i assume this is obvious but just incase it isn't, this video is sort of a followup to this one: th-cam.com/video/zY-1_-KZ5j0/w-d-xo.html the second half is, at the very least. probably go watch that one first for it to make sense. have a good one! :>
I think the reason why some militia pilots have the monarch titan is because militia actually steals titans from the imc, and because the vanguard titans is the most complex titan at the time, it is probably the most expensive titan to produce. not every pilot would afford the vanguard titan.
There are several factions that play for both sides, as seen in the campaign. the 6-4 for example is a mercenary group, but they just like working for the militia. Just because it's fighting IMC titans doesn't mean it's a Militia Vanguard. It's just a pilot using a monarch titan to aid the militia grunts. (believe me, we don't want to see a Vanguard titan get destroyed. Having it be monarch makes much more sense.)
I had known about her pilot trainig a friend of mine told me he head about it i just half beilieved him and told him she still ended up a grunt and they didn;t mention that training anywhere so to me that animation is still a massive L. Also if they would have lost to a Pilot it would have been a much more interesting and compeling animation would have advertised those legends to me way more , 'Bangalore and NewCastle fought a Pilot and survived they're pretty cool i'll give them shot' it's much cooler and more unique these days to have someone lose and not give up then just be entitled to win like everyone thinks they are.
Conduit didn’t get her powers from the batteries. She simply got radiation poisoning. She used titan parts for her gadgets which are her abilities. I see how you guys got confused though.
Watching one of the legends get punched in the face by a reaper in the Kill Code 3 cinematic and just sit himself back up like nothing happened tells me everything I need to know about how much they care about consistency. They want this giant, lethal robot to be some sort of intimidating challenge yet it's about as dangerous as a Scooby-Doo villain.
I have never heard of this before but that is such BS of them, if a Reaper punches you you are dead. Its been a while but if I remember the reapers intro stage it was hyped as something Terrifying and well it IS or should be
A reaper should have been able to kill one of them, critically wound two of them and slightly wound the other, cuz a reaper can almost one shot a pilot
@@claytonpatterson3424several of the titans reach around to their lower back to reach their weapons, and in the case of the Vanguard/Monarch, they have small manipulator arms with only one real axis of rotation.
The thing that bothers me the most is you CAN make a titans battery go nuclear, but that completely evaporates the battery and titan. Also with how this worked this implies just cracking one of these batteries open like you're shotgunning a beer causes it to detonate?? This means literally a minor work place accident could become the death of hundreds of people and also makes me wonder why no one is using the incredibly mass-produced batteries as make shift nukes because the Milita could certainly use that to help with the whole fighting the space fascist
Prob bc batteries are expensive, so when it comes to bombs they would not dare waste it and instead use it for titans or it could be tech advancement. Like how in the gridiron animation from apex the pilot jetpack seems to work alot better then tf2 ones with how they flew in the air
The batteries are based off atomic batteries, which are mostly safe. I'd imagine in the future they'd be even safer since they are inside warmachines. Detonation only occurs when the nuclear reactor is overloaded or is leaking. The battery keeps it fuel stable, so just crushing it should not result in an explosion.
My first reaction to the "For us" cinematic was to just laugh from confusion. "Oh my sister got injured in something, Lemme just got get stage 7 turbo cancer that should fix the problem."
Half of the OG Titanfall devs followed Drew over to Gravity Well Studios when he and Jon Shiring started it. I really look forward to their first game.
I get why you call them nitpicks, but I'm gonna be real. These would only be nitpicks if it was a fanfiction. These are official animations, it is quite literally some people's jobs to know this stuff. And seeing people vastly underperform with their own IP is not a nitpick in my eyes
I don't know what's going on internally at Respawn, but the impression I get is that the Apex team are really unfamiliar with most aspects of Titanfall. They don't seem to know things that most fans of Titanfall would. This means that even when they're trying to make Titanfall fanservice it falls short. They didn't include Ions using anything other than laser core, no splitter rifle, no energy shot and no tripwire, even though those abilities would have served them extremely well. It shows not only a lack of care for the established abilities of these Titans, but also a lack of ambition in the choreography of the fight too. Making the lone Titan a Monarch is a bizarre decision when Monarch is the bargain-bin version of a Vanguard; having a face-off with 7 ions and stalemating is something a Vanguard could definitely do, but a Monarch would get creamed by maybe two unless it had arc-rounds. Of course, you could weave that in, with the Monarch struggling to take down the first Ion or two, then get a leg up with a first-level upgrade core into arc-rounds, but then gradually get whittled down by the remaining Ions until it is forced to nuke-eject. I might also have replaced a couple of Ions with some other titans, like Legion and Tone, both of whom are used en-masse by the IMC, unlike Northstar, Ronin and Scorch. You could even make it so this is the Vanguard class that got reverse-engineered, it was nicknamed Monarch which is how the IMC named their knockoff, but you'd have to have it get carted off by the IMC and not left to rot. Maybe Conduit steals the battery before the IMC salvage teams get there, and keeps it both as a memento and to tinker with. But the way Respawn handled this animation and the backstory of the legend just feels incompetent, and a lot of Apex stuff feels tonally opposite to Titanfall. Titanfall does not have people develop superpowers when exposed to broken Titan batteries, it has them develop cancer. Stim, Phase, Pulse, Grapple, A-Wall, Cloak and Holo are abilities granted by technology. Pilots are not "chosen ones", with magic abilities that defy explanation. They are extremely well trained, well equipped troops who are otherwise normal people, but capable of terrifying feats on the battlefield due to aforementioned training and equipment.
@@EmpReb i was under the impression most of them went on to gravity well and wildlight, i haven't heard about any going to infinity ward. i don't know why they would want to go BACK to working with activision after all the shit they've gone through.
