    That sight at 5:38 is one of most beautiful birds ever, I am always thrilled to see the gorgeous B-52 Stratofortress with that enormous wingspan! And the smoke trails as she lifts all that weight into the sky! And the huge "Herc" -- what a magnificent aircraft!

    Many years ago, during a past century, I spent many a cold day and night as a firefighter driving around the alert pad in my ramp truck (basically a truck mounted dry chemical and halon fire extinguisher). During ORIs and other alert exercises, I would drive to each aircraft to let the sky cop posted on each aircraft to have a few minutes to warm up. It wasn’t much, but I did make a few friends along the way.
    I miss those days, but not the cold.

    It is a great thing that American fighters are now actively training in Sweden. The country is not yet a member of NATO, but will be soon, and with that the entire Nordic region (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark including Greenland and the Faroe Islands) is part of NATO. An area of just over 6 million km2 or approx. 60% of the entire US area including Alaska.

    There must be a faster way instead of shoveling. Unless, shoveling is considered military exercise....
    Very cool experience for the kids.

    Seeing the control panel for the B-52, one wonders why many of the dials and gauges have not been upgraded to digital rather than old analog.

    • @sjp35productions6
      @sjp35productions6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Upgrade cost is one reason. You’d have to re-design the entire flight deck as well as replacing and upgrading the sensors, wiring, avionics, flight controls and so on. Then, you need to re-train the aircrews to operate in the new environment.

    The nickname Viper is not the legal name of the F-16. The Falcon is. I worked them for 9 years and never heard the Viper name until just a few years ago.

    • @SoggySoxSaga
      @SoggySoxSaga ปีที่แล้ว

      The crews will call them what they want. They don’t care what name the manufacturer gave them. I worked C-5s and we called them Freds not Galaxies. B-1 s are Bones. B-52 is the Buff. I doubt you worked up close with the pilots or you would know the F-16 is the Viper.

    An afterburner during takeoff doesn’t remove ice or snow from the aircraft.

    Imagine how Sweden cope with their airforce. It’s nothing new. It’s just like taking your car out spraying it with de-icer. The engine and a planes engine is internal. Nothing moves outside other than control surfaces - which if needed get de iced
