The technology in building this 3 D model is amazing. Great work. Appreciate the effort you put into this so us non -divers can appreciate the history of these wrecks!

I've been a certified diver for two years and began diving wrecks in Lake Superior this past summer. It is hands down the coolest thing I've ever done. I'm hooked! I was only able to dive two wrecks this year. As you mentioned, it can take multiple dives to get all the shots, thus I did a total of 10 dives on the two wrecks, the Lucerne and Fedora in the Apostle Islands. I can't wait to get back in the water next year. Keep up the great work and sharing your passion.

I live on the South shore of Lake Erie. One of my hobbies is Great Lakes ships and shipwrecks. Your photogrammetry is incredible. Great video, thanks.

Great video - your work is always impressive! That photogrammetry really brings these wrecks alive for people who would not otherwise be available to see them. For divers It also really helps having that 3D view of a wreck for planning purposes,. For historical preservation photogrammetry is also hugely helpful - being able to observe changes in a wreck's condition over time aids preserving these amazing time capsules. Thanks so much for contributing to that valuable effort!
Is the shot at 2:22 from the Gunilda? That's an epic shot - it looks like any minute the crew could be in that space just walking around. Your lighting for these images is absolutely masterful!

This is amazing! How do you capture your photos? Are you running video or manually clicking the shutter each time? Gosh, even Capturing the entire ships sounds like a challenge task.

Thanks so much, I shoot all stills and use an interval timer. It took 3 dives and just over 5000 high res images for this model

Wonder if there’s any gold coins on the paddle wheel wreck?

I use a Light monkey 28lb single tank wing or a Halcyon Eclipse 40lb

I would like to test out some software with a test model before going out and trying to create my own dataset. Is there anywhere where I can access the raw data/photos for underwater photogrammetry?

I don't give away my work but you could just create your own images toside of an object. I started photogrammetry in my home during COVID lockdowns. I shot small data sets of things around my home to learn the software.

@@BeckyKaganSchott I currently work for an aerial photogrammetry software company and we are trying to see how it will work with underwater photos from a phone or a camera with geolocation. Going to the UP at the end of June so I will try it then. Love your videos!

Is there a way to do this affordability? There’s free apps for photogrammetry but I don’t think they work underwater