If it makes you feel better, it seems she actually might have cancer from the batteries if you look at the new trailer At one point she looked at her vitals and it was not great. They are at least acknowledging how dumb it is how she got her powers but that does not make up enough for the other titanfall related issues
Everytime RESPAWN attempts to inject more Titanfall into their Apex lore videos, it's like witnessing a perfectly made beef wellington being crammed into a blender by a head chef as they lock eyes with you the entire time... I appreciate the effort they make to get that beef wellington on stage, it's what they do with just baffles me 🗿
I’m worried about a TF3 now solely because I’m worried we’ll be getting magical pilots with quirky personalities and quirky titans. This animation was so tone deaf to the fans and unless they’re about to drop a gritty and thematic Titanfall 3, then well shoot…
Yeeeaah, the gritty and war-torn nature of the Titanfall games really doesn’t mesh well with how whimsical and light hearted Apex Legends is (albeit TF2 wasn’t as gritty as TF1to a degree)
Like, they could have literally put a 2 second Scryer POV with huge red text saying “Blue on Blue prevented” and showing the pistol actively bending the bullet path into the ground.
Did I know Bangalore had pilot training? No, I didn’t. This came out of nowhere. I think me and many other people thought she was just a grunt for years. This also might make her, as well as Ash, one of the *few* people on the Apex games with pilot training, which just makes the lore power scale even more wacky, as it makes me wonder how people that have pilot training not just curbstomp every other participant in the Apex Games?
@@ceral1871She basically a robot at this point, unless she had her memory card degrade over the decades, she can’t forget her literal centuries of experience.
Are you telling me that in an universe with giant mechs and mechanized infantry, they couldn't just send a radiation shielded robot to clean up the broken up battery?
It also implies that rodeoing titans is a bad idea because they can just extend their arms to their backs and grab the annoying fucker. But I don't think that's the case in neither the lore nor the gameplay.
@@prismmaster2548but BT’s batteries are under his left arm, not on his head, making it a little easier as opposed to other Titans having the battery on top of them
@@unknownnametag6595I think BT has 7 batteries, 3 under each arm, and the one on top has been armored over, as seen with the orange cap on it in the campaign. I mean it stands to reason that all titans have more than just one battery to count for all the auxiliary systems they have.
Titans can actually grab infantry rodeoing them. But I'd believe the battery would be harder to reach as the only thing the titans large hands could grab would be a pilot sized handle.
I knew that Bangalore had some pilot training, but not that she's a fully fledged pilot. I think that in lore, Bangalore and Newcastle were training to become pilots but were unable to finish said training. Whether that be from being deployed to fight the militia thus cutting their training short or them just being in the 98% of people who failed the pilot training.
@@CheeseSoup what's to say that any of the legends don't have augments? I mean, fuse has a prosthetic arm that can lift Gibby (finisher). So it's reasonable to say that bang (or more likely Newcastle) also has augments. And if simulacrums are op, then Rev and ash are probably only powerful in lore. While gameplay is again, different, in order for it to be fair.
This is probably the only channel I've seen on youtube that's gone into a deep dive on titanfalls lore while critiquing apex and it's way of jangling keys in front of titanfall fans going like hey you see the reference that's a cool reference right? Now buy more skins for this [insert event/season]
Big problem with their logic is that by and large, Titanfall fans don't really give a shit about Apex. Are there people who play both? Absolutely. But the wider community, for the most part, see this as cheap "fanservice" just to try and sway the remaining Titanfall players over to their main cash cow. If by Friday/Saturday (the 7th anniversary of Titanfall 2), all those weeks (and even just today) of those server updates, LTMs, and cryptic messaging culminated in just an Apex update, you're gonna have a bunch of VERY pissed off Titanfall players. They are incredibly rabid folk.
@@ItsSerranoHD Yet even people who play both (me) fucking despise APEX, I spend 90% of the time on that game complaining about how stupid shit is lore wise and just try and convince my friends to buy Titanfall 2 already and play that instead. I don't think a single self respecting Titanfall player would spend money on APEX. That's just dumb.
The lore of apex feels like a edgy teen on amino making a 4 page documentary about their wolf Pilot being a Demi god, contradicting their own plot line 5 times over.
Its just really apparent that Apex devs don't actually respect the source material at all which is why I've told many people I wouldn't even want a Titanfall 3. They haven't even been clear about this whole "ARG" thing they've been pulling in Titanfall 2 either nor why they've decided now to fix titanfall and then gaslight the community into thinking a sequel will come out.
Ive been brainstorming a theory that those are not IMC ions but acutally Remnant Fleet titans hence the use of guns(XO-16?) over the ions splitter rifle, and why a monarch is dropped in, its IMC defending itself from the remnant fleet. PS before yall say Remnant fleet/Spyglass is IMC it has been stated that the Remnant fleet sometimes attacks IMC territory and has been declared a rouge element by General Marder(ARES÷) which is the real IMC faction
One way they can explain how Conduit got her powers, is to have her get caught in the blast radius and have the pilot, who ejected, give her a heal stim like Lastamosa gave Cooper and try to draw the remaining attackers away from Conduit who is knocked out from the heal stim. Then say the heal stim and radiation from the blast had a reaction that gave her powers.
to play devil's advocate, It's been stated by i do believe a creative director of titanfall that since true vanguards were very expensive to produce, the militia were known to purchase monarchs as auxiliary. most of the rest of your points were spot on though.
I always viewed the beginning fight to be a very inaccurate and embellished story from Conduits POV, to her a hero fell from the sky when she was a child and saved them all, which sounds rather fantastical though I don't doubt the events did happen in about the similar way.
@@Rescued_Pw52mah bro this defintly makes sense...that your fine for how long she was for after touching a battery that consistantly is in a titan that can explode with the power of a small nuke

"WOWWIEE LOOKIE LOOKIE ITS TITANFALL GUYS ITS THE THING, THE- YKNOW THE TITAN. And people that are just huffin mad copium for TF3 is kind of a sad sight, while I enjoy TF2 and was really hoping for TF3, I am sure for a long while now that it will not happen, true I really wish I will be proven wrong, but damn, I'd say just let it go, at least don't look *into* stuff that much since if I'm not mistaken most if not all of the Titanfall devs has left Respawn anyways.
