On my last 3 hardcover journals, I also cut the cover paper at the angle you demo on each of the corners. But last week, I watched a video where the crafter cut out squares (or rectangles) at each corner. When she folded the 3/4" edges over and glued to her inside cover, her corners were absolutely perfection. I am going to try her method next.
This is a great tutorial You make it look easy and the instructions are very clear My Porch Prints have many wonderful kits and have purchased quite a few Its hard for me to get the look as I am unable to buy lots of kits I guess I am interested in the actual look of the finished product that you make But as you have used a fair few kits i find it hard to make it Its a good tutorial all the same thank you Cheers 🇬🇸🌺🎈
I hear ya! It can be a bit nerve-wracking when you begin (and sometimes it looks worse before it looks better, I think) but it's a lot of fun once you get going. Best of luck on your project! 🤍 -Kyra
Not if you use our Hidden Spine template from our shop! You sew the pages to the template and then glue the template into the spine of the journal, so none of the sewing shows on the outside. Hope this helps!
Great tutorial! Beautiful pieces, and I too use Tea dyed Distress Ink. Question: Do you seal with a mod Podge or Gel medium to seal it? I’m always afraid to do that after making my cover, in case it gets ruined, somehow.
I don't because I prefer the mat finish to the glossier look of Mod Podge, but I have done it before and it will smear the distress ink, so just beware of that. But it does keep edges from lifting really well, so maybe do a test sometime on a smaller project and see if it's for you? Hope that helped! -Kyra
Hi Deb, thanks for watching! Yes, you could probably scan a photo of your work and reuse it if you wanted to. I'm not doing that with mine right now, but if you are looking for more collage papers to use on your cover, maybe some of these would interest you?: Garden Collage Sheet: www.etsy.com/listing/711521009 Ephemera Collage Sheets: www.etsy.com/listing/854437442 Shabby Masterboard: www.etsy.com/listing/1036231755 Shabby Stitches: www.etsy.com/listing/979501938 Rose Garden Collage Sheets: www.etsy.com/listing/706765270
@@myporchprints-junkjournalt5340 Thanks much! My thought was to get MORE BANG FOR MY BUCK, instead of just one-time use of all that collage work. Still, I love your printables, so will check out the links! Thanks, again.
Hello, I actually haven't done the inside yet. I've been playing with the idea of using past projects from the channel to put together a full journal, but we'll have to wait and see if I can find the time. Best! -Kyra
Absolutely stunning, Kyra! Blessings.....
Thank you for the tutorial. Made this so much easier for me. I don't have any scraps as I haven't done anything yet 😕 just watching to learn.
12:25 Tea Dye is my favorite distress oxide. I use it on most of my projects.
This turned out beautifully.

Would love more info on this method and where you saw it
It looks great! The softer shades and tones with pinky neutrals make me happy 😃 I was certainly inspired! Thank you for posting.
Of course! Glad you liked it. 🤍
Wonderful tutorial, thank you for sharing.😘
Wow ! Nice going - tfs 👵🏻🎨❤️🤗👍

Gosh what a beautiful kit! Collaging is out of my comfort zone (and tearing pretty paper 😂) but I think I’ll try this! Thanks for the video!

Oh no ! I couldn't tear up the papers.
No, I don't

So beautiful! Very inspired! I have a question…I guess when you bind the journal in, the string will show over the top of the designs on the edge?

Are you able to scan your collaged cover, so you can reuse your work? I loved watching the process -- learned that I use too much glue. Thanks much ~

Do u have a video on how you decorated the inside

You don't need to put any type of tape joining the spine to the front and back before you fold over the back side edges?

corners are too messy for me. Simple to make them tidy! push down the corner of the white paper before folding the other sides over the chipboard.
