Ice Cream, Plum.... It works that way...
This is insanely good
I'm happy to hear this song again
Woooo... wasn't expecting that opening blast 😳🤩😍
I'm a cranky old man, and this doesn't need to exist even though it's very good
What a good song
For so many years I thought he was singing, "I am a lost soul, I shoot myself with rocket holes..."
Question from The Professor: Are YOU amplified to rock?
The bottom end on this has some ooomph! Love it
Sounds AMAZING! Well done and hugely appreciated. Never discount the Pollard Industrial Complex!

Beautifully said!
The scientist was negative at first?🤷
Are they redoing the whole album?!

@@ioncewasmikey they're doing a single with rerecorded Tractor and Scientist, I already preordered
Fucking amazing.
Thanks again Bob.
For the dreams of brick-weed king we all sing!!!
GBV! GBV! GBV!
I am a lost soul
I shoot myself with rock and roll
One of the best lyrics of all time
The hole I dig is bottomless
But nothing else can set me free

Happy anniversary❤❤
And he's never ripped off fans with a "Retirement Tour".
Por favor, vengan a Argentina!
Dios te oiga 🙏
Pero que hagan escala en Mexico, primero.😁
Probablemente muera de la alegría si pasa.
Umm...everyone seems to be missing the boat here. If anything needed a re-record, it's Vampire on Titus. Make it so!
Happy to hear this! 😂😂😂❤❤
Was good, is good, some might even say it's alright.
The Future is in Eggs!!!!!

Yes
Works for me.
I am a lost soul, I shoot myself with rock and roll
I hope they redo this classic: th-cam.com/video/fk8H8VTWgFU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Y-nzdGQ7tn-PiJby
This song does not rok

Bob sounds sober and I'm not sure that's a good thing in this instance.
the voice sounds a little off but I guess it's common when it comes to aging still a great 30th anniversary.

@@38kob I really don't I just think it's sad
I love you Uncle Bob