The biggest part of this for me is that, like they said, this is all so easy to write out of. Just giving a little more information can patch up the inconsistency. The questions are left to the audience, but as a chore, not a challenge.
A couple issues with your points: - Conduit's powers are not necessarily from the radiation. I don't think it's a great idea to simply assume her powers stem from her radiation, because she very well could just have developed radiation poisoning. Her kit seems to be heavily tech based, with her description pointing to the fact that the radiation from the battery IS slowly killing her. Her kit seems to be titan battery-powered, and appears to have some support applications. This makes sense as if she had to develop technology to suppress the spread of her super-giga-cancer she got from the radiation, she could also use it to protect/heal others. - You make the point of why salvagers don't go for the titan, but it is an irradiated land there, and IMC salvagers would probably not be on a planet that isn't IMC controlled. Even then, Conduit goes there because she's trying to find something to salvage and sell. This is evidenced by how Conduit's sister is not only injured, but their family has significant financial issues, as evidenced by the vast array of overdue bills. Conduit's "I have to do something" is likely her feeling the need to provide for her family. Her sister being injured isn't the sole cause, it's her sister having to constantly be in danger to feed their family that drives her. Her sister is wearing what appears to be a military uniform of some kind, though I'm unsure. Around 1:50 in the video, you can see that her sister frowns after looking away from Conduit, indicating that she might be saying some sort of goodbye. If she got hurt during fighting while trying to provide for her family, Conduit would probably feel guilty. Being a legend pays well, and the description explicitly states that "Conduit trades her own future for the opportunity to become an Apex Legend and provide for her family." As to why she goes to the battery... I have no idea. That was pretty weird. - The fight with the monarch and Ion titans having some odd inconsistencies might be attributed to how her as a child wouldn't have perfectly accurate memories of what had happened. Even then, the Monarch's jump was pretty massive and might've gone farther than it looked. Though they had lasers, that doesn't actually mean they have the entire Ion kit. The Brute kit in the campaign had flight core and a VTOL hover system, but also tracking rockets and a vortex shield. The IMC titans might have just not been the same Ion we're used to, using a ballistics based gun and no vortex shield. This could also explain the airtime they get, as they divert all their power to powering their lasers and their flight instead of other tools. This one is a bit shaky though, and somehow I don't think they necessarily thought it through this much. - Monarch fighting for the militia is also pretty possible, as plenty of mercenaries also work for the Militia(the 6-4, the Last Resort), and even the Militia might want to buy cheaper titans that still function similarly to Vanguards. Additionally, mercenary groups can also not take jobs that pay more for moral reasons. Blisk and his mercs certainly do, but that doesn't mean mercenary groups can't also take lower-paying jobs that align more with their goals. Mainly, though, non-Vanguards are way cheaper and easier to mass-produce, and are likely what a lot of Militia pilots that didn't have a Vanguard used. It's repeatedly remarked on that having a Vanguard-class was a pretty rare thing. - The battery turning the area into a wasteland could very much just be a malfunction of the nuclear eject system, resulting in the pilot resorting to crushing the battery instead. Nuclear eject is reliable in-game as an anti-frustration feature, but is pretty obviously established in canon as an unreliable and dangerous ejecting system. If you let Richter trigger his nuclear ejection, he gets trapped in his titan as it blows up, killing him. This isn't the same as what the Monarch did, but if the nuclear eject became impossible, the pilot likely resorted to triggering an explosion by cracking the battery open. I genuinely can't comprehend how people don't think a titan's power system can do this, given that BT's reactor core destabilized the Ark enough to BLOW UP A PLANET. Additionally, the criticism of the batteries being so dangerous is odd, given that batteries in the campaign are almost always exclusively either in other titans or in sealed, protected boxes. BT holds the Ark inside of his chassis, so it's really not far-fetched to assume that titans are built to contain a LOT of energy. On the James MacAllan, there's a prominent visual of the helmet scanning for batteries and marking several as unviable. Though this may just be because there aren't viable routes to those batteries, I highly doubt a helmet could calculate that without knowing the terrain. Instead, it likely indicates which batteries HAVE undergone a meltdown, or are too close to other batteries that have broken down to be accessible. As you show in the video, the batteries are pretty well secured inside their containers, and even then it seems that many of them still broke and became unviable. Causing an explosion like the one in the video likely requires much more force, though, and the titan absolutely SQUASHES that battery. - The conclusion that the battery must be lethal in close proximity because people didn't move it is not really fair, because even though the battery was the source of the radiation, removing it at that point wouldn't remove the radiation itself, and so they just zoned the entire area off to prevent people from entering and getting cancer. A person might not instantly die from touching the battery, but there would probably be significant long-term health issues. - Bangalore being a pilot in training was unknown to me, but it was established that she was the top of her class as a grunt, which does mean that she would be a decently competent fighter, and significantly above a regular grunt. If master mode has taught me anything, it's that grunts can be pretty dangerous even alone, so an above average one would be pretty difficult. Two would be worse, especially for a cocky pilot who doesn't realize the danger. Though I did disagree with some points in the video, I do agree that Respawn does seem to be pretty ignorant of Titanfall canon. The video is (as always) really well made, and surprisingly quickly made. sorry for this abomination of a comment lmao
"I genuinely can't comprehend how people don't think a titan's power system can do this, given that BT's reactor core destabilized the Ark enough to BLOW UP A PLANET." BT is BT, a chunky Vanguard bitch that takes 7 Batteries to power. I believe normal multiplayer Titans only use 1-3 Batteries
@@lucky9293 if 7 batteries can destabilize a planet destroying precursor weapon that literally folds spacetime, then a(surprisingly small) nuclear explosion from crushing one seems pretty reasonable.
@@chairuptopim pretty sure vanguards only have 3 batteries, with them being under one of its armpits. Besides, shouldn't a single battery + a reactor = a kinda small explosion than a green nuke?
