I can't relate, I have a CRT right now because of a borderline-impulsive Trinitron purchase I did some time after lockdown ended, and my first time ever playing the third Spyro game was about 12 months ago. Even though Spyro 2 was a big part of my upbringing I don't really reminisce on that, either. I think my ability to recall is too powerful for old media to hit me that way. I kind of just enjoy Playstation games in the present tense. I couldn't even beat the damn things as a kid... Out of time as it looks, a 2020s Playstation and heavy chunky TV setup beats emulating every time for me... or remasters, for that matter.
Bad news guys, my CRT broke down this year. I'm not willing to move my PS1 out of the cabinet to put it back on the flat TV, either... I have to get my Trinitron repaired. I still have never 100% beaten the first Crash Bandicoot game.
Fun fact: If you go to and leave the Skateboarding minigame after you save the mayor, you can head to the fountain to find a giant chicken, complete with dialouge
I feel so sorry for kids growing up nowadays. They will never experience anything quite like this. I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to play this during my childhood.
They did come out with the Spyro Reignited, but I always prefer the original from the PlayStation 1. The newer graphics doesn't have the same charm. The original music setting helps, but something still doesn't feel the same about it.

What’s amazing about all three games is that over 2 decades later, I’ll still complete the entire trilogy 100% or more (depending on the game) over and over and OVER. This is a perfect series. It’s replayable forever

If you're looking for a fast paced collectathon game with plenty of freedom, is easy to speedrun and has no fat, Spyro 1 is the best. If you're looking for a complete, challenging and varied game with tons of stuff to do, has a compelling story, and offers collectathon action at its polished peak, Spyro 3 is the best. Spyro 3 is my pick, one of my favourite games ever made. Spyro 1 I don't play as often and it does get monotonous after a while, but I still enjoy it for what it is and I can understand the preference for it. Some other comment: What about Spyro 2? Me: i prefer not to talk about that one.

@@gseric4721 Spyro 1 does require the player to explore and pay attention to find pretty much everything (I did look up some walkthroughs, though I did the same for the other two games), but some of Spyro 3's content, particularly the snowboard race, is absolutely brutal on a first try. I guess the extra variety kind of creates the illusion of challenge, so maybe Spyro 1 is the more consistently hard game overall. I'll need to replay both games.

I got Spyro Year of the Dragon as a birthday present in early 2002 and I still have it in my game collection.. I have it in my possession for over twenty years and it still does not bore me. Sunny Villa is such a cute level to play. One of my favourite levels in Spyro Year of the Dragon. And the music that has been made by Stewart Copeland gave me my interest in The Police, the former American-British rockband that Copeland was the drummer from. Spyro and Stewart Copeland is a great combination!
