- What is Build@Mercari?
Build@Mercari is an online training and internship program designed for individuals who may not have had access to opportunities in the past. It particularly targets women and members of the LGBT+ community, who are underrepresented minorities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and IT fields. Launched in 2019, the program will hold its 6th iteration in 2025.

The Build training program offers foundational knowledge essential for software engineering. Over two weeks, participants will work on individual tasks with support from engineers at the Mercari Group.

Participants will work in small teams to complete individual tasks while fostering mutual connections. Through the assignments, they will learn the basics of web application development, including:
‐How to use Git
‐Database fundamentals
‐Developing Web APIs using Python or Go
‐Frontend web development
‐Deploying services using Docker and Docker Compose
Participants will also have access to resources like Udemy courses and the "DevDojo" training videos for new graduate engineers at Mercari. These online video courses will help clarify any questions about the assignments and will remain accessible for one year after the training program ends.

‐Online Learning
From March 3 to March 14, 2025, participants will engage in online learning via Slack, collaborating on shared tasks through text and huddle sessions. Each task will be explained through lecture-style sessions.
‐Final Presentation
March 14, 2025, at 3:00 PM (JST)
Participants will present the outcomes of their learning during a final presentation session.