I honestly kind of like the implication that Bangalore/Newcastle are grunts more than that they were pilots. It's like if two privates kill a whole platoon of elite soldiers--I'm not thinking "oh, that military's shit", I'm thinking "damn, those are some good soldiers". I'm admittedly also a huge fan of the David vs Goliath trope, so take this with a grain of salt.
Considering Grunts can be seen holding their own a decent amount of times when they aren’t being hindered by gameplay limitations (just look at the Grunt who wrestled with Major Anderson) I am all for more content with Grunts being seen in center stage, along with more content giving perspectives for the Grunts. But I feel the fight with Bangalore and Newcastle with the Pilot felt a little too easy
@@justyouraveragem4a136 Grunts can definetly take on pilots in melee combat, the problem is how the fuck the pilot managed to miss them with a smart pistol
0:50 Milita are definitely the good guys in TF|2, but isn't there a grunt in Titanfall 1 that talks about the Milita using Suicide Bombers on civilian targets? I'm under the impression that both sides are morally grey are best in TF|1.
The only small thing i didnt like about titanfall 2 is that they paint the imc as the bad guys and now apex is ridning along with it. Both of the factions has Done terrible things.
I think Titanfall 1 was made when "Gritty Realism" was popular and military shooters liked to talk about the horror of war. But then the hero shooter genre happened and the art direction of many modern shooters are like Overwatch, Valorant, Fortnite, and other colorful things with less greyness.
in titanfall 1, the Militia was just a bunch of normal citizens, farmers, and homesteaders, as well as criminals, bandits, mercenaries, and assassins joining for profit or hatred of the IMC basically banding up as a "hey fuck you IMC". Most of the IMC forces believed they were fighting complete terrorists, which is pretty fair. however after Demeter, a large amount of IMC forces defected to the Militia since there was a lot of really bad shit the IMC did (shooting down Militia citizen ships with no remorse in The Refueling Raid, massacre of Colony G21, Spyglass fucking over all IMC forces during Demeter evacuation) In Titanfall 2, the Militia is functioning like a proper army, and the remaining IMC forces are pretty sadistic in the Multiplayer (Marder's human experimentation on the surviving Colonists), IMC voicelines ("Why did you sign up?" "For the killing!")
i miss the tf1 universe where the milita were actual terrorists and the imc was a bunch of corporate slave drivers. shit like demeter didnt feel like comicbook drama, it felt realistic and like a war movie. th-cam.com/video/YPdAEd2XFqk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rd9uvgb_U4JLKr1y&t=4315
I had absolutely no clue about Bangalore's training, and it doesn't make sense for them to not be in pilot gear (jump jets, pilot helmet etc) if they ARE pilots. No way a pilot is going into full scale battle looking like a stupid grunt.
"No matter how much you parade Titanfall's corpse around as fanbait, I'm not gonna play Apex." Not even out of spite or anything. I'm just not into battle royales, though I acknowledge Apex is the best of its genre. I'm gonna be really disappointed if all the Titanfall stuff that's been going on was just buildup to *this*.
I got surprised over how many people argued about the new stories from the outlands and I kind of get it but it feels like a lot of people are overreacting over very small details. (I hope this doesn't come off in an arrogant or mean way, that is absolutely not my intention) Vinson Dynamics developed the Monarch chassis under the order of the IMC, that is true. But considering the fact that it got mass-produced and a lot of mercs got their hands on them it's not far fetched to think that the Militia got some for themselves just like they're buying/steal other titan chassis for lower-risk missions. "Why don't they give them vanguards?" Because they're strictly SRS and made to be used by SRS pilots, Kane even says so in the campaign after a grunt informs him that a Militia pilot is running around with a Vanguard titan and that he might be SRS. (I would also asume they are expensive as hell to produce). Also, we don't know if this is a mercenary who lived in this community or had family there and therefore does not care what the cost is. When it comes to the titans not using gameplay accurate kits and playstyles, yes it looks weird but titans have been seen using other weaponry before in-game like Titanfall 1 as well as early trailers for Titanfall 2 (Ronin with a plasma railgun). When it comes to cinematics you can't really assume it's 100% just like the game and you have to overlook some things. (Although I must admit that the battery thing is very strange...) When it comes to Bangalore and Jackson, are they pilots? Yes and no. They have pilot certifications, but are not combat pilots. Titans have been stated to be similar to advanced farming equipment, which anyone with the right license and money can get (as can be seen in the cinematic intro in Titanfall 2). Someone who has a pilot license in real life can definitely operate a commercial airplane but to assume that they can operate in the same range as a highly trained air force pilot with weaponised equipment is a completely different thing. I like your analysis and that you are critical to how the Titanfall IP is being treated by Respawn. I've seen how they've misused and mistreated Titanfall since they stepped away from Titanfall 2 and it's really upsetting. Respawn should know better when it comes to handling Titanfall after the promises they've made in the past and I sure do have my doubts about them today. But I hope things will get better in the future... Great video 😄👍
Whoever the pilot is of the Monarch likely is from the area since he's got the Filipino sun on his titan's chassis. One of the weird things about the Monarch is that it looks like they used a Vanguard model because there's features on this Monarch that aren't on the Titanfall 2 Monarch model but are on the Vanguard model such as a serial number and having 3 boosters. It's probably an oversight really and Titanfalll/Apex would definitely benefit from having an IP team or lore team that kept track and approved of certain things that way it doesn't contradict prior information. everything you said seems pretty accurate, there's a lot of people who dislike the new stuff and don't understand what exactly is wrong with it or they wrongfully hate something though there's pre-existing information that backs it. hoping for a bright future for all pilots out there and I hope more people see your comment.
