The trick is aggression. A lot of TKD vs MT fights end in failure for the TKD guy because they get intimidated by MT's defense; they play it too safe until the MT guy figures them out and capitalizes on the lack of close range defense. However, in this fight the TKD guy didn't give him a chance for any of that shit; he was aggressive and used his style's reach advantage to fake him out and fuck him up. Offense is the best defense. Ultimately the winner of the battle is decided by the practitioner more than the style. That being said TKD on its own is not sufficient, the fighter needs an understanding of other styles to be more complete.
Andy Hug. Kyoku-Shin became Seido-Kai-Kan on account of him and Francisco Filho. 2nd Dan black belt in Hworang TKD as well and multiple awards, titles and highest honors in Muay Thai. Lacks height - blows them away with physique and technique. no reach - makes up for lack of kinetic force through raw muscle power. Had them all looking funny for a while, then he died of leukemia. I, for one, have him down as the best kickboxer that ever lived, Ernesto Hoost in close second. And you're absolutely right: when you go on the offence as completely and aggressively as that, if the other guy can't counter from similar distance (and with similar techniques) you will pretty much get bombarded out of contention. Tall TKD fighters are LETHAL. A bit of common kickboxing cynnisism and yoy get something like Remmy Bonjasky. OR Mirko Cro Cop - another bodybuilder with a massive kicking repertoire. NO counter from close range can carry as much momentum as this dude is showing here: he's basically taking aim irrespective of his opponent's stance and position and he's gauged the distance so correctly that he's unstoppable and untouchable simultaneously and he's got the other guy running but unable to escape. Sci-Fi level kickboxing here, superhuman video game antics. Great to watch.
Yes. MT fighters (mostly traditional) are slow starters and usually do not become aggressive till later rounds once they figured out their opponents rhythm and movements. Well researched, i agree with you here.

I wouldnt say there is a single "best" martial art. However, there are a few that are known to be some of the best and known to work the best in an actual bout compared to others. Like i said, some martial arts do have superior/useful moves compared to others. I took TKD when i lived in Korea, other than a couple things, the rest was almost useless. nunca tenes que bajar la guardia.
oh and by the way isn't kwonkicker the tkd guy who beat a bigger and stronger mt guy?
I miss the good ol days of respect
@4pf Sosa for not being effective enough on its own
ㅎㅎ 네, but i was born in Spain though currently living in Florida so eventhough i am korean im americanized in a way haha. Im going to Korea tomorrow though :D !
Oh i'm wise enough to listen to the wise guy of youtube.
u can't rly say which style is MORE professional cuz well they're two different styles of martial arts. both are equally real and professional in their own ways.
Yes, yes, we all know Thai boxers are all invincible, even if they are only 5 years old. Anything else?
I wouldnt say there is a single "best" martial art. However, there are a few that are known to be some of the best and known to work the best in an actual bout compared to others. Like i said, some martial arts do have superior/useful moves compared to others. I took TKD when i lived in Korea, other than a couple things, the rest was almost useless. Id say the "proof" is that u never see certain arts go far in places such as k-1 or MMA. unless they modify there art a lot.
You need to not get angry at the children. They don't know what is better. Go on in the embrace of life and see a better future.
Ignore the ignorant children and be at peace.
people here act like Muay thai practioneers are invincible
not about the style..its about the person uses......
People commenting it's not Buakaw, I would like to say that it's not Raymond Daniels(Tkd) or Yetkin Ozkul(Tkd).
MT was completely owned there.
Bravo mr.Taekwon-do.
hard to argue that. but maybe there is some one really good at tkd? i haven't found that fighter yet but maybe
If that kick to the face of the TKD fighter would of been a Muay Thai kick, he would be asleep.
Very good fight, but muay thai is a good fighter too :) have alot videos that taekwondo is the won, and alot videos that muay thai is the won
Teag, yeah,he is good at English and good eyes.
I find it funny that directly after ganjislammer disappears, Chai pops up leaving as many comments as his other account did.
Even a normal person can brake a leg if he kicks it correctly.
excuse me!The tittle said about style not fighter. Both were upstart-TKD vs upstart-kyutooki on 2006.Search it up fellow.Bahaha
