I think you forgot the the part (How to Choose the Right Anchor for Your Boat) ?

Point taken. The answer is that it all depends on the boat, conditions, and type of bottom.

I agree, he should have at least mentioned which anchors work best for mud, sand, grass, rocks, etc. I'm trying to figure out what would be a good backup anchor for a 47 foot boat in the Florida keys.

Hi Lenny. You mentioned seizing the anchor pin with some wire. Can you do a video showing how this is done?

Great question, Mark! We do have a video available that covers this topic. th-cam.com/video/J3rh3bkW57w/w-d-xo.html And thanks for the reminder--I'll add a link to it in the video itself.

3:36 The answer to why you watched this. "Ask someone local" not wrong, but kinda makes the whole video pointless, or at least a misleading title.

Thanks for the feedback, Mike. We don't disagree, so we have changed the title to better reflect the content. Appreciate your input!

Agree with Dal. You forgot the part about how to choose the right anchor for your boat. We understand different bottoms may require different anchors for digging in effectively, but you never discussed all of the advantages and disadvantages of each anchor type (including Mantus anchors) nor did you discuss the proper size anchor for the weight of your boat. Just a bit too vague. Normally like your videos but this one was lacking in content.

Thanks for the feedback, and we agree with you. Unfortunately we cannot make general statements about which anchor is best for which bottom as there are too many variables to adequately cover all the possibilities. We do have a more in-depth series on anchors and anchoring planned for whenever we can get back to shooting safely. I'm hoping we'll have something in time for fall. Stay safe and be well.

People watch & listen to learn....you kept saying talk to an expert. Why didn't you make any recommendations?

Thanks, Corvette. That's a great question with a somewhat complicated answer. Basically, there are so many variables with anchoring -- boat, bottom, location, type of anchor, etc. -- that it's very difficult to give an answer that is absolute: use this anchor for this bottom, or that anchor for that bottom. Many anchors can work in a variety of situations, though some may perform better or not at all. I think the takeaway is that there's no one right answer for all situations, and for us to say unequivocally that one is better than another could be misleading and potentially dangerous. That's why we suggest talking to seasoned boaters in the area you boat in to ask what works for them. You'll get a much more nuanced answer than what we could offer. Hope this helps explain.

Yeah that was just about the most useless video

Thanks for your feedback and sorry to disappoint. Stay tuned for a series of (much better) anchoring videos, hopefully later this year.

Waist of time! Tell us what anchor works on each bottom.

Thanks for the feedback, Patrick. For a number of reasons, this certainly wasn't one of our best videos, and we're sorry we disappointed you. That said, we're working on an anchoring series (articles and videos) for next summer. Make sure to subscribe and hit the notification button.