The ironic thing is that the fanservice usually just makes apex players migrate to Titanfall and then either get frustrated at the skill mountain veterans are on, or they get addicted to the movement and stick around
Current Respawn doesn't know what made their games/stories tick and cant seem to stop relying on nostalgia bait. It won't be long before the season 21 trailer gives us a scene where Cooper and BT show up to put an end to the Apex Games, only for BT to become injured, wistfully look at Cooper and say "You need to play in the Apex Games to save me" then Cooper joins the roster as the season 24 legend
The Monarch wasn't just the IMC/Vinson Dymanics's attempt to reverse-engineer the Vanguard. It FAILED - they couldn't replicate the Vanguard in its entirety, so they settled on the half-jailbroken Monarch. And then that design got leaked to the black market so any Frontier mercenary could get their hands on one.
You really made me realize how badly this new trailer was, I was so locked into the fan service that I was fine with it, like oh the vanguard class titan has monarch labeled on it to let the viewers(most apex players) what titan it is. But then you mentioned the ions and how poorly they were done. Don’t get me wrong the art style is amazing, the action is good, but the fighting could’ve had a few more things like instead of all ions, put a ronin in there or even a northstar that would’ve shot the monarchs, disabling its gun or body parts. All in all, the trailer felt like I was watching an overwatch trailer and conduit getting her powers makes zero sense and she should have radiation poisoning and even cancer given that she literally touched a nuclear exposed battery.
She got radiation powers and is canonically going to have a really short life. The same video in the description it said she traded her future. She must be an Attack on Titan fan because she took becomingva titan shifter way too seriously.
At this point I'm not sure the Apex writers have even engaged with titanfall beyond the plot synopsis and some concept art. Also, minor nitpick, but conduit's sister's injury immediately read to me as an on the job injury. The affected area + the toolbox immediately brings to mind some sort of factory or workshop where she gets her arm shredded by some kind of machinery, at least to me.
Nice you did a follow up! Also as the guy that likely brought to mind the Williams pilot history I just wanted to say that because I felt that leaving that information out wouldn't be a fair shake for them, and that I see you point on having to go the extra mile to make sense of what the new team at Respawn are doing. (And there's some old stuff on Pilots getting way more cybernetics then just the link to their Titan, like check out what one drop of Stim does to a grunt and tell me a normal person could deal with that)
i recently read on the Wiki for Conduit's home planet: Nexus, that none of the Titans depicted in her Stories from the Outlands are being fought by the IMC or Militia. it says that the action in the video is a civil war taking place on the planet. which would mean that all the Titans shown are being used by supposed non-Pilots (or ex-Pilots?), potentially justifying the lack of correct weapons for the Ions and also maybe justifying the new battery crunch method. this would also fix the strange choice of a Monarch being seen on the Militia side as it's not actually the Frontier Militia fighting. but yea, i'm not sure if this information is Canon, just what i saw on the Wiki that justifies lots of the points mentioned in this video
They probably chose ion because ion makes the best looking grunt titan. You'd want a medium chasis for the generic looking grunt unit so that leaves you with monarch, tone, and ion. They already used monarch for the hero so shes out so between ion and tone they probably just chose ion because they thought she looked cooler and her laser attack is cooler then just spamming out missiles, I doubt they put much thought into it.
Considering what her abilities in game are, she should’ve just picked up the battery and slammed it into her suit thingy to power all her abilities so it would make sense
I'd always thought Monarch's were on both sides of the fight like the disclaimer they mentioned; that idea alongside the surplus point I think squares their appearance, but there's definitely a distressing amount of creative license taken from SFtO whenever they wanna reference Titanfall. Also learned about Bangalore's training fluff - hella' well put here, earned a sub :D
Also, the time travel device from Effect and Cause was destroyed after the mission because it overloaded and shorted out. But the fact that you know, they had experimental time travel tech was never brought up again in the universe. So my guess was that it was the only one of its kind. And Militia didn't have the resources to make another, not quickly anyway. But man, being a Titanfall fan is hard, looking at Apex just makes me sad
Honestly don’t make a Titanfall 3, just make updates that include story missions, maps, new guns, new titans etc to Titanfall 2. That way there’s no way they can fuck up a Titanfall 3. Maybe even a better shading or graphic pack. Not a complete overhaul but atleast a bit. Make a season pass that costs $50 and gives you 4 expansion packs, each new expansion costs $20 like the older cods.
The whole “mercs can’t have feelings and just go with whoever pays the most” is a dumb argument. That’s what Barker is. There would be many soldiers increasingly dismayed at the IMC and switching sides.
Dont forgot the 64, who are literally just mercs but obviously just accepts the militia contracts because they have standards and actual morals, any lone pilot can be merc with specific choices, its just like battletech, you can be loner and just about work exclusively for people you like and affiliate with.
Regarding the Monarch/Vangaurd point: I think that like how cars have makes and models, titans are similar with their chassis. In titanfall's case the equivalent to the 'make' of a titan would be it's chassis type: Atlas, Stryder, Ogre, and maybe even Vangaurd. Then each chassis has it's own 'models': Atlas- Ion and Tone, Stryder: Ronin and Northstar, Ogre - Legion and Scorch, and Vangaurd - Monarch.
I mean, yeah? That's literally how they're designated. The standard Atlas, Orgre and Stryder designs got too expensive to make after Demeter and the IMC began to make weaker but more cheaper titans based off the first three.
I'm not even sure the "Bangalore is a Pilot" evidence can be enough. "Pilot" is a broad umbrella term for anyone trained to operate a Titan, but there are different Certifications for different roles. The Pilots you play as in Titanfall have the Combat Certification, but you can be a Pilot and use a Titan for farming, construction, salvage etc. Imagine taking someone who can fly a crop duster and putting them in an F35, they wouldn't have a clue what they're doing. Remember, Wraith is also a Pilot, but she has a certification in science. You wouldn't be seeing her climbing into a Ronin. The fact that Bangalore might be a Pilot doesn't even begin to put her on even footing with what the IMC Pilot should be capable of. I think this is just another case of plot armour and poorly written fanservice.
