it may also depend from piano to piano. They make them deliberately sound different from piano to piano so each customer can choose the right sounding unit for them. And there may also be difference if it is made in Hamburg or if it is made in New York.
@@oysteinsoreide4323 It also depends on how well the piano has been broken in. A brand-new Steinway that is played on a regular basis will not sound exactly the same in a handful of years. Well-taken care of, it will blossom and allow an even greater range of expression and dynamics.
@@johnfpotega2017 I never noticed that difference, and didn't know that "Astoria Steinway" ever did (or could do) a high-gloss finish. I'll bet that's a VERY pricey option.

Surprised to see such small casters on a new Steinway B. The Hamburg models seem to have larger ones. Are you sure this is a new B? I thought the new NY Steinway models had rounded cheeks like the Hamburg ones. The hammers on this piano are soft so it gives a fairly subdued sound. I'd like this piano voiced more aggressively while maintaining the singing quality.
The size of casters may depend on the need of the customer. If it's going to be moved often, then larger casters is a must. But it's not so important if it's just going to be in one place.

There is a clarity of sound about this piano. I prefer the older Steinway models which have a mellow clarity of sound.

Steinways are good investments but you can’t beat a good M&H for sound and touch imho

Sounds like a Hamburg Steinway to me.. American Steinways have a much mellower sound in the upper register.
It’s an American one I think. The front corners are angular in shape. The typical Hamburg Steinways are rounded.

That’s the first thing I noticed. The casters look out of proportion with the size of the piano.
The hinged fall board shows it’s a model B. Very small sounding though. Doesn’t sound like a close relative of a model D.
Ben you may do this.........to suite you taste, however this sound is quite nice and preferred by most.... I agree on the castors.
