    A very important thing to consider when painting tracks is researching what the tracks are actually made of. For example, German WW2 tracks were made of magnesium heavy alloy which gave them a sort of orangish colour, which is why they often look rusty when seen at the museum. The only parts on a Tiger's tracks that would be shiny would be the track pins.

      I think Soviet tank tracks are made of something similar - those I've seen are a sort of dull bronze colour.

    Nice little tutorial, gave me a whole bunch of ideas to try on some of my small-scale tanks... Especially the use of the acrylic wash to adjust the the track´s base colour from a black primer is interesting. Doing something similar but with acrylic glazes on a dark grey primer might save myself a lot of inconveniences trying to mix a "track base colour" to airbrush on. As for the polished effects, I was irritated about them being added before earth and mud effects, but in hindsight it makes sense when wotking with acrylics, as one can easily remove pigment/oil/enamel-based layers covering the contact-surfaces to bring the polishing back up.
    Thank you for the vid and cheers from Germany 👍

    Perfect, quick and easy. I have an Elefant that I'm at the track stage, which I feel like I'm always weak at. I just wrote the steps on a flash card and hung in my hobby space.

    Terrific work. How would you change things for tracks with rubber blocks, like the Sherman?

    • @SpruesNBrews
      @SpruesNBrews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are a few different things you could do, but the main one would be to keep the bottoms of the track pads themselves as clean/black as possible. Hope that helps!

    If it were in Africa would you just use the desert dust pigment? Since its pretty much one color

    • @SpruesNBrews
      @SpruesNBrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that would get the job done! Maybe add a few darker spots for variation, but a desert dust sounds effective 👍

    GREAT Vid 'S&B'!!!
    I liked this video because of use of 'Metal' tank tracks. I plan on using "metal tracks" from a different company, but Using the same method....Thanks for showing the products you used!!
    But, CURIOUS, do you have a method of weathering vinyl tracks or for that matter those 'link-to-link' plastic tracks?!!?

    • @SpruesNBrews
      @SpruesNBrews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much! These techniques should work just fine for vinyl or link & length tracks as well - I've used them on both! 👍