The more I look into this apex referencing titanfall stuff in their animations or games, the more I realize that they are slowly pulling a borderland 3 move. Ruining previous established character, lore, and continuity. Cause many (potentially) people who worked on the previous game left, and none of them bother to look the previous lore from their previous game.
im sure somebody has already brought this up, but feel like a better way to write bangalore would be use the inital scene of gridiron as a jumping off point to lead to flashbacks of her fialing pilot training, maybe some part of CQC training, and establish that jackson did complete that training. then you could use the fight against scryer as evidence of skill growth since 1 less expereince pilot and a grunt that was good enough to even be allowed pilot training makes for a much more believeble force against and experienced pilot. estbalishing jackson as having a pilot background could be as easy as him whipping out a pulse blade or some other piece of set it and forget it pilot kit (but i guess the devs want to establish wall hacks as a blood hound thing). as for scryer himself, just could give him literally any sidearm other than a smart pistol, sicne we see pilots carry such a wide variety of weapons, hell why not give him a wingman elite, since its supposed to be a favorite of mercenaries in the frontier. in the case of the conduit short. could have it where the moncarch/vanguard gets knocked down partway into the fight and starts leaking battery juice or something, have conduit (despite maybe wranins from people around her/trying to be stopped by the riflemen) run up to the downed titan and get her powers from the battery fluid on the ground. also would swap the ions for tone imo, since after conduit gets her powers you could flood the sky with missiles from their salvo cores and this can set a clear do or die moment for conduit to release her energy/giant nuke however you want to write it. if somebody actually reads this
vanguards are exclusively used by the SRS, and i don't think the SRS would send their super special custom titans all the way out to the outlands while the frontier war is still happening. i'm sure, just like in militia fashion, they are just stealing and repurposing mass produced imc titans for convenience. remember this is still an APEX trailer for APEX, told thru the obviously unreliable narrator of child conduit, so take all of this with a grain of salt
I don't remember anything about vanguards being only used by the SRS but I remember the Kane audio where he's dissing a soldier for not knowing that the SRS only use vanguards.
Bangalore and Jackson should just be IMC Grunts. Making them pilots came out of nowhere from a book I didn’t even know existed. It should be one of those things they retcon because they easily can since Bangalore throughout all the seasons has never mentioned running the gauntlet. You know who has? Octane. I’d be more accepting of OCTANE as a pilot.
I noted a million things while watching that short, LOL!!! From Titans leaping into the air, the inaccurate guns (in terms of function not...aim), to the fact _that's not how laser core works!_ I was happy to see some Titanfall rep, but a bunch of stuff bugged me about it. Also, don't float around a bunch of Titanfall mysteries just to have announced an Apex character, Respawn.
Before knowing they have Pilot training: Cool, with team work and sheer determination they did the impossible and defeated a real Pilot! After knowing they have Pilot training: So both of them had pilot training, which means it was an unfair fight from the beginning... FOR THE PILOT!
If they didn't want people thinking that she got superpowers from a battery that should've been melted along with the titans, why did they animate it like it jumped to her, have her smile at it, then have it move with even more sapience as she reached back at it?
The pilot question... they are not supersoldiers, at least not TF2 onward; Major Anderson got killed by getting jumped by a normal grunt. And Blisk mentions pilots are not what they used to be. My problem with the writing is with the Simulacrums, Revenant and Ash are so inconsistent. Also Bangalore is way more skilled than a normal grunt, it seems they had training but no equipment/titans. And all of those problems are because of gameplay and lore not being consistent for the sake of gameplay. My headcannon solution to just enjoy the gameplay of both TF2 and Apex is: Apex takes place on an alternate universe where the frontier war ended early. (Probably on one of many Voidwalker timelines.)
The alternative short you described is the Illari short for Overwatch. Untold “magic” powers explode and kills everyone nearby and theyre forced to hide in shame
Yeah, apex is a nightmare of lore to try and unravel and make sense of, and the inconsistencies make you really just lose interest. It also completely fucks the in lore character skill as well by having several PILOTS going up against vagrants and orphans.
I can understand the monarch, but the battery scene? No. Thats not how they work. At all. Batterys do create energy, but at a slow pace, to the point where it would be recommended you charge them seperatly rather than leave it be. This is evident in the first misson. The more damage taken, the less the battery is powered due to shield and things. If the titan really did crack that batter, nothing much should have happened except radiation possibly. Also salvage crews.
Ion is arguably the best choice for that duel to make any sort of sense, as monarchs electric rounds drains ions energy so ion ends up being one of monarchs best matchups.
The point at 2:00 is intuitive, however the 6-4 do exist, a group of independent mercenaries with a unique code of honor - they won't always work for the highest bidder. (That is legit just the in-game description too)
Actually titans using different primaries seems fairly normal. In TF2s opening cutscene a scorch uses the xo16 chain gun. Lore wise there isn't really an explanation why but if I had to guess, Titans use their known primaries because they are best suited for their kit. Scorch's thermite launcher is probably used because it pairs well with his thermite traps. Ion uses the splitter rifle since ions energy pairs well with it.
So, I did know about the Williams twins' Pilot training, but I didn't know *where* that came from. It's good to know it came from a lore book I had no clue existed! That's just awesome! I can't help but feel like it's a bit contrived, but if that had been a larger part of their short (more than a shot panning up at the Williams family's shelf of mementos, which features some Pilot helmets) maybe I'd feel a bit better about the fight? In any case, rip to Scryer, should've been prepared for your stupid OP gun to not lock onto a friendly IFF tag, but hey, we've all been there. I don't totally mind the most recent short; I think the Titan combat scene worked well enough, though I can't help but acknowledge that the Ions weren't acting like Ions at all-- I'm inclined to think that none of them were manned, and this fight took place in a Frontier Defense style situation? But we don't know, at all. It's the ending that really gets me. *Maybe* it's just because of all the times I've died to a Nuke Eject, or barely scraped by after surviving one, or the radiation warning on the fence around the hill the Monarch nuked, but when Conduit reached out and touched its battery, I was very caught off guard. I really, really wish we knew why she chose to make the hike there, I wish we knew more about her sister (was she a Legend herself? Did her arm get torn up in a factory?), and I wish we could've seen more of the harmful effects *in* the short itself. However, after watching the premiere of the Ignite season trailer this morning, it seems like she does experience some amount of pain from using her abilities? In the final moments of the cinematic, before it clips back to the "drawing board" with Mirage and Gibraltar, Conduit stares down at her wrists and seems to express pain. Maybe pushing herself overloads her "battery" so to speak? But, well, she's the battery. I'm not totally certain what the plan is here, but I'm hoping we learn more in the future.
“She could have tripped” bro that legit made me laugh so hard. And everything your saying is what ive been thinking this entire time. Like wtf is respawn/ea doing? Its like they want to fucking fail.
honestly the main plot going on in the apex story I find very good and entertaining but these backstories seem like they let trainee writers make them and then just make them learn how to stablish continuity the hard way
Theres a lot of out of game lore sources for Titanfall 1 and 2 (books, websites, apps) that the current respawn team has demonstrated they are blissfully unaware of, as they’ll retcon stuff from them without even needing to. Also the milita using monarchs makes sense, as they’re likely a lot cheaper than vanguards, and likely fill a different niche/role in combat scenarios.
I am so fucking glad someone else is seeing how fucking wild and inconsistent Apex has been with Titanfall. Also, literally if they had said once EVER in game, in like year 1 that Bangalore had pilot training I would have thought her as more interesting than an ex fascist soldier
The monarch chassis leaked onto the black market iirc, that’s one detail that was established with monarch’s release and it’s why it is used by non-IMC pilots
3:36 You're wrong about a million times in this video but I have to pick this one specifically: Scorch has Heat Shield, Ronin has Sword Block, Tone has Particle Wall. And honorable mention, Legion has Gun Shield. Every single Titan except Northstar would have to "arbitrarily not use" their defensive ability in this trailer.
imo, i think bangalore's backstory works better as a grunt; it's a better fit for the apex lore since it's lower-stakes than an all-out war, and since she's not the kind of character who would let her skills atrophy it makes her power level as a grunt more appropriate for the apex games. i also think it's better for the gridiron short, since it makes more narrative sense for bangalore -- who cares a lot about her family -- to only be able to overcome impossible odds when fighting alongside her brother
At first I questioned why a Filipino would think irradiating themselves would give them a tactical advantage, but then I remembered that there's no shortage of people in my country who would legit do something "for the memes".
The 6-4 in Tf2 are literally described as being mercs with their own code of honor, they frequently align with Militia forces but are still mercenaries. They’ve been described as the mirror opposites of the Apex Predators.
So you're telling me that in titanfall universe you can get magic powers from lethal radiation, and that she was the only one in the universe stupid enough to touch it?
I also couldn't believe Conduit literally got powers from radioactive waste. Maybe she'll be a Legend for a couple of months, then gets removed and Respawn say she died of catastrophic organ failure
Man I hate how they butcher the lore of Titanfall so much for Apex, but some things I want to note some people are made about. In Titanfall 1, you could choose your chassis and any weapons (with titan voice), meaning you could rock an Ogre with the Assault Riffle weapon, or a Stryder with a rocket launcher. One of the things I thank Titanfall did better then 2. Otherwise you hit the nail on the head with the title, Incompetent with Titanfall Fanservice. Could not put it better when it comes to Apex.
Monarch could definitely be a frontier milita titan, in the beginning of the training with lastimosa he mentions how bt is a milita home grown titan and is the only one they didn't need to steal from the imc, which explain that all the other titans was stolen from the imc by the milita so they definitely could have just stole monarch
I think the nit picks can be explained very easily with the “I don’t remember much from back then.” Also let’s just go with rule of cool for everything else
Monarch was chosen obviously to foreshadow new character abilities. This is THE energy-titan, that feasts on shields and transfers 'em to allies... and Coduit's ability is to feast on energy and transfer shields to allies. And even me, who plays TF2 regulary has long forgotten what "Vanguard titan" means, so yeah, nobody would call it like that. Also, in Conduit's gameplay trailer we see she gained no superpowers, just used the now rare source of energy to power her suit (there's a battery on a back). After all, energy lack is stated as the main Frontier problem.
I dislike Apex as much as most Titanfall players, but some of these feel like . . . trying too hard to find something wrong. A mercenary working for the Militia and still being a merc isn't that hard, the 6-4 are right there, and are directly involved in the campaign. Titans not using the weapons they use in multiplayer is also really easily explained, they have hands for a reason, which would allow them to, I dunno, *pick up a different gun.*
i assume this is obvious but just incase it isn't, this video is sort of a followup to this one: th-cam.com/video/zY-1_-KZ5j0/w-d-xo.html
the second half is, at the very least. probably go watch that one first for it to make sense.
have a good one! :>
I think the reason why some militia pilots have the monarch titan is because militia actually steals titans from the imc, and because the vanguard titans is the most complex titan at the time, it is probably the most expensive titan to produce. not every pilot would afford the vanguard titan.
@@nathancaynor4105

Another question that arises is: if a titan can reach its battery port by itself, how is rodeoing still a thing ?
gameplay contrivance.
LITERALLY WHAT I SAID THATS WHY THEY ELECTRIC SMOKE or static fart
rodeoing never made sense to me because the Titans already store their weapons on their backs so they can obviously reach back there
Not to mention in early gameplay development, if you were piloting a titan, you can boost yourself into a wall multiple times to kill a rodeo
It’s like the entire chunks and glass still remaining of the Death Star all over again
It’s the *shudders* Holdo manoeuvre.
Prob bc batteries are expensive, so when it comes to bombs they would not dare waste it and instead use it for titans
or it could be tech advancement.

@@DumplingDoodle I want to believe...
We can only keep on smoking on that hopium and not take our pills brother
Ive been trying to tell people this for years. 2016 Respawn is gone.
Didn't the original developers of Titanfall 2 already left Respawn years ago?

One way they can explain how Conduit got her powers, is to have her get caught in the blast radius and have the pilot, who ejected, give her a heal stim like Lastamosa gave Cooper and try to draw the remaining attackers away from Conduit who is knocked out from the heal stim. Then say the heal stim and radiation from the blast had a reaction that gave her powers.

That Ion is basically doing the exact same pose from the Titanfall 2 player card, I would say I am very pissed but after all of this.. "WOWWIEE LOOKIE LOOKIE ITS TITANFALL GUYS ITS THE THING, THE- YKNOW THE TITAN. FALL." ..I'm more or less numb to it now, just left with a feeling emptiness with a slight sadness, every time they do stuff like this I basically went "yep, there goes those fellas doing the thing again. Well, at least other people like it".
A couple issues with your points:
- Conduit's powers are not necessarily from the radiation.
Besides, shouldn't a single battery + a reactor = a kinda small explosion than a green nuke?
honestly, if thats the case then there shouldn't be even a 1 percent chance cunduit could have survived.
@@thephoenix4093 countermeasure: Advanced technology ftw!!!

Most of the IMC forces believed they were fighting complete terrorists, which is pretty fair. however after Demeter, a large amount of IMC forces defected to the Militia since there was a lot of really bad shit the IMC did (shooting down Militia citizen ships with no remorse in The Refueling Raid, massacre of Colony G21, Spyglass fucking over all IMC forces during Demeter evacuation)
In Titanfall 2, the Militia is functioning like a proper army, and the remaining IMC forces are pretty sadistic in the Multiplayer (Marder's human experimentation on the surviving Colonists), IMC voicelines ("Why did you sign up?" "For the killing!")
i miss the tf1 universe where the milita were actual terrorists and the imc was a bunch of corporate slave drivers.
shit like demeter didnt feel like comicbook drama, it felt realistic and like a war movie.

I had absolutely no clue about Bangalore's training, and it doesn't make sense for them to not be in pilot gear (jump jets, pilot helmet etc) if they ARE pilots. No way a pilot is going into full scale battle looking like a stupid grunt.
"No matter how much you parade Titanfall's corpse around as fanbait, I'm not gonna play Apex."
Not even out of spite or anything. I'm just not into battle royales, though I acknowledge Apex is the best of its genre. I'm gonna be really disappointed if all the Titanfall stuff that's been going on was just buildup to *this*.
She was bitten by a radio active battery
I got surprised over how many people argued about the new stories from the outlands and I kind of get it but it feels like a lot of people are overreacting over very small details. (I hope this doesn't come off in an arrogant or mean way, that is absolutely not my intention)
Vinson Dynamics developed the Monarch chassis under the order of the IMC, that is true.
(Although I must admit that the battery thing is very strange...)
When it comes to Bangalore and Jackson, are they pilots?
Great video 😄👍
hey, I used to watch your stuff a long time ago! little bizarre seeing you here. thanks for watching! :>
The most unrealistic part is that the monarch is using energy transfer
I always thought the whole point of bangalore was her being a grunt, like a call of duty boots on the ground angle seems to be her entire gimmick, no?
The ironic thing is that the fanservice usually just makes apex players migrate to Titanfall and then either get frustrated at the skill mountain veterans are on, or they get addicted to the movement and stick around
The amount of Titanfall fan service gets more sad every time it happens. Apex reaks of desperation to be accepted by Titanfall
My theory for the Monarch is that it was a IMC pilot that defected in the middle of a battle and linked up with the militia
That or their mercenaries, it could be a mix of mercenaries and random dudes they just threw in random chassis they could scrounge up.
Here's the issue: the majority of Apex developers aren't from the Titanfall team.
I'd much rather believe they failed in the late stages of their pilot training than them being full fledged pilots
Nope. I thought I missed something when people said it. I did, but I missed a single line in a book that I needed to buy
The standard Atlas, Orgre and Stryder designs got too expensive to make after Demeter and the IMC began to make weaker but more cheaper titans based off the first three.
thing is the mornach is an inferior copy of the vanguard titans, theyre not the same
I'm not even sure the "Bangalore is a Pilot" evidence can be enough.
Hell yeah I was so excited to see the first video had popped off- well deserved!
Yeah, apex is a nightmare of lore to try and unravel and make sense of, and the inconsistencies make you really just lose interest.
It also completely fucks the in lore character skill as well by having several PILOTS going up against vagrants and orphans.
Great video remember seeing you in my feed for that great Xcom video good job bro
thanks lad
I can understand the monarch, but the battery scene? No. Thats not how they work. At all. Batterys do create energy, but at a slow pace, to the point where it would be recommended you charge them seperatly rather than leave it be. This is evident in the first misson. The more damage taken, the less the battery is powered due to shield and things. If the titan really did crack that batter, nothing much should have happened except radiation possibly.
Also salvage crews.
i mean crushing an RTG is technically pretty close to how an actual nuke functions.
@@nbyv yeah but you cant run over a nuclear bomb with a tank and get hiroshima
Ion uses the splitter rifle since ions energy pairs well with it.
thank you so much for subtitling now I can eat dinner and youtube without blowing up
no. no one even knew about bangalore’s pilot training until now and it completely changes the power scaling of everyone in the games.
Its like they want to fucking fail.
honestly the main plot going on in the apex story I find very good and entertaining but these backstories seem like they let trainee writers make them and then just make them learn how to stablish continuity the hard way
Numbers getting bigger scaring you? Well, its that time of the year. Welcome to spooky month!
Don’t care the titanfall segment was 🔥🔥🔥
3:36 You're wrong about a million times in this video but I have to pick this one specifically: Scorch has Heat Shield, Ronin has Sword Block, Tone has Particle Wall.
I like it when respawn gives an apex character radiation poisoning rather than giving me and the rest of the schizophrenic titanfall fans titanfall 3
You guys are the ones working yourselves up for a game and updates that they have clearly abandoned and are not going to make.
